LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears are rolling into their first playoff appearance in eight years, with nine wins in 10 games and their sights set on a bigger prize after capturing the NFC North.“This is where it gets real,” coach Matt Nagy said Monday. From four straight last-place finishes to hosting a wild-card matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, it’s been quite a transformation for the Bears over the past 12 months. A busy offseason that started with former coach John Fox getting fired and ended with the blockbuster trade for Khalil Mack has paid off in a big way. Now, it seems anything is possible. But as far as Nagy is concerned, it’s business as usual this week.“Don’t stay up later at night just because it’s the playoffs,” he said. “Why? Just do the normal stuff that you’ve been doing. It’s been working. Why do you need to change it now, because it’s the playoffs? No, just continue to do what you do.”What the Bears (12-4) are doing seems to be working quite well. They more than doubled their win total after going 5-11 a year ago while posting their best regular-season record since the 2006 team went 13-3 and reached the Super Bowl. The Bears refused to let up in a 24-10 victory at Minnesota that knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs. They went with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky the whole way and only held out previously injured starters. With Philadelphia also beating Washington, the Eagles claimed the final wild card over the Vikings. That sets up a playoff matchup with no shortage of story lines White Gale Sayers Jerseys , starting with Nagy going against his friend Doug Pederson. The two worked together under Andy Reid in Philadelphia and Kansas City.Trubisky will be making his first playoff appearance, and there will be brothers on opposite sides — Bears guard Kyle Long and Eagles defensive end Chris Long.“I’m happy for both of us and proud of him,” Kyle Long said Sunday, after returning from a right foot injury that caused him to miss eight games. “They’ve had a tough start and they’ve battled back and they have an incredibly talented team, so it’s going to be a tough game at home.”It’s been a tough road back to the playoffs for Chicago. The drought cost three coaches their jobs and led to shrinking crowds as fans’ frustration mounted. Chicago is making its first playoff appearance since the 2010 season, when it won the division and lost to Green Bay in the NFC title game. The Bears fired Lovie Smith after going 10-6 in 2012 and continued to unravel from there. Marc Trestman lasted two seasons. Fox was let go after three seasons with a 14-34 record, a .292 winning percentage that ranked as the second-lowest in franchise history. But look at the Bears now.A team that started the season by blowing a 20-point lead against an injured Aaron Rodgers in a loss at Green Bay has its sights set on a Super Bowl run.The Bears gave up a league-low 17.7 points per game during the regular season and ranked third in total defense. No team forced as many turnovers (36) or intercepted as many passes (27). And though the offense has been inconsistent in Nagy’s first year, there has been growth, particularly from Trubisky. He has a 109.7 rating over the past three games, completing just under 76 percent of his passes for three touchdowns without an interception.“I am very proud of this team,” Trubisky said. “This was a big turnaround from last year, being in the same locker room with these guys but having a whole different feeling. … Looking back Gale Sayers Jerseys 2019 , we have got 12 wins and we are playing at home in the playoffs, and we are excited for this next opportunity. If we keep doing what we are doing, hopefully we can do something special and keep rolling.”NOTES: Nagy said he hopes Long can play the entire game after being in for 27 snaps on Sunday. … Nagy sounded optimistic WR Allen Robinson (ribs), S Eddie Jackson (ankle) and LB Aaron Lynch (elbow) will be available after missing the Minnesota game. “I’m hoping they’re all ready to go,” he said. … Nagy also downplayed the left shoulder injury WR Anthony Miller suffered against the Vikings, saying there’s “nothing significant there.” WR Taylor Gabriel also hurt his ribs, and DE Roy Robertson-Harris had “a little whiplash from enemy fire,” Nagy said.

