Talk about your dramatic wins. The Minnesota Wild might not have a better win this season than their first Adidas Erik Karlsson Jersey , a 4-3 overtime decision Thursday night over the Chicago Blackhawks that featured a short-handed equalizer in the last 25 seconds of regulation and a game-winning breakaway goal from Jason Zucker.“If this is how the year is going to be, I won’t have any hair left at the end of it,” Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau quipped.Article continues below ...With a two-point game in their pocket for the first time, the Wild try to push above .500 Saturday in a late-afternoon clash with the Carolina Hurricanes that finishes a three-game homestand.Minnesota (1-1-1) came into the game against Chicago looking for offense. The Wild found it, outshooting the Blackhawks 46-30 after being outshot 82-51 in the first two games. They finally sustained puck possession and drove play.Chicago goalie Cam Ward made a spate of outstanding saves that probably prevented Minnesota from scoring six or seven goals, yet the Wild were in danger of losing again after Mikael Granlund took a holding minor at 18:43 of the third period. But Minnesota took advantage of the Blackhawks’ inability to maintain puck control. Eric Staal and Zack Parise pumped shots at Ward, who saved them both. However, defenseman Ryan Suter, who rarely ventures below the point on offense Adidas Adam Cracknell Jersey , got to the top of the blue paint and poked home a rebound to force overtime.“Just desperation … just trying to get to the net and help out,” Suter said.Zucker wrapped things up in overtime with his second goal of the night, capping one of the best games for anyone in the league during the first week-plus. He finished with three points, a plus-four plus-minus rating and put 10 shots on net.He was a prime reason why the Wild tied their fourth-highest shot total in a game and equaled their second-most shots on goal in a home game.“I wasn’t happy with how I played the first two games,” Zucker said. “I thought I had some good spurts. It just wasn’t good enough. I know the way I can play and tonight was much more like it. I think everybody would have said the same thing about the first two games.”While Minnesota found some footing, Carolina (3-0-1) has been on solid ground from the opener, when it outshot the New York Islanders 46-20 but lost 2-1 in overtime. It has won three straight since then, including a 5-3 decision Tuesday night over Vancouver.Under first-year coach Rod Brind’Amour, the Hurricanes have found their scoring touch Adidas Josh Jooris Jersey , registering 17 goals, the third-highest total through four games in franchise history.“We want to play that way offensively,” he said. “That’s the way we have to play. We have good talent, and we have to use it to our advantage. Now we have to get better at the other end. I think there’s a lot of room for improvement, which is a positive that we’re still finding ways to get wins.” Hitting the road isn’t normally seen as a good thing for NHL teams, but the New York Islanders are embracing their longest trip of the season to date.New York (15-12-4) starts a four-game Western Conference swing Monday night at Colorado with a good attitude and with the hope of building momentum after a 4-3 shootout win over Detroit on Saturday night.“I think it’s kind of nice, get on the road, be together as a group, kind of get that bonding again Adidas Timothy Liljegren Jersey ,” center Mathew Barzal told Newsday after the win over the Red Wings. “I get excited playing in front of other fans. I think we all do.”Article continues below ...The Islanders will be on the road when the NHL roster freeze starts Wednesday and concludes Sunday in Dallas just ahead of the Christmas break.“It’s right before Christmas, right before everyone gets to see family and get some time off,” Anthony Beauvillier, who extended his goal streak to three games on Saturday, told Newsday. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.” Beauvillier might change his tune when facing the high-scoring Avalanche on Monday night. Colorado (18-9-6) has scored 121 goals, tops in the Western Conference and third overall, and is coming off a 6-4 win over Dallas on Saturday night. The top line for the Avalanche has combined for 148 points this season and scored five of the six goals against the Stars.Colorado could have had more goals Saturday but had two disallowed upon review.Forward Mikko Rantanen (56 points) is on a 14-game point streak and leads the NHL in scoring. Center Nathan MacKinnon (52 points) is second. The third member, captain Gabe Landeskog, has 21 goals Adidas Tyler Ennis Jersey , tied with MacKinnon for the team lead.“I’m fortunate to be part of such a good line that finds different ways to score goals,” Landeskog said after the game. The Avalanche pulled out that win on Landeskog’s goal at 16:40 gave them the lead, and MacKinnon added an empty-netter 1:57 later after blowing a two-goal lead in the third period.New York has had issues with the third period this season before pulling one out against Detroit at home. It was the first time in 10 games the Islanders have won when trailing after two periods but helped them improve to 3-3-1 in December.New York might need to put up more goals Monday than it has lately. The Islanders average 2.9 goals per game but only 2.3 in the last seven. That might not be enough against a team that averages 3.7 goals per game. They also can’t afford to lose ground in the playoff race. Even though it’s only December, dropping valuable points could make things tougher down the road.“You’re going to see in these next four, five games things start to settle in a little bit,” New York captain Anders Lee told Newsday. “It’s that time of the year where these points are crucial. Moves are starting to be made and things start to get a little more set in stone. It only gets harder and harder to climb out of a hole if you get put in one.”

The San Jose Sharks defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-3 on Sunday and then proceeded to land one of their forwards in a trade. The Red Wings announced they traded right-winger Gustav Nyquist to San Jose in exchange for a 2019 second-round draft pick and 2020 conditional third-round draft pick. John Shannon of Sportsnet noted Nyquist waived his no-trade clause to facilitate his move to the Sharks.Nyquist scored a goal in the loss to the Sharks and had 48 points on 15 goals and 33 assists in his first 61 games of the season for Detroit. He is a consistent playmaker in the offensive zone and has tallied 40 or more points in each of the last six seasons. He is a free agent following this season Vladimir Tarasenko Jersey , so it made sense for the struggling Red Wings to trade him before potentially losing him to the open market without a return. Only the Ottawa Senators (49 points) have fewer points in the Eastern Conference than Detroit's 55.As for the Sharks, they are in second place in the Pacific Division with 82 points and primed for a potential playoff run in the Western Conference. They are third in the league in goals per game (3.62), and Nyquist gives them someone who figures to only bolster those totals. Not only was San Jose able to land an impact player like Nyquist without giving up a first-round pick, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic noted the Red Wings will retain 30 percent of his salary. He could make his debut for San Jose on Tuesday when it takes on the Boston Bruins. In doing so, he joins Wayne Gretzky as the only two players in NHL history to win the scoring race more than once at 22 years of age or younger.”That is pretty special,” the Oilers captain said. ”That is some pretty good company to be a part of. It definitely means a lot Womens Brayden Point Jersey , and I have my teammates to thank for everything. They helped me a lot down the stretch and did everything they could.”Jussi Jokinen and Tyler Motte scored for the Canucks (31-40-11), who won five of their final seven games to close out a playoff-missing campaign of their own. The Sedins were held scoreless in their final game.McDavid helped start the scoring six minutes into play by feeding it across to Draisaitl, who beat Canucks goalie Anders Nilsson for his 25th of the season.Jokinen got a piece of a Brendan Leipsic shot and it caromed past Edmonton starter Cam Talbot as Vancouver tied it 1-1 with two minutes left in the first.Motte fished out a puck during a scramble out front and beat Talbot up high to give the Canucks a 2-1 lead.Edmonton tied the game back up a couple minutes later as McDavid earned another assist by dropping it back to Nugent-Hopkins, who tied a career high with his 24th goal of the season.NOTES: It was the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Canadian clubs, with the Canucks winning two of the first three. … There was a lengthy moment of silence before the game to honor the victims of Saskatchewan’s Humboldt Broncos minor hockey team bus tragedy on Friday. In addition Braydon Coburn Jersey , both teams wore decals to recognize the victims, the proceeds from the 50/50 draw went toward the cause and the home logo on the scoreboard was a hybrid between the Oilers and Broncos.—