away. For the second straight week White Junior Seau Jerseys , the Steelers held a second-half lead and lost. This time, Pittsburgh blew its biggest lead ever at home, as Michael Badgley kicked a 29-yard field goal on the final play, lifting the Los Angeles Chargers to a 33-30 victory over the Steelers on Sunday night.“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish, and they finished the game,” Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward said. The Steelers (7-4-1) were on a six-game winning streak before losing last week at Denver and again on Sunday. It’s their first two-game losing streak of the season. The Steelers, who held a 23-7 lead to start the second half, blew a 16-point lead at home for the first time in franchise history. The Steelers were previously 174-0-1 all-time when ahead by 16 points at home. It was the first time the Steelers blew a 16-point lead overall since Nov. 8, 1981, against Seattle.“The game was 23-7 and as a defense, we can’t surrender points,” Heyward said. “We just gotta play better. I don’t care who it is Junior Seau Jerseys 2019 , it’s unacceptable.”Ben Roethlisberger threw for 281 yards and two scores for the Steelers, who are clinging to the AFC North lead over surging Baltimore. Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for a season-high 154 yards and a touchdown. James Conner added 60 yards rushing and two touchdowns before leaving in the fourth quarter with a lower leg contusion.“It’s a bad loss,” Roethlisberger said. “You just can’t play bad football against a good football team.”Things looked good in the first half when Pittsburgh scored on four of six possessions. Conner scored on a pair of 1-yard runs, giving the Steelers an early 13-0 lead following a missed extra point. The Steelers, who won four of the previous five meetings against Los Angeles, continued to surge, and pushed the lead to 16-6.Pittsburgh, which came into the game 18-3 in December since 2013 – the best mark in the NFL over that span – seemed poised for another masterful December performance with an end-of-half score, nearly driving the length of the field in just 1:18. Roethlisberger capped the six-play, 91-yard series by threading a 28-yard touchdown pass between three defenders to Brown for the score. But, Philip Rivers and Los Angeles recovered in the second half.Rivers completed 26 of 36 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Keenan Allen caught 14 passes for 148 yards and a score, while Justin Jackson ran for 63 yards and a touchdown in place of injured starter Melvin Gordon. Pittsburgh limited Los Angeles to just two yards rushing in the first half, tying the third-fewest allowed by the Steelers since Heinz Field opened in 2001.“We just didn’t tackle better in the second half White Lance Alworth Jerseys ,” Heyward said. “We didn’t stop the run as much. We have to be better as a defense.”Los Angeles opened the second half with 23 unanswered points, turning a 23-7 halftime deficit into a 30-23 lead.Allen caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rivers late in the third quarter on a play in which Pittsburgh defensive backs Sean Davis and Joe Haden collided going for the ball, which popped up in the air and landed squarely in Allen’s hands.Desmond King added a 73-yard punt return, and Allen pulled in the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 23. Jackson’s 18-yard burst up the middle gave the Chargers a 30-23 lead.Rookie Jaylen Samuels replaced Conner and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass for Pittsburgh with 4:10 to play to tie the game at 30. That left Rivers ample time to one-up Roethlisberger, a fellow member of the vaunted 2004 draft class that includes New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.Rivers calmly led the Chargers 64 yards in 11 plays, including a 12-yard pass to Allen on third-and-4 at the Pittsburgh 34 that pushed Los Angeles close enough to bring on Badgley for the win.Badgley initially missed a 39-yard kick, but Pittsburgh was called for offsides.“It looked like all of us jumped off at the same time,” Haden said. “Sometimes when you get a good jump, it looks like you jumped offsides. I would have to look at it again, but I didn’t feel like we were offsides.”Badgley’s ensuing 34-yard attempt was blocked, but the Steelers were flagged again for jumping across the line of scrimmage before the snap. Badgley drilled his third attempt at the game-winner, as the Chargers completed the biggest opposing comeback in Heinz Field history with just their fourth win in Pittsburgh in 19 tries.“You can’t say anything about our offense, our offense put up 30 points Lance Alworth Jerseys 2019 ,” Heyward said. “We didn’t get the job done as a defense.”LaDainian Tomlinson: Chargers GOAT and King of Records Continuing with our theme of “records” this week, we can’t go without talking about LaDainian Tomlinson. LT is one of the best, if not THE best Charger ever. And his stats back that up completely. Tomlinson retired after the 2011 season and he still owns 58 NFL records (18 of which he is tied with at least 1 other player for 1st). There are probably more for things that aren’t officially tracked feats (like the fact that he is still the only player in NFL history to have 100 receptions and 1000+ rushing yards in the same season), but to still own 58 League records 7 years after your retirement is amazing. So what are these records? Here’s the whole list:Most single