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Flyers got the type of consistent performance they had been missing of late.Sean Couturier scored a pair of goals Adidas Andrej Sustr Jersey , Calvin Pickard made 31 saves in his fourth career shutout and Philadelphia beat the New York Rangers 4-0 Friday to stop a four-game losing streak.Travis Konecny had a goal, two assists and got into fight, Jordan Weal scored an empty-net goal and Claude Giroux had three assists for Philadelphia, which entered tied for last in the Metropolitan conference. The Flyers scored three goals in the final five minutes, 21 seconds.“There weren’t many guys below the bar; there were none, to be honest with you,” coach Dave Hakstol said. “We played a real good 60-minute game. Everybody went out and did their job, from the goaltender on out.”Pickard, among four Flyers goaltenders this season, was in net because starter Brian Elliott and backup Michal Neuvirth are sidelined with lower body injuries. Pickard has made 10 appearances and has a 4-1-2 record.“It was great for everybody,” Pickard said. “After the last few games, we really keyed in on this one and we wanted to have a good effort start to finish. I thought we did that.”New York, which entered tied for the Metropolitan lead, lost for just the third time in 12 games. The Rangers entered with three wins a row.Pickard made his best save with 5:56 left, a pad stop on Lias Andersson to preserve a one-goal lead.“I wanted to stay patient Adidas Alex Galchenyuk Jersey ,” Pickard said. “He’s a pretty skilled guy, so you had to figure he was going to make a move. I just stayed with him and battled after that.”Couturier scored 35 seconds later with a wrist shot from the slot, sending the puck under Henrik Lundqvist’s right arm after a pass from Konecny. After Weal’s goal, Couturier scored on a rebound with 1:37 remaining.Philadelphia had a season-high 46 shots against the 36-year-old Lundqvist, who started for the 18th time in 23 games. The four-time All-Star said there was no doubt the Flyers deserved the victory.“Today we played a team that did most things better than us; they played really well,” Lundqvist said. “The only thing I didn’t like is we kept taking chances when it was a one-goal game.”After giving up the first goal in each game during their skid, the Flyers outshot the Rangers 15-8 in the first period, going ahead on Konecny’s unusual goal with 6:39 left. He sent the puck toward the net from the side boards, looking for Couturier, and the puck deflected off Lundqvist, Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei and a post before crossing the goal line.Ryan Strome, in his fifth game with the Rangers after his acquisition from Edmonton, fought Konecny to a draw in the second period. Konecny responded to Strome’s strong check on Couturier.Couturier appreciated Konecny’s response.“That’s the team spirit we need, battling for each other,” he said.Notes: New York F Mats Zuccarello (groin) returned to the lineup after missing three games. … Rangers LW Cody McLeod missed his first game of what is expected to be a four-to-six-week absence. CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Sam Bennett is taking advantage of increased playing time.Bennett had the go-ahead goal and an assist, and the Calgary Flames scored five times in the first period again to beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 on Wednesday night.Calgary took the lead for good at 8:20 of the first when Bennett ripped a 25-foot wrist shot into the top corner for his second goal in two games. Next shift out, he combined with TJ Brodie to set up a goal by Matthew Tkachuk.“I’ve wanted this opportunity for a while and I said I’d make the most of it. I’m not going to let my foot off the pedal now,” Bennett said. “The confidence is definitely pretty good right now. I feel confident in my plays and I’m able to make plays and not be scared to make mistakes. It’s a great feeling.”Dillon Dube, Mark Jankowski, Johnny Gaudreau and Derek Ryan, with an empty netter, also scored as Calgary (13-8-1) moved back into first place in the Pacific Division. The Flames became the fourth team in NHL history and first in nearly 30 years to score five or more goals in consecutive first periods. Calgary also scored five times in the first Monday against Vegas in a 7-2 win.The St. Louis Blues were the last team to accomplish the feat back in November 1989.“It was just embarrassing,” Winnipeg forward Patrik Laine said. “That’s not the Winnipeg Jets. That’s not the way we want to play this game. It was bad. It was real bad.”Elevated to the second line alongside Tkachuk and Mikael Backlund to start the homestand, Bennett remains in that spot. The fourth pick in the 2014 draft has earned accolades from his coach and teammates in helping the Flames win three of their past four games.“He’s playing awesome right now,” Tkachuk said. “I love how heavy and physical he’s been. He’s creating more space for myself and (Backlund), but he’s creating more space for himself as well. You saw his speed on that breakaway in the third.”It was the first multipoint game of the season for Bennett. Half of his eight points have come in the past four games.“Benny is one of those guys, he’s a young guy still, he’s getting comfortable with what he brings to the table Adidas Michael Grabner Jersey ,” Flames coach Bill Peters said. “He’s got a real bright future. We’ve said all along, we’ve liked him, we’ve liked him a lot. His competitiveness has led to the opportunity of playing more and he’s capitalized on that.”Making his third consecutive start with struggling Mike Smith on the bench, David Rittich finished with 37 saves to improve to 8-1-0. He’s won five straight.Laine scored two goals and Brandon Tanev had the other one for Winnipeg (12-6-2).“There was quite a bit that didn’t go our way tonight,” captain Blake Wheeler said. “Some of that was self-inflicted and some of it, the puck just wasn’t bouncing our way.”Tanev took advantage of poor defensive coverage and scored on his own rebound just 15 seconds into the game.Dube’s first NHL goal tied it less than two minutes later. He ended his drought in his 17th game, firing Jankowski’s centering pass behind goalie Connor Hellebuyck.Tkachuk’s shot leaked through Hellebuyck’s glove, making it 3-1 and ending the evening for the Jets goaltender. He exited after giving up three goals on nine shots.“We’ve got three in a row right now and I think everyone in our locker room feels great,” Rittich said.Down 5-1, Winnipeg started to chip away at the lead, beginning with Laine’s one-timer with 14 seconds remaining in the second period. On a nearly identical-looking goal, only this time on the power play and off a setup by Dustin Byfuglien, Laine’s 13th of the season 6:17 into the third drew the Jets within two.Laurent Brossoit stopped 14 shots in relief of Hellebuyck. COLUMBUS Jack Roslovic Jersey Womens , Ohio — The Washington Capitals visit Nationwide Arena for the first time since they eliminated the Columbus Blue Jackets from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs last season and the atmosphere most likely will be intense Saturday night. The two teams have picked up where they left off last season at the top of the Metropolitan Division. The Capitals (16-9-3) enter the second matchup of the season between the teams with one more point. When the teams met last month in Washington, the Blue Jackets (16-10-2) came away with a 2-1 victory. Another win in regulation would push Columbus to the top of the division ahead of Washington.Article continues below ...“Two teams fighting for first place in the division and two teams that play a pretty similar style of aggressive and skilled hockey,” Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno told reporters on Friday. “So it should be fun.”The Blue Jackets open a six-game homestand hoping to get a streak going on home ice, where they’re just 7-5-1 this season. Their last home game resulted in a 9-6 loss to the Calgary Flames in a game that they were leading by three goals at one point.“We seem to be letting games slip away at home and its unacceptable,” Foligno said. But the Blue Jackets bounced back on Thursday night with a 4-3 overtime victory on the road over the Philadelphia Flyers.Columbus let a two-goal lead evaporate in the third period against Philadelphia, but defenseman Seth Jones quickly decided the outcome in overtime, scoring 10 seconds after the faceoff on an assist from teammate Cam Atkinson, who kept his 12-game point streak alive.Atkinson can tie a franchise record held by Ryan Johansen (Dec. 18 Scott Mayfield Jersey Womens , 2014-Jan. 17, 2015) with a point in a 13th consecutive games. In the last 12 games, Atkinson has 13 goals and seven assists. The Blue Jackets hope coach John Tortorella is on the bench for the game. He wore a hoodie on Thursday night in Philadelphia while experiencing chills from the flu and did not attend Friday’s practice.“He was so cold he was shaking,” Blue Jackets assistant coach Brad Larsen said, according to the team’s website. “It was like full-body tremors.”The Capitals experienced a similar situation to the Blue Jackets’ blown lead against the Flames when they gave up a four-goal advantage in a 6-5 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Two days later, the Capitals lost to the Vegas Golden Knights in a Stanley Cup Final rematch but ended their brief two-game skid with a 4-2 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night, their first regular-season win in Phoenix since 2006.The Capitals played without wingers T.J. Oshie and Tom Wilson at the same time for the first time this season. Oshie has missed 10 games with an upper body injury and Wilson sustained a concussion on Tuesday night in the game against the Golden Knights.Andre Burakovsky stepped up and scored the tiebreaking goal late in the third period for the Capitals.“I think I’ve been playing good,” Burakovsky said Max Domi Jersey Womens , according to The Washington Post. “I’m doing all of the right things, if you really watch the game closely. I’m not drifting away from the game as much as I did maybe two years ago.“Even if I haven’t produced as many points as people expect or I expect from myself, I still think my game has been way better overall than in the past couple of years, so obviously that’s a good sign.”Washington captain Alexander Ovechkin extended his scoring streak to 10 games on an empty-net goal with 2.3 seconds remaining against the Coyotes. Ovechkin nine goals and five assists during the streak, and he’s tied for the NHL lead in goals with 21.