season touchdowns (31 in 2006; previously 28 in 2005 by Shaun Alexander)Most single season rushing touchdowns (28 in 2006; previously 27 in 2003 by Priest Holmes, 2005 by Shaun Alexander.)Most points scored in a single season (186 in 2006, previously 176 in 1960 by Paul Hornung.)Most points scored in a single calendar month (78 in Nov 2006, previously 77 in Oct 1961 by Paul Hornung.)Most touchdowns scored in a five-game stretch (15 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in a six-game stretch (19 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in first 10 games of season (22 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in first 12 games of season (26 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in a single calendar month (13 in Nov 2006, previously 12 in Oct 1958 by Jim Brown.)Most games with 2+ rushing touchdowns (38).Most games with 3+ rushing touchdowns (12; prev. 10 by Jim Brown)Most games with 200+ yards from scrimmage in a season (5 in 2003)Most games with 18 or more points in a season (6 in 2006)Most games with 16 or more points in a season (6 in 2006; with Paul Hornung in 1960)Most games with 14 or more points in a season (6 in 2006; with Don Hutson in 1942 and Paul Hornung in 1960)Most games with 12 or more points in a season (10 in 2006; with Priest Holmes in 2003)Most games with 10 or more points in a season (10 in 2006; tied with several players)Most games with 2 or more touchdowns in season (10) in 2006 – tied with Priest Holmes, 2003Most games with 3 or more touchdowns in season (6) in 2006Most games with 3 or more rushing touchdowns in a season (5 in 2006)Most games with 4 touchdowns in a season (3) in 2006Most consecutive games with a rushing touchdown (14)Most consecutive games with 2+ rushing touchdowns (8) in 2006Most consecutive games with 3+ rushing touchdowns (3) in 2006Most consecutive games with a touchdown (18) 2004–2005 – tied with Lenny Moore, 1963–1965Most consecutive games with multiple touchdowns (8) in 2006Most consecutive games with 3+ touchdowns (4) in 2006Most consecutive games with 4+ touchdowns: (2) in 2006 – tied with Marshall Faulk in 2000 and Jim Taylor in 1962Most consecutive seasons with 1,200+ or more yards rushing (7 from 2001–2007 with Eric Dickerson)Most consecutive seasons with 1,300+ or more yards rushing (6 from 2002–2007)Most consecutive seasons with 1,500+ yards from scrimmage (8 from 2001–2008)Most consecutive seasons with 5+ rushing touchdowns (10 from 2001–2010 White LaDainian Tomlinson Jerseys , with Marshall Faulk)Most consecutive seasons with 6+ rushing touchdowns (10 from 2001–2010, with Marshall Faulk)Most consecutive seasons with 7+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009; with Jim Brown)Most consecutive seasons with 8+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 9+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 10+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 11+ rushing touchdowns (8 from 2002–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 12+ rushing touchdowns (6 from 2002–2007)Most consecutive seasons with 13+ rushing touchdowns (6 from 2002–2007)Most consecutive seasons with 14+ touchdowns (6) 2002–2007Most consecutive seasons with 15+ touchdowns (6) 2002–2007Most consecutive seasons with 16+ touchdowns (5) 2003–2007 – tied with Shaun Alexander 2001–2005Most seasons with 10+ rushing touchdowns (9) 2001–2009Most seasons with 11+ rushing touchdowns (8) 2002–2009 – tied with Emmitt Smith 1990–1996, 1998–1999.Most seasons with 12+ rushing touchdowns (7) 2002–2007, 2009Most seasons with 13+ rushing touchdowns (6) 2002–2007Most seasons with 14+ rushing touchdowns (5) 2002, 2004–2007 – tied with Shaun Alexander, 2001–2005Most seasons with 15+ rushing touchdowns (4) 2004–2007Most seasons with 17+ rushing touchdowns (3) 2004–2006 – tied with Emmitt Smith 1992, 1994–1995Most seasons with 17+ touchdowns (5) 2003–2007Most seasons with 18+ touchdowns (4) 2004–2007Most seasons with 20+ touchdowns (2) 2005–2006 – tied with 4 other playersFastest player to gain 9,000 yards from scrimmage (72 GP) – tied with Edgerrin JamesFastest player to gain 12,000 yards from scrimmage (95 GP) – tied with Edgerrin JamesFastest player to gain 13,000 yards from scrimmage (104 GP)Fastest player to gain 14,000 yards from scrimmage (111 GP)Fastest player to gain 15,000 yards from scrimmage (121 GP)Not surprisingly, LT has a TON of records around touchdowns and scoring. Those of us around for LT’s reign may not have realized at the time just how lucky we were to have him playing for our favorite team. Opposing teams literally couldn’t keep him out of the endzone LaDainian Tomlinson Jerseys 2019 , and not just during his record breaking MVP season. He had 6 straight seasons of 15+ rushing TDs. To put that in perspective, since he has retired (2012 season until now), only 4 RBs have even scored 15 rushing TDs in a season, and none of them have done it more than once, let alone consecutively. His pace gaining yards from scrimmage is also mind blowing. Just look at those last few lines. It only took him 23 games to gain the 3000 yards from 9k to 12k career yards. Then only 9 more games for the next thousand, then only 7 more games for the next thousand. Just a crazy, crazy pace. With the current state of the NFL, specifically NFL offenses, I think most of these records will stand the test of time. * *Graphic language above* With so many to choose from, what is your favorite LT record?