“It was good for us to have a really solid third period,” Capitals coach Todd Reirden said. “That cost us the last couple of games and something we addressed and spread out some of the ice time so we could be a little stronger as the third period went on. I thought it was beneficial for us.”Nicklas Backstrom has 34 points in 28 games and John Carlsson ranks third among NHL defensemen with 29 points. DALLAS (AP) Rasmus Dahlin went first overall to the Buffalo Sabres, Commissioner Gary Bettman was booed relentlessly by the crowd all night and trade chatter didn’t amount to a whole lot of movement. With the exception of one trade by the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals, the first round of the NHL draft went off without many surprises. Only two players and a handful of picks were traded Friday night Richard Panik Jersey , leaving general managers hoping for more on Day Two.”That was kind of a boring first day or first round,” Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall said. ”It’s not typical for this day.”The Sabres picking Dahlin at No. 1 and the Carolina Hurricanes taking Russian winger Andrei Svechnikov at No. 2 got the draft itself off to a predictable start. Montreal taking Finnish center Jesperi Kotkaniemi third and Arizona going a bit off the board with center Barrett Hayton fifth allowed high-scoring Czech winger Filip Zadina to fall to Detroit with the sixth pick.”I’m telling my agent if they will pass on me, I will fill their net with the puck,” Zadina said. ”I want to prove them that they have done, like, bad decision.”Not a whole lot of big decisions happened Friday night at American Airlines Center. The Sabres taking Dahlin was automatic since they won the draft lottery in April, and the 18-year-old wore a Buffalo Bills hat Friday prior to the selection. Svechnikov got to try on the Hurricanes’ draft hat before he was the No. 2 pick just as general manager Don Waddell acknowledged recently.Dahlin is the second Swedish player to be taken No. 1 and the first since Mats Sundin in 1989. Sundin went on to a Hall of Fame career.”It’s pretty crazy actually,” Dahlin said. ”He’s a legend in the hockey world. It’s kind of weird but amazing.”GMs found it weird that there weren’t more trades consummated. A few teams swapped picks late in the first round http://www.officialsabres.com/authentic-adidas-jack-eichel-jersey , but the big shakeup came a half-hour before the draft when the Capitals traded veteran defenseman Brooks Orpik and backup goaltender Philipp Grubauer to the Colorado Avalanche for a second-round pick. The trade netted Washington the 47th pick but most importantly cleared significant salary-cap space to attempt to re-sign pending free agent defensemen John Carlson and Michal Kempny. MacLellan said he was close to getting a deal done with Carlson, so he had to prepare.”It’s hard to do, but we had to create some room to sign some players,” MacLellan said.Grubauer was the first domino to fall in what could be a fascinating goaltending market. Ottawa’s Craig Anderson is reportedly available, and Columbus might have to make a decision on Sergei Bobrovsky if like winger Artemi Panarin the two-time Vezina winner isn’t willing to talk about a contract extension with just a year left before free agency. The Capitals and Hurricanes discussed a trade for Grubauer that would’ve given Washington a higher second-round pick, but MacLellan opted to send the 26-year-old German to the Western Conference rather than giftwrap him for a division rival, and Colorado’s Joe Sakic was willing to take on Orpik’s salary to get Grubauer.”We knew the asking price was high and we had the cap room that we can give cap flexibility for us to not have to give up more than we did,” said Sakic http://www.officialflames.com/authentic-adidas-sean-monahan-jersey , who added he’ll look to trade Orpik or buy out the 37-year-old. ”We felt it was important to get Grubauer. We just like what he can do for us.”The Sabres love what they’re getting in Dahlin, who should spark the rebuilding process for a team that has missed the playoffs in each of the past seven seasons. The smooth-skating playmaker was considered the consensus first pick for more than a year.”It’s been a long waiting,” Dahlin said. ”You can’t really plan anything. Finally today I can plan my future. I love to call my new town Buffalo.”After co-owner Kim Pegula made some opening remarks, general manager Jason Botterill announced Dahlin as the top pick. In the corner of the arena, Sabres fans in attendance chanted, ”Dahlin! Dahlin!”Bills draft pick Josh Allen tweeted after the pick: ”Welcome to Buffalo (at)rasmusdahlin00! Can’t wait to watch you play, wings on me later this summer.”Dahlin will jump to the NHL right away and should help the club’s league-worst offense that contributed to its last-place finish. He had six assists in seven games at the world junior championships in Buffalo and put up 20 points in 41 games in Sweden’s top pro league this season.—AP Sports Writer Schuyler Dixon contributed to this report.—

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Los Angeles Kings know all about poor starts http://www.floridapanthersteamshops.com/authentic-vincent-trocheck-jersey , their first periods at home being something less than highlight material of late. But they are nothing if not resilient, and after falling behind 2-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night, they stormed back for a 5-2 victory.”There are a lot of character guys in this room,” said forward Nate Thompson. ”They’ve been through a lot together. They’ve done a lot. It’s a veteran group that we know when we get down, that guys just dig deeper.”Thompson turned the momentum around by scoring the Kings’ first goal in the second period. It was his fifth goal of the season and first with the Kings since arriving in a Feb. 13 trade with Ottawa.”I thought the first goal by Thompson was huge for us,” said Kings coach John Stevens. ”It really got us going and we really had some momentum after that.”Alex Iafallo had two goals, and Tanner Pearson and Jeff Carter also scored for Los Angeles. Carter’s goal came on a shorthanded breakaway. Christian Folin had three assists and Jonathan Quick stopped 30 shots.Columbus coach John Tortorella also believed Thompson’s initial goal sparked the Kings.”I thought we lost our composure and never totally got it back,” Tortorella said. ”I don’t think the support was there like it was in the first period. They played better. We didn’t make enough plays. There were some plays to be made. We had some good minutes.”I thought Quick made some key saves. He played better and better as the game went on.”Cam Atkinson and Seth Jones scored the early goals for the Blue Jackets. Joonas Korpisalo saved 29 shots on goal for Columbus.Atkinson’s goal came from a nifty backwards pass from behind the net from Mat Calvert that went through the legs of Anze Kopitar and to the charging Atkinson, who snapped it behind Quick’s back. The Kings scored three times in the second period to take a lead they would never relinquish. They looked like a much different team than the one that trailed 2-0 after the first period.”They came out hot,” Folin said. ”We kind of got on our heels. You have to give them credit. They came out really good.”But we talked in the room after the first period Adrian Kempe Jersey , that we needed to respond. We have 40 minutes to turn this thing around. And we did.”The Kings had played back-to-back games in a home-and-away series with the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday and Tuesday, but Stevens thought his team was ready for Columbus.”We were a step, maybe two steps, slow in the first period,” he said. ”It seemed like we were late to pucks, we were late to checks. They were playing the game at a lot higher pace than we were.”I think the room was ready, we were just a step off. We weren’t trying to change anything tactically, just our whole game pace had to come up a step and it did.”NOTES: The Kings signed their 2017 first-round pick (11th overall), Gabe Vilardi, to a three-year entry-level contract. The 18-year-old forward from Kingston http://www.kingsproshop.com/authentic-alex-iafallo-jersey , Ontario, has played in 134 career games in the Ontario Hockey League, totaling 142 points (60-82). … Iafallo scored twice Thursday, but had only six goals entering the game. … The Kings have won three straight and six of their last eight. … The Blue Jackets remain two points ahead of Carolina for the final wild-card berth in the Eastern Conference.UP NEXTBlue Jackets: Continue their three-game trip in California on Friday in Anaheim.Kings: Remain at home to play Chicago on Saturday.— TAMPA, Fla. — After being the final team in the league to start the season, the Tampa Bay Lightning finally get the chance to be back on the ice Thursday when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday at Amalie Arena.Tampa Bay has been off since opening the season with a shootout victory against the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Vancouver, meanwhile, already has three games under its belt following Tuesday’s loss at Carolina. The Lightning, a Stanley Cup favorite this season, looked anything like a top contender despite the victory on opening night after allowing 43 shots on goal to the Panthers. With the extended time off between games Womens Anze Kopitar Jersey , Tampa Bay went back to a training camp mindset looking to have a stronger showing in the second game.Article continues below ...“We need to raise our compete level, we didn’t execute plays like we usually do,” Lightning forward Yanni Gourde said. “We turned too many pucks over and that was part of why we played like we did in the first period. We know we need to work on that and we were out on the ice (for practice) and working hard it it, so that’s good for us.”Despite the victory on opening night, the Lightning are aware their level of play needs to rise quickly to live up to the expectations they have for themselves, let alone the outside expectations. They should get a boost with the return of Tyler Johnson, who missed the final two weeks of preseason plus the season opener due to an upper-body injury.Johnson has been practicing all week with the team and expects to be in the lineup when Tampa Bay returns to action. That has forced head coach Jon Cooper to move some personnel around when it comes to line combinations.“There’s parts of our game we liked from last game and some we didn’t,” Cooper said. “We are trying to find the best mix possible so we can score more than one shorthanded goal in a game. This is what we’re doing now. We’re just trying to find the chemistry a little bit.”The Canucks don’t have similar expectations in the first year of the post-Sedin era. Vancouver is in the midst of a rebuild with the likes of Bo Horvat, Brock Boesner and Calder Trophy candidate Elias Pettersson. But, starting the season with one victory in three games leaves a bit of an empty feeling despite the optimism with some of the youth injected in to the lineup.“Losing sucks Authentic Derek Forbort Jersey Kids ,” Horvat told the Vancouver Province. “No matter how many goals you score, if you lose at the end of the day, it’s still a loss. For us, that’s our main focus: We want to win hockey games. That’s the main goal.”Canucks head coach Travis Green has been moving the lines around to try to find the right mix of offense — which has not been a problem in the early going — and defense, which has been a bit of an issue, allowing 14 goals in the opening three games.