Before we get to this weeks content, lets take a quick look back to last week:Pick of the Week: Patrick Mahomes as a sleeper for the second straight week. (49.84 standard points, 1st among QBs)For the second week in a row the young quarterback stole the show. Something tells me he won’t ever be a sleeper candidate for much longer, however.Fail of the Week: George Kittle (2.2 standard points, t-34th among WRs)Kittle took my kind words and stamp of approval last week and turned them into 22 yards on 2 catches. Yikes.Year to Date Accuracy:Week 2 Accuracy: 4 of 12 correct (33.3%)Season Accuracy: 9 of 24 correct (37.5%) Not my best work in week 2 Clayton Thorson Jersey 2019 , but hey, that’s what week 3 is for right?Stud: A highly favored fantasy player who will finish the week in the top 6 at his position.QB Tom Brady, NEThrough 2 games, Brady has averaged about 21.5 points against two pretty tough defenses. This week he travels to Detroit where the hopeless Lions will struggle to contain him.RB Todd Gurley, LARGurley has a tough match up against the Chargers who have held running backs to less than 4 yards per carry, but given the volume of carries he has been getting, Gurley is a safe bet to get 20 or more points in most formats.TE Zach Ertz, PHIErtz is getting not only his buddy Carson Wentz back, but has a tasty match up against the Colts at home. After a rough start to the year, Ertz is ready to explode and finish as one of the top Tight Ends this week.Dud: A highly started player who will finish the week as a non-starter.QB Russell Wilson, SEAThe Seahawks look like a shell of their Super Bowl Champion selves and this includes Russell Wilson. In week 3, Wilson, who was dealing with a problematic Hamstring earlier in the week, will take on the Dallas Cowboys, who have been hogging the ball on offense and shutting down opposing passing games on defense. Avoid Russ this week if you can.WR Larry Fitzgerald, ARZNot only is Fitzgerald still listed as questionable, but he has had one of the worst starts to a season he’s ever seen. With just 10 catches for 104 yards and zero touchdowns through two games, look elsewhere for a wide receiver. RB Jay Ajayi, PHIAjayi will have big games this season, but given the unpredictability of Doug Pederson’s offense, I’m hesitant to rely on him. He’d make a fine FLEX play but if you’re banking on him to outscore your opponent Cheap Clayton Thorson Jersey , you could be in over your head.Sleeper:A player who is not started often but will finish the week as a starter.QB Patrick Mahomes, KCAs of this writing, Mahomes is started in only 73% of yahoo leagues. If he is on your team, you better start him over just about any other quarterback at this point until he cools off.TE George Kittle, SFAfter being one of my studs of the week for week 2 and playing like garbage, many fantasy managers, understandably, have benched Kittle. I advice you refrain from overreacting here and keep him on your starting line up. Kittle will also be an excellent DFS option this week given the lack of trust in him right now.D/ST Baltimore RavensAfter decimating Buffalo in week 1, the Ravens traveled to Cincinnati where they allowed the Bengals to put up 34 points. This week should be somewhere in middle of those two outcomes.Bust:A highly ranked player who will finish the week as a non starter.QB Jimmy Garoppolo, SFJimmy G-Sus is traveling to KC where he’ll face Patrick Mahomes and the smokin’ hot Chiefs.Garoppolo has yet to top 15 points in a single game through two weeks, and yet he is still rated within the top 6 on most sites. While the Chiefs have allowed a lot of passing yards so far, they won’t be that porous forever. I’d be hesitant to follow the pack regarding Jimmy G if I were you.RB David Johnson, ARZThe Cardinals are kind of like, I’m going to say it, the 2018 Browns. I don’t want anything to do with any of them, including super star running back David Johnson. I especially don’t want anything to do with them when Khalil Mack is in the conversation.K Jake Elliott, PHIElliott has been a let down through two weeks. I have personally demoted him from “I trust you like David Akers” status to a temporary wait-and-see approach. Hopefully the addition of Jordan Matthews Carson Wentz will bring Elliott back to live. Maybe Carson needs to put a game check on it, or something. As always, I cannot cover every situation in one article so please get at me on twitter (@LeeSifford) or in the comments below with your specific roster questions and I’d be glad to offer my thoughts on your situation.