When the Washington Capitals faced the New York Islanders in the playoffs five years in a row in the 1980s Youth Corey Crawford Jersey , players knew everything. They knew where Mike Bossy loved to shoot from, that Bob Nystrom was going to run them over and that they’d better watch out for Denis Potvin in the neutral zone.”We became so used to one another we were expected to play the Islanders in the playoffs,” former Capitals winger Craig Laughlin said. ”At some point, we always knew we were going to play them.”It’s starting to feel that way now for the Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins, who are meeting in the second round of the playoffs for the third consecutive year. Two teams playing each other over and over again in the postseason is a common theme in NHL history, especially when 16 of the 21 teams faced off in a divisional format similar to what has been in place since 2014 and is responsible for Capitals-Penguins III.The Capitals faced the New York Rangers from 2011-13 and the Chicago Blackhawks played the Vancouver Canucks from 2009-11. Hockey has changed plenty since the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens played series seven years in a row from 1984-90, but all that familiarity still breeds a whole lot of contempt.”For the players, it’s more difficult,” said former Edmonton defenseman Kevin Lowe, whose Oilers faced Winnipeg three playoffs in a row from 1983-85. ”The body checks are heavier, the cross-checks are harder, the slashes behind the play are harder.”Lowe doesn’t think there are any advantages to players seeing the same opponent over and over again in the playoffs. Even on a Stanley Cup-champion team in Edmonton, there was always pressure to beat the Jets because they had done it in previous years.Seeing the Penguins beat the Capitals on the way to the Cup the past two years, Lowe believes the stronger motivation belongs to Washington.”They’ve made their life miserable, so that amps them up more,” Lowe said. ”There’s no real advantage to the team that’s winning those years because you know every year’s different and you thought, `Oh, we can beat these guys because we beat them before.’ It’s a new set of circumstances every time you play.”Former Philadelphia defenseman Brad Marsh recalled similar circumstances when the Flyers faced the Rangers in the playoffs in the ’80s. New York was often dozens of points back in the standings and yet won their series sometimes.Players also changed teams less frequently back then Duncan Keith Jersey , so the series felt like the continuation of a never-ending rivalry that began each fall in the preseason and was renewed in the playoffs.”You certainly develop a hate for the team a little quicker because you’ve played them so many times in the regular season leading into the playoffs, and if you play them year after year, it certainly does give you extra motivation not to lose to them again,” Marsh said. ”You did know how each player played or what their strengths or weaknesses were.”By now, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin said he and his teammates know ”pretty much everything” about the Penguins, just like they did about the Rangers a few years ago. Coach Barry Trotz joked there was ”less scouting, shorter days” before acknowledging, ”We’ll be looking for those little edges you can get when you start playing teams multiple times.”Even back in Laughlin’s day, the scouting reports – printed out on paper – were extensive. When Marsh faced the Rangers, he knew how to defend certain players in front of the net and what to expect from an opponent’s stars.Sometimes that’s a no brainer. The Capitals have to watch out for Sidney Crosby, the Penguins for Ovechkin and the 1980s Jets for Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier.Rick Tocchet, who played with Marsh on the Flyers in the ’80s and was an assistant coach with Pittsburgh in 2016 and 2017, thinks repeatedly facing the same team brings out different aspects in players.”If you were a skill guy, you’d probably go out of your way to hit a guy,” Tocchet said. ”If you really were an aggressive-type player, you’d try to make sure you’d continue to be aggressive and be willing to hit their best players. When you play a team so many times you’re willing to go out of your comfort zone to win those games.”Having an elite team like the Islanders and Oilers dynasties of the ’80s carried with it some pressure, but beating the same opponent repeatedly in the playoffs had one benefit.”Knowing that there would be an element of doubt in there,” Lowe said. ”If you get them down in a series and things are looking bleak where that element of doubt might creep in quicker for the team that hasn’t won. It takes a while before you can actually get an opponent to that position.”The mental battle starts well before Game 1. Speaking from experience http://www.officialblackhawksproshop.com/authentic-adidas-gustav-forsling-jersey , Laughlin thought he and the Capitals could always go toe-to-toe with the Islanders. He figures that’s the only way to approach this kind of situation.”You need that feeling that this is a new year, it’s a new season, it’s a new series and why can’t we win?” Laughlin said. ”It is belief that you have a better team and a belief that you are playing better than them at the moment. I think that’s the only thing you can sort of feed off of is you have more belief in your game the way you’re playing now.”— DETROIT (AP) — There was plenty of space for Erik Gustafsson to shoot the puck himself, but with Patrick Kane alone to the right of the net, his decision was obvious.“He’s a pretty good goal scorer, so I gave it to him,” Gustafsson said.Kane’s second goal of the game, with 2:18 left in overtime, gave the Chicago Blackhawks a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. Kane extended his point streak to 19 games and helped the Blackhawks recover after blowing a 4-1 lead in the third period.Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou scored two goals each for the Red Wings, who tied it late in the third. But Kane fired home the pass from Gustafsson in overtime, beating goalie Jonathan Bernier for his 38th goal of the season.“It really didn’t feel good from 4-1 on, because we didn’t have a lot of possession and we weren’t creating chances,” Kane said.Artem Anisimov, Brandon Saad and Alex DeBrincat scored for Chicago in the first period. The Blackhawks have won 10 of their last 12 games, and this was the seventh time in that span that they scored at least five goals.Chicago is now tied with Colorado for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference.“Well, I’d rather be in than out,” coach Jeremy Colliton said. “We still need to work on our game. Our game isn’t where it needs to be for us to compete in the playoffs, and we’re going to have to play better to get the points we need coming down the stretch.”Kane trails league leader Alex Ovechkin by just four goals now John Hayden Jersey , although his goals Wednesday were his only points of the night. His assist streak ended at 17 games.Chicago beat Ottawa 8-7 on Monday, and the Blackhawks went through another high-scoring night against Detroit. Anisimov made it 1-0 after only 99 seconds, but Larkin answered for the Red Wings a few minutes later.Saad scored his 21st goal of the season, and DeBrincat’s 33rd made it 3-1 before the end of the period. In the second, Kane came down on a 2-on-1 break with Jonathan Toews. Kane took the shot himself, beating Jimmy Howard to make it 4-1. Howard was then replaced, having allowed four goals on eight shots.“Sometimes it’s just not your night. That doesn’t mean it’s on him,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. “If Kane is going down on a 2-on-1, he’s scoring on lots of goalies. I thought DeBrincat’s shot was a great shot, I thought Saad’s shot was a great shot.”Larkin brought the Red Wings within two with his 26th of the season, and Athanasiou made it 4-3 when he scored on the power play with 14:37 left in regulation. Athanasiou lifted the puck from behind the goal line, next to the net, and it bounced off goalie Cam Ward and in.The Red Wings had their goalie pulled when they tied it with 1:26 left in the third. Mike Green appeared to mis-hit a shot from near the blue line, but Anthony Mantha corralled the puck to the left of the net and slid it across the goalmouth to Athanasiou, who had an easy shot from the other side.“We weren’t happy at all with how we played in the first two periods. We made it an easy night for them,” Larkin said. “I felt like we were waiting for things to happen. They were getting bounces and scoring easy. The way we played in the third, it was a great comeback.”NOTES: Kane has 16 goals in 26 assists during his point streak. … Detroit outshot Chicago 35-20. … Blackhawks F Drake Caggiula left the game with an eye injury.UP NEXTBlackhawks: Host Colorado on Friday night.Red Wings: Host Minnesota on Friday night.

College football’s postseason inches ever closer. After a Week 11 that had no blockbuster games but several really fun ones Youth Brian Poole Jersey , the picture’s getting just a bit clearer. The same disclaimer as every week goes here: Many, many teams win and lose every week, and this list is not exhaustive. Think of it as a list of extra big winners and losers. Winner: NorthwesternFinally, the world has smiled down on students and alums of this hardscrabble school. The Wildcats won the Big Ten West by beating Iowa and getting losses elsewhere from Purdue and Wisconsin. They will probably be a light snack for Michigan (or Ohio State, but probably Michigan) in the conference title game, but maybe they won’t be. Since an embarrassing home loss to Akron back in September, the only losses they’ve taken were by three to the Wolverines and by 10 (in what was a one-score game for a while) to Notre Dame. And this moment was really cool: Winner: OklahomaBedlam was extremely Bedlam in two ways: It was wild.Oklahoma won.The Sooners probably don’t control their own Playoff fate. But they’re still in the hunt and still better than the other half of this one-sided rivalry.Winner: Ohio StateThe Buckeyes played Michigan State with their Playoff hopes on the line and avoided losing because of Dark Spartan Magic. That alone is an achievement. Loser: Members of the broader viewing public who spent time watching Ohio State vs. Michigan StateThe ugliest “big” game of the year, bar none. It featured multiple horrible punts, shanked field goals, dropped passes and interceptions, and third-quarter intentional safeties somehow gone even more awry than those words suggest on their own. The Spartans did two cool things — one a 47-yard run by backup QB Rocky Lombardi that seemed to totally fool Greg Schiano’s defense, the other a wideout pass for a long touchdown, which an ineligible-man-downfield penalty in turn wiped out. All of us who sat through this sordid mess of a 26-6 Buckeye win are losers Youth Takkarist McKinley Jersey , except, of course, the winners themselves.Loser: TV networks, generallyThere were no marquee matchups, and only one Power 5 game turned out to be all that good. Speaking of that game ...Winner: TexasThere’s a solid chance it won’t get Texas into the Big 12 title game or anything, but the Longhorns won the day’s most exciting game on a REVERSE MICHAEL CRABTREE. That’s to say their winning touchdown in the final seconds at Texas Tech ... ... was the same exact play as Crabtree’s legendary score to beat them in 2008: I hope UT fans found some catharsis in that. I would have. Winner: Feleipe FranksThe Florida QB shushed his own booing home crowd multiple times. He also went 15-of-21 for 161 yards, a touchdown, no picks, and a 151 rating in beating Will Muschamp’s South Carolina in The Swamp.Franks even had a 38-yard punt. What brilliance. Loser: Kansas The Jayhawks came close to beating rival Kansas State in the last minute. Then quarterback Payton Bender forced a fumble against himself to seal a loss: Beating K-State with lame-duck coach David Beaty — whom the might school fired ahead of time just so he couldn’t save his job with a win here —would’ve been amazing. Winner: PittThe Panthers put a death grip on the ACC Coastal by running over Virginia Tech. They’ve won three of their last four, and of their four losses, three were against Penn State, UCF, and Notre Dame. (They also lost to 1-8 North Carolina Youth Calvin Ridley Jersey , because reasons.) Any Pitt win or Virginia loss the next two weeks clinches the division for Pat Narduzzi’s team and puts it in the league title game against Clemson, a team that, uh, might not be all that excited about that. Loser: Larry FedoraHe’s become a regular member of this bad half of this list. Bill Connelly writes: On the bright side, UNC beat Pitt earlier this year, and Pitt might just go ahead and win the ACC. How can you fire the only coach to beat the conference champ? (I’m kidding about Pitt winning the ACC. I think.) Winner: Jimbo FisherThe Aggies came from behind to avoid a loss to Ole Miss, which would’ve been their fifth of the year. Five losses was right where S&P+ projected A&M before the year, but it’s still probably for the best for Jimbo Fisher to not have five losses in his first 10 games after replacing a guy who got fired for perpetually going 8-5.Winner: Washington StateThe Cougars beat Colorado, 31-7. They were supposed to do that. It’s been established that the Buffaloes aren’t able to beat good teams. But it was still nice to see Wazzu, down 7-0 after a quarter, put on the jets and blow someone out on the road. The Cougs still need help, but with every week that passes, they become a more plausible Playoff team. Whether they sneak into the final four or not Womens Robert Alford Jersey , they look like an increasingly sure New Year’s Six team. Loser: MarylandThe Terps, who’ve been sitting on five wins for a few weeks, were driving toward bowl eligibility late in their game at Indiana. Down two, they got to the Hoosiers’ 48 with a minute left and a timeout to spare. Then quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome fumbled a game-winning chance away. Maryland now has to beat either Ohio State or Penn State to avoid missing a bowl for the second straight year. Neither will happen, so this one will sting. Their players still deserve credit for playing hard with all kinds of turmoil unfolding around them. Winner: Old DominionODU is 3-7 on the year. Its three wins: Over No. 13 Virginia Tech in the biggest spread upset of the season (28 points)Over WKU by way of the wildest end-of-game sequence of the seasonOver North Texas on Saturday, 34-31, after starting the game down 28-0The Monarchs are bad this year, but when they win, it’s fun as hell. They’ve packed more fun into three wins than plenty of teams will pack into eight or nine. Loser: Fresno StateEntering the week, the Bulldogs had a fair NY6 case, even if you granted that whoever wins the AAC is likely to take the Group of 5 auto-bid. Then they lost a weird, somewhat controversial game at Boise State. The New Year’s bowls are now out of the question for Jeff Tedford, and that’s a shame given how good Fresno’s been. Utah State is now the Mountain West’s lone New Year’s case Womens Ryan Schraeder Jersey , two weeks ahead of a huge game against Boise. Winner: CincinnatiThe Bearcats beat USF. They still have just one loss, and they play unbeaten UCF next week. Temple technically remains between Cincy and UCF in the standings due to a tiebreaker over Cincy, but if the Bearcats can beat the Knights and all of these teams otherwise win out, the AAC East would fall into some tiebreaker chaos. (You can try to figure it out here, but enough things can still change that it might be a futile exercise.) In short, though, if Cincy can beat UCF in Cincy, the Bearcats will have a decent shot at the division and thus an inside track to that New Year’s bid. Loser: NC StateThe Wolfpack, ranked 14th and still with a New Year’s Six bowl chance, had leads of 16-6 and 23-13 in the second half against Wake Forest. They blew all of that by giving up two touchdowns in the last 6:07 to drop a third game out of four, squandering the considerable good faith the Playoff committee had shown it after a blowout loss at Clemson and a narrower loss to Syracuse. NCSU’s now bound for a fine but mediocre season, as is its historical standard. Any hopes this year would be special are now dead. Winner: Face masks as protective equipmentYeah, that’s a ball bouncing like 26 yards off a dude’s face mask http://www.falconsfootballauthentics.com/julio-jones-jersey-authentic , setting up a scoop-and-score touchdown for Army against FCS Lafayette. I had no idea that was physically possible. I am equal parts bamboozled, awed, and giddy. Would you just look at this kinetic energy? It’s just tremendous. The Arizona Cardinals have apparently been keeping close tabs on the Atlanta Falcons this past week, and apparently they’ve been pretty excited about the cuts the Birds have been making. The Cardinals have reportedly come to terms with Brooks Reed, who was the final of Atlanta’s first wave of cuts this week. This comes just two days after it was reported that Arizona was signing Robert Alford to a three year, $22.5 million contract.Reed will be signing on with Arizona for $2 million this season, which seems like good value for someone who at the very least is an above average run defender, even if the sacks were never really there for the Falcons (7.0 sacks in four seasons).Reed is an Arizona native, who was born in Tucson and went to the University of Arizona before being drafted into the NFL. I’m just speculating here, but he might’ve taken a hometown discount to sign with the Cardinals. All in all, it’s always a nice story when someone gets to go home and play for his childhood city.Cardinals reporter Darren Urban expects Reed to slot in as a linebacker for Arizona — the position he played for the first five years of his career before Dan Quinn moved him to defensive end.