Donte Moncrief Jersey , a move most expected after a disappointing 2018 NFL season. Releasing Bortles saves the Jaguars $4.5 million in salary cap space..."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Jaguars Free Agency 2016Jaguars Film RoomNFL DraftJaguars Injury NewsLatest NewsJaguars release Blake BortlesNew,142commentsEDTShareTweetShareShareJaguars release Blake BortlesDouglas DeFelice-USA TODAY SportsThe Jacksonville Jaguars have released quarterback Blake Bortles, a move most expected after a disappointing 2018 NFL season. Releasing Bortles saves the Jaguars $4.5 million in salary cap space with a dead money hit of $16.5 million. While it has not been announced how the cut is being applied just yet, the team can designate Bortles a post-June 1 cut, splitting his dead money between 2019 and 2020, moving the total cap savings to $9.5 million. As mentioned, the move was expected by quite a few this offseason, despite the fact that Bortles was fresh off a new deal last offseason. Following a 2017 NFL season that had the Jaguars on the door step of the Super Bowl, the team gave Bortles a new deal in the hopes that the light had finally come on. Despite a quick start to the 2018 season, the wheels seemed to come off against the Kansas City Chiefs and never got right thanks to massive injury hits on the offensive side of the ball. Bortles was benched mid-season in favor of Cody Kessler, who didn’t fair any better http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.j.-bouye-jersey , and it became clear the Jaguars were going to be moving on.Bortles was given one last start in the final game of the season and predictably it ended in disaster. He finished the 2018 season with 13 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions, more in line with what his numbers had been through his career outside of 2015. The Jacksonville Jaguars are sticking with Blake Bortles as their starting quarterback.Coach Doug Marrone made the announcement Monday, one day after benching Bortles early in the third quarter of a 20-7 loss to Houston.“I spoke to both quarterbacks this afternoon and told them Blake will be our team’s starting quarterback,” Marrone said in a statement. “I believe this gives us the best opportunity to win.”More Jacksonville Jaguars newsJaguars expect DE Yannick Ngakoue’s holdout to be short-livedJaguars rookie safety Zedrick Woods submits retirement paperworkJalen Ramsey says Jaguars don’t plan to give him contract extension this seasonJaguars sign former UCF running back Taj McGowan for added depthJaguars QB Nick Foles to miss OTAs for undisclosed ‘personal reason’Bortles fumbled on Jacksonville’s third play in each half, leading to 10 points for the Texans and prompting Marrone to switch to Cody Kessler. Marrone said after the game he would open up the QB job for the second time in as many years. He also benched Bortles in the 2017 preseason, only to give him back the job nine days later.Marrone took less than 24 hours to go back to Bortles this time, saying he will start Sunday’s game against Philadelphia (3-4) in London. The Jaguars (3-4) have lost three in a row and four of five, derailing a season that started with Super Bowl aspirations.Jacksonville seemingly reached a low point Sunday when the locker room erupted in fiery emotion following a third consecutive lopsided loss in which the offense failed to score in the first half. Calais Campbell was seen holding back fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue when the locker room briefly opened to the media. It was the final scene of frustration that also included screaming, shouting and finger pointing.Campbell, an 11-year veteran and one of six team captains, called a players-only meetings Monday to “talk about some issues.”“Will it help?” defensive tackle Malik Jackson said. “Hopefully so. Hopefully guys will speak up and not be silent Womens Leonard Fournette Jersey , hopefully talk about some issues that they feel are bothering them.”The Jaguars have been mostly inept on both sides of the ball during the losing streak, trailing 23-0 at Kansas City, 24-0 at Dallas and 20-0 at home against the Texans. The injury-riddled offense can’t do what it’s built to do — run the football — and has a lackluster receiving corps dropping balls at inopportune times. The high-profile defense can’t stop the run and has allowed too many big plays.