In his first career start, Brandon Powell saw a career-high 47 snaps and earned a career-high 107 receiving yards. No Luke Willson meant that Levine Toilolo and Jerome Cunningham took on more of a role with the offense. Joe Dahl and Tyrell Crosby split time as the sixth linemen in on certain packages. With Nick Bellore back as the full-time fullback, the Lions didn’t need to use either as much. The Lions were clearly focused on devoting as many resources to the secondary. Seven different defensive backs played more than 50 percent of the snaps, while that was true for just two players on the defensive line. It was a quiet day from Damon Harrison, which makes sense considering the Packers ran just 13 times on Sunday—and four of those were quarterback runs. Teez Tabor had an active day, playing the second-highest percentage of snaps in his career. It was a fairly quiet day from Tabor, which is always a good thing for an NFL cornerback. At safety, both Tracy Walker and Tavon Wilson got more playing time than veteran Glover Quin. Despite the sharing of the wealth, Miles Killebrew was purely a special teams player. Killebrew went the entire season without playing a single defensive snap. Special teamsSam Martin: 16 (67%)Don Muhlbach: 10 (42%)Matt Prater: 6 (25%)Film breakdown: How Frank Ragnow became an elite pass protector overnight The first two games of Frank Ragnow’s career as a Detroit Lion did not go as well as everyone (including the Pride of Detroit staff) had hoped they would. One of the big selling points pumping up the perceived value in “stealing” the former Razorback in the first round was that he did not surrender a single sack in his entire college career. Imagine our surprise, then Sam Martin Jersey , when Detroit’s new starting left guard struggled in pass protection against the Jets in Week 1 and again against the 49ers in Week 2. His outing at Levi’s Stadium was so bad, it earned a pretty horrific grade from Pro Football Focus.Along with the rest of the team, though, the rookie turned it around in Week 3 against the Patriots. While Cris Collinsworth lavished praise upon Ragnow’s run blocking throughout the broadcast, on second re-watch of the game film we were pleasantly surprised by how consistent his pass blocking was (he “lost” maybe two or three pass protection reps all night). Fearless leader Jeremy Reisman asked what changed: how does Frank Ragnow go from PFF doghouse to PFF team of the week?To hopefully shed some light on this puzzle, we unfortunately must go back to the unpleasant tape from the games against the Jets and Niners.Chasing to the outsideSomething that came out in bad tape from the first two games was a tendency for Ragnow to set for the outside rush and not make it back inside in time to close off the interior lane. Securing the inside is critical because the edge blocking depends on having a clean place for the quarterback to step up into and the players inside have the shortest and most direct path to the passer. A collapsed pocket often leads to a broken play or a sack.2018 Week 1 vs NYJ, 2Q (0:21). Third-and-3 at the New York 3.On the last offensive play of the opening half in Week 1, the Lions had an opportunity to take a final shot at the end zone. The play call is mirrored curl-flat combinations to spread the field on both sides and 25 HB Theo Riddick sitting down in front of Stafford near the goal line. New York came with four-man pressure, sending former Lion 51 LB Brandon Copeland twisting to the inside behind 96 DL Henry Anderson.Ragnow lunges at Anderson as he makes the first lateral move on the switch. That throws the rookie off balance and prevents him from picking up Copeland up the gut. 9 QB Matthew Stafford is forced to sail the ball out of bounds and Detroit settles for a field goal.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 1Q (5:28). Third-and-7 at the Detroit 34.Matched up one-on-one with 94 DL Solomon Thomas over his outside shoulder Quandre Diggs Jersey , Ragnow takes his initial two shuffle steps to the outside. Unfortunately, Thomas explodes off the snap across the guard’s face and makes a beeline for the A-gap. Stafford comes under immediate pressure and only a broken tackle by Riddick moves the chains.Going for a swimIt was remarkable how nearly all of the other really bad defeats for Ragnow in pass protection were at the hands of swim moves. There are so many examples that this article will just present three of them so we can actually get to the “good” tape against the Patriots.2018 Week 1 vs NYJ, 3Q (8:16). Third-and-1 at the Detroit 34.This is the pick-six interception play that really blew the “Monday Night Football” game open in the third quarter. Ragnow has Anderson one-on-one and bites on the jab step to the inside. With 68 LT Taylor Decker occupied by Copeland on the outside and 60 C Graham Glasgow tied up with the 1-tech, there is nobody left to assist once Anderson’s left arm is up and over.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 1Q (5:34). Second-and-7 at the Detroit 34.Matched up against 96 DL Sheldon Day angled on his left shoulder, Ragnow takes lateral steps to the outside to try and get better position. Similar to the inside rush we saw earlier by Thomas, Day takes advantage by going up and over with his right arm. Stafford is flushed from the pocket and prevented from setting his feet, resulting in a poor throw that hits the turf in front of 15 WR Golden Tate.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 2Q (0:49). First-and-10 at the Detroit 34.Near the end of the first half of the San Francisco game, the Lions had just under a minute on the clock and managed to eke out a field goal. The GIF above is from the first play of that drive Glover Quin Jersey , and shows Stafford taking an absolutely monster hit from 99 DL DeForest Buckner. The Niners overloaded the right side of their line, forcing the Lions to go one-on-one against Thomas (with Glasgow), Buckner (with Ragnow), and 54 DL Cassius Marsh off the edge (with Decker). The patient “one way go”In a way, pass blockers trying to guard against multiple rush lanes can be like defenders trying to guard against multiple routes; we sometimes hear about players like Theo Riddick running a two way go with the freedom to go inside or outside. One plan to defend that is to commit to taking one option away by positioning and simply challenge them on the other option. Back in 2014, then-defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said this: “We try to, based on our coverages, funnel a guy one way or the other, where we think the help might be. We try not to give him the two way go but sometimes it happens.”Instead of trying to move laterally and react to whichever way the opponent would go, it seemed like the plan for Ragnow against New England was to commit to getting a good base http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-ricky-jean-francois-jersey , focusing on hands and grip, then giving up a little ground to play it safe inside. Rather than facing straight up on rushers, he kept the middle clean by consistently walling off the interior approach and funneling his rusher to the outside.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (9:12). Second-and-10 at the New England 48.Here is a great example of what we are talking about: Ragnow is one-on-one with 90 DT Malcom Brown. An initial jab step at the snap by Brown tries to put some indecision into the head of the young guard, but he’s having none of it. Ragnow’s stance angle invites the defender to take the outside, and this gives the rookie a degree of control over the situation since he now gets to direct where the rusher is going. The protection is good, and Stafford rifles it down the field for a chunk gain of 18 yards to Tate.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (3:19). First-and-10 at the 50-yard line.A bit later in the first quarter at midfield, the Lions’ first-round pick is up against 70 DL Adam Butler. Ignoring a shoulder fake by Butler to the inside, Ragnow stays committed to protecting the inside Cheap Ziggy Ansah Jersey , letting 29 HB LeGarrette Blount pick up the delayed linebacker blitz.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 3Q (4:53). Second-and-17 at the Detroit 18.Armed with control and focus, at times it got pretty ridiculous. Here is Ragnow using a big man’s momentum against him, throwing the 320-pound Brown to the ground judo-style.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (4:53). First-and-10 at the Detroit 40.In this early play-action pass called in the first quarter, Ragnow steers Butler to the outside and rides him off into the sunset. Stafford is all alone in the pocket and able to toss an easy ball to Blount for 8 yards. As best as I can tell, the first time the Patriots attempted to force the issue to the inside one-on-one against Ragnow was with 71 DT Danny Shelton on the final play of the third quarter. That inside rush was picked up and walled off flawlessly, and the quick-hitting rub arrow to Tate on the perimeter went for 25 yards. Between the dominant run blocking and amazing consistency in pass protection, this was an outstanding job by the rookie and offensive line coach Jeff Davidson to fix the issues of the first two games.

There wasn’t much good to say about Sam Bradford in his brief three weeks as an Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback.By nearly every metric Bradford struggled to put up even average numbers. If you needed any more reason to know that the Bradford was shot Youth Mason Cole Jersey , at least for the Cardinals, this nugget from ESPN should unequivocally show that.Bradford in 2018 was the second worst passer from the pocket. That’s supposed to be his bread and butter, where he thrived and why the Cardinals brought him in.However, through two games and three quarters, only the other big free agent signing from the Minnesota Vikings, Case Keenum, was worse. Not even rookies like Sam Darnold and Josh Allen Youth Larry Fitzgerald Jersey , who play for miserable teams and have struggled to get going, were as bad as Bradford. That’s where the Cardinals offense was under Bradford. Josh Dobbs is good with numbers.Look no further than his aerospace engineering degree as proof.Still Cheap Kolton Miller Jersey , the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback isn't in the mood to do the math heading into his team's final preseason game on Thursday night against Carolina. The Steelers have four quarterbacks under contract. The odds of there being four on the roster when they head to Cleveland to get things going for real on Sept. 9 are slim.Very slim.Ben Roethlisberger has the starting job until he doesn't want it anymore. Landry Jones is a capable backup. The Steelers used a third-round pick on Mason Rudolph in April. That leaves Dobbs — a fourth-round pick in 2017 — as seemingly the one most likely to be elsewhere come September. He insists he's not worried about the future."I think that's something that you guys (the media) like to play with," Dobbs said. "But for me I just play football. I can't control a lot of things. I can control how I approach every day and how I practice and how I play."And Dobbs has taken significant strides in his second camp. The game has slowed down and his decision-making has sped up. He's thrown for a team-high three touchdowns during the preseason while completing 68 percent of his passes."Last year (as a rookie) when you break the huddle, you're trying to figure out your eyes, figure out what you're trying to do, to make sure you say the play right in the huddle and then get to the line of scrimmage Seth Roberts Jersey , read, react and play football," Dobbs said."Now you know how each play is trying to attack the defense, where you want to go with the ball and if they give you an obscure look you know how to get your team in good plays."Dobbs has also become more patient in letting a play develop instead of just taking off at the first hint of trouble."Now when he's running, he's running at the right time Cheap P.J. Hall Jersey ," Jones said.Coach Mike Tomlin didn't immediately rule out the Steelers holding onto all four quarterbacks past cut-down day on Saturday when rosters are pared from 90 to 53."You are certainly capable of it," Tomlin said. "If you look at what happens in the National Football League it has been done. In today's NFL, two are probably kept more times than four so it's probably less frequent than two at this juncture."Cutting Dobbs outright and hoping to stash him on the practice squad seems unlikely. He's shown enough flashes that he would almost certainly be picked up on the waiver wire. The Steelers, who have depth concerns at offensive line and tight end, could also hold on to Dobbs then deal him before the opener.Dobbs will do his best to drown out the noise and focus on putting what he can on tape that will serve as his resume to hold on to the job he has in Pittsburgh or to find one elsewhere."I think I've performed well http://www.raiderscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-marcus-gilchrist-jersey ," he said. "I know that ultimate decision isn't in my hands ... I'll (play) however long they want me. I'll take advantage of all the reps, I tell you that."While Dobbs and dozens of other players try to make one last impression in Pittsburgh, newly acquired wide receiver Ryan Switzer will try to make his first. The Steelers acquired Switzer from Oakland on Monday. He arrived in Pittsburgh early Tuesday, practiced that afternoon and Thursday night will find himself returning kicks and possibly even getting in for an offensive snap or two."I know the return game is going to be something I can pick up quicker," Switzer said. "I'm going to try and dive into the offensive playbook and find my niche there."The Steelers have no plans to have All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown to return punts but no heir apparent came to the fore during training camp. Enter Switzer Donald Penn Jersey , who averaged 8.8 yards per punt return while playing for Dallas as a rookie in 2017.Switzer is well acquainted with Heinz Field. The Charleston, West Virginia, native managed to get on the field for a competition as a kid then starred for North Carolina in two trips to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers. He returned nine kicks (seven punts, two kickoffs) for touchdowns for the Tar Heels. After being traded twice in five months, he's ready for a chance to exhale and just go play."Hopefully I can get back to what I was doing in college and things that made me the player that I am Kelechi Osemele Jersey ," he said. Three Raiders players are listed as questionable for the Raiders for Monday’s game against the Broncos, including their starting corners Daryl Worley (shoulder) and Gareon Conley (concussion). The third is defensive tackle Maurice Hurst.Conley was limited all week in the concussion protocol and Gruden said he still has steps left to be cleared to play. Worley missed the first two practices with a shoulder injury before returning limited Friday.Though Hurst is officially listed as questionable for the game against the Broncos, the prognosis doesn’t seem good. He missed practice all week with an ankle injury which usually signals that he won’t be able to play. He missed the game against the Steelers two weeks ago and aggravated the injury last week against the Bengals. Gruden said Friday that Hurst’s ankles is “not getting much better.”The Broncos will be without cornerback and return specialist Brendan Langley. He is out.Final injury reportRaiders......Raiders......

Greetings Falcoholics! Because the Pro Bowl has been in Orlando http://www.authenticsatlantafalcons.com/cheap-jake-matthews-jersey , I’ve been fortunate enough to attend the “All-star” event. Sure, the players don’t tackle, and a lot of the top players (like Julio Jones) don’t actually participate, but it’s still a good time. Pro Bowl WeekPro Bowl Week kicks off at the nearby ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort where most of the festivities are held. They hold Pep Rallies, Play Football events, Pro Bowl Experiences, and of course the Pro Bowl Practices for the AFC and NFC. Honestly, this is where you have the most fun. Players are goofing off the entire time, and you get pretty close to them during the practices. They’ll walk over and sign for the fans and take pictures. The “Pro Bowl Experience” is held next to the practice, which has an interactive fan zone with fun activities for the whole family. Fans can do everything from run the 40-yard dash to meet up with some NFL mascots, such as Sourdough Sam of the San Francisco 49ers. They also have the Pro Bowl Skills Showdown where players showcase their athletic abilities in events such as dodgeball. ESPN’s NFL Live usually does a live broadcast at nearby Disney Springs, where my dad, his cousin, and I got to meet Herm Edwards after taping. I even got to appear on that episode. This was at the 2017 Pro Bowl and they handed out signs to hold for the NFL MVP candidates, so of course I held up a Matt Ryan one.TailgatingLike at every NFL game Black Terrell McClain Jersey , tailgating is a must do. The difference at the Pro Bowl is you have fans of all 32 NFL teams being represented, so you’ll see Packers and Vikings fans hanging out, Colts and Texans fans enjoying a beer, etc.The GameI must say, the Pro Bowl is something that must be experienced in-person. As you witness on television, the players barely tackle, the quarterbacks seem to have minutes when they snap the ball, it’s borderline pathetic effort. In person though, none of that matters. You easily get caught up in the moment of realizing the NFL talent before you, even if they aren’t really trying. During commercial breaks you’ll see mascot dance-offs and Odell Beckham Jr. dancing. In all seriousness, it’s a great time and I would definitely recommend attending the event, if given the opportunity. I’m not sure what the future holds for the Pro Bowl. I know in the eyes of many, it’s a waste of time and laughable at best, even if Austin Hooper scores in the rain. But it’s something I’ve always enjoyed watching growing up as an Atlanta Falcons fan. I always looked forward to watching my players out there interacting with guys from other teams. Also seeing Falcons’ players such as center Alex Mack getting the recognition they deserve, makes it all worth it in my eyes. Maybe they’ll keep it Black Brandon Fusco Jersey , maybe they won’t, but it’s NFL football players on a field, so I’m going to watch it.Well folks, that basically sums up my experiences attending the Pro Bowl. As always, you can find me on Twitter @EvanBirchfield, and make sure to follow our Instagram account @The_Falcoholic. Thanks for reading, and remember, the Saints blew a 13-0 lead in the NFC Championship. ATLANTA (AP) 鈥?Brett Maher got another shot on the final play of the game. This time, he made it count.Maher's 42-yard field goal as time expired Sunday gave Dallas a 22-19 victory over the Atlanta Falcons after the resurgent Cowboys squandered a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.A month ago, Maher clanked a 52-yarder off the left upright that would've forced overtime in a 20-17 loss to Washington. And he had to shake off a missed extra point earlier Sunday that gave the Falcons an opening to tie it up."I was confident," Maher said. "Every time I step on the field, the goal is to go one for one. Everyone in here is doing so much for our team. For the offense to be able to drive the ball down the field and get us in position again, and L.P. (snapper Louis-Philippe Ladouceur) and Chris (Jones, the holder) coming through like they always do, I was just happy to do my part."The Cowboys (5-5) have won two straight on the road and trail Washington by only one game in the NFC East after the division leaders lost at home to Houston Youth Vic Beasley Jr Jersey , 23-21. The teams meet on Thanksgiving Day with first place on the line."We've got a big one against as big a rival as there is in sports," Dallas owner Jerry Jones said. "We have a lot at stake there."Atlanta (4-6) dropped its second in a row and now faces long odds to reach the postseason 鈥?especially playing in the NFC South, where the Falcons trail New Orleans and Carolina."It's aggravating," cornerback Robert Alford said. "We've got to learn to finish games."Ezekiel Elliott had a huge day for the Cowboys in what was a defensive slugfest until a wild fourth quarter, with the teams combining for 26 points over the last 15 minutes. He had 122 yards rushing on 23 carries, including a 23-yard touchdown, and led the team with seven catches for 79 yards.Matt Ryan threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Julio Jones for Atlanta's only touchdown with 1:52 remaining to tie the game. But Dallas drove 51 yards in 10 plays,聽setting up Maher's winning kick as time expired聽.After a field goal battle between Maher and Atlanta's Matt Bryant left the Falcons with a 9-6 lead heading to the final period, Dak Prescott and Elliott scored on a pair of runs to push the Cowboys to a 19-9 lead.Grinding for every yard, Dallas needed 14 plays to cover 75 yards leading to聽Prescott's 4-yard scoring run after the quarterback faked a handoff to Elliott聽. Prescott had a couple of 17-yard passes 鈥?one to Amari Cooper, another to Cole Beasley 鈥?but no other play on the possession went for more than 5 yards.Maher hooked the extra point, however, leaving the Cowboys with a 12-9 lead. They quickly extended the margin. On Atlanta's next possession, Ryan threw a short pass to Calvin Ridley cutting over the middle. The ball was thrown a bit too hard, the rookie couldn't hang on and it聽ricocheted into the arms of Dallas linebacker Leighton Vander Esch聽. He returned his second interception in as many weeks 28 yards to the Atlanta 31."Some things happen so quick http://www.authenticsatlantafalcons.com/cheap-matt-bryant-jersey , just bang-bang plays, and you've got to be ready for them," said Vander Esch, a first-round pick of the Cowboys. "Sometimes, the ball bounces the right way."Two plays later, Elliott darted through a big hole up the middle, shook off Falcons safety Damontae Kazee at the 15 and聽powered in for the touchdown聽. Maher connected on this extra point, giving the Cowboys a 10-point lead with 12:26 remaining. It didn't hold up.Suddenly coming to life offensively, the Falcons quickly drove to the Dallas 3 before settling for Bryant's fourth field goal, a chip shot from 21 yards. The defense forced a punt, and Atlanta finally made it all the way to the end zone.Ryan lofted a pass to Jones,聽who somehow managed to come down with the ball despite tight coverage from Chidobe Awuzie聽. When Jones held the ball aloft to celebrate, Awuzie swatted it away in disgust. In the end, it was the Cowboys who celebrated.MONEY MATT RETURNSBryant resumed his duties as Atlanta's kicker after missing three games with a strained right hamstring. The 43-year-old looked as good as new, connecting on field goals of 41 Black Deion Jones Jersey , 45, 53 and 21 yards. He is 13 of 13 for the season, including four kicks of at least 50 yards."I got through everything OK," Bryant said. "Obviously, I'd rather have the win."INJURY REPORTThere appeared to be no serious injuries.Three Atlanta players went down with minor ailments: cornerback Desmond Trufant (thigh), Kazee (shoulder) and linebacker Duke Riley (neck). All were able to return.Dallas also had at least three players shaken up. Tackles La'el Collins and Tyron both left the game briefly, as did defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford.UP NEXTCowboys: This will be the second time in the past three years that Dallas has hosted Washington on Thanksgiving Day. In 2016, the Cowboys prevailed 31-26. Overall, Dallas leads the series 70-45-2.Falcons: Also have a short turnaround before playing Thursday night at division-leading New Orleans. Atlanta likely needs to win out to have any shot at making its third straight playoff appearance.

The last time the Eagles opened a season as NFL champions Authentic Frank Ragnow Jersey , it was 1960 and, well, who remembers what folks did then in Philadelphia? What they'll certainly do Thursday night at the Linc when the Falcons come to town is roar with approval at the site of the Lombardi Trophy and the championship banner. Fans will sing many, many choruses of "Fly Eagles Fly."And then the guys on the field will get down to business, defending the title they took away from New England last February. That defense will be difficult, particularly in the NFC, a stronger conference than the AFC."Quite honestly, it's going to be a great night from that standpoint," coach Doug Pederson says of the season opener. "The fans that are in attendance are going to be crazy and they're going to be excited. It's going to be great for the banner to be dropped in Lincoln Financial (Field). It's going to be a great atmosphere."I think with this football team, though, they understand this is a different season, it's a new team http://www.detroitlionsteamonline.com/sam-martin-jersey , new year. Straight up: (167-98)Best Bet: 10-9 against spread, 11-8 straight upUpset special: 10-8 against spread, 9-9 straight up One of the easiest narratives in all of football is expecting a rookie to take over after his team’s bye week. Typically this is the milestone used for first-year quarterbacks, representing a natural breaking point in the season for his team to make the change. Perhaps the same could be true for Kerryon Johnson just six weeks into his professional career. At first glance, the bye seemed to come at a time that was breaking up Johnson’s momentum, but perhaps it could be a good thing for the rookie running back. The Lions have been splitting the carries almost identically between him and LeGarrette Blount, so this might be the time the workload finally shifts. With a decent matchup on the slate, Kerryon Johnson is the Week 7 Defenses & Dragons Player of the Week.FantasyPros Ranking: RB18 (0.5 PPR)FanDuel Pricing: RB18 ($6500)Johnson has put up at least nine fantasy points in each of his last four outings, and he should have a good chance to do that again this week. The Dolphins have been a great matchup for running backs and have given up an average of 19.7 points to a team’s top back, with each player reaching at least 16 points. As expected in today’s NFL, many of these players were involved in the passing game. This is an area where Johnson is still growing Womens LeGarrette Blount Jersey , but eight targets in his last two weeks is a good sign. Blount will never be a factor in the passing game, so the role is Johnson’s to lose, especially since Theo Riddick is nursing a knee injury. Another reason to trust the young rusher this week is that Miami has played decently well against opposing receivers. Just one wideout (Jordy Nelson) has topped 15 points against them, and they have limited opposing quarterbacks and the passing game as a whole fairly effectively this season. It seems like every single week fans are waiting for Johnson to break out, but he is more likely to gradually gain timeshare than to take it all at once. He has performed better each week and faces a team that has ceded points to running backs all year. The public is starting to feel this potential as well, treating him as a mid-RB2. This should be the expectation for him going forward. Johnson should have a good outing against the Dolphins, and it could be the first of many big weeks to come.Prediction: 15 carries, 80 yards, 1 touchdown; 4 receptions, 20 yards; 18.0 fantasy points