“People are strained,” Jackson said. “This is a business about producing, about winning, and we’re not producing or winning right now. This locker room is not going to tear apart for a few losses. Hell, we went 3-13 our first year here.”The expectations were much higher after advancing to the AFC title game in January, which is why the locker room started to crack and crumble.“You can’t have little groups or little indecision of what is the right way or the proper way. You have to get everyone in the same boat,” Marrone said, pointing out the team is minus-12 in turnover differential. “We have done this to ourselves, and the only people going to be able to dig us out of it is ourselves. But we all have to have the same vision on how to do it.“My thing to the team is we can go in all of these different directions Barry Church Jersey , but if these two things do not change, those two things do not change, those directions aren’t going to matter.”Bortles was the scapegoat Sunday, with Marrone making the move to “put everyone on notice.”Bortles completed 6 of 12 passes for 61 yards, fumbling twice on third-down scrambles.Kessler came off the bench and had a short touchdown pass to T.J. Yeldon, but he was sacked four times in five drives, plus threw an interception and fumbled. It’s really not that surprising Marrone stuck with Bortles. The team signed him to a three-year, $54 million contract in February with the belief he was good enough to lead the defensive-minded team back to the playoffs.Bortles played turnover-free football in the postseason, gaining top executive Tom Coughlin’s confidence and landing the new contract. He’s played with far less efficiency lately, managing two TD passes and eight turnovers in the three straight losses.NOTES: The Jaguars released veteran running back Jamaal Charles three days after acquiring Carlos Hyde from Cleveland. Hyde is expected to play a significant role against the Eagles. … Marrone said injured RB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) will travel to London.

The team was in pads as they held their second of two live tackling sessions this summer. Read on to see what I observed! Also, listen to the latest BGN Radio practice recap podcast by using the embed below or [CLICKING HERE]:PRACTICE NOTES• CARSON WENTZ UPDATE: Wentz’s biggest highlight was a deep touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson. Wentz got the ball out quick with a blitzing Sidney Jones bearing down on him and split the safety (Malcolm Jenkins) and cornerback (Avonte Maddox) to hit Jackson in stride for the explosive play. You love to see it. During 1-on-1, Wentz got picked by Malcolm Jenkins on a fade throw meant for Nelson Agholor. The ball was a little underthrown but Jenkins also played it pretty well. Jenkins was one of the rare defenders who didn’t get totally shook by Agholor in the red zone, by the way. Nelly put a number of defenders on skates with stutter steps and the like. Wentz had touchdown throws to JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Alshon Jeffery in 1-on-1 where the receivers were tightly contested. Wentz isn’t afraid of throwing into tight windows Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys 2019 , which is a good fit for his strong receivers who can fight off defenders. More good from Wentz: looking off the defense and then hitting Zach Ertz for a touchdown along the back of the end zone. He also threaded a pass over the middle to Marken Michel in 7-on-7. Overall, Wentz’s day wasn’t super flashy but he was mostly good. • EAGLES INJURY UPDATE: The big news is that Kamu Grugier-Hill went down with an injury towards the end of practice. It happened on a play where he tackled Jordan Howard. He was on the ground getting his leg looked at before he gingerly walked off the field. Then he was carted back to the trainer’s tent before ultimately walking into the team’s facility. Hopefully Kamu isn’t seriously hurt. He’s had a great training camp and he figures one of the the Eagles’ top two linebackers in terms of snaps played. The Eagles actually issued an injury report for their other banged up guys. Jalen Mills (foot) is obviously still on active/PUP. Cre’Von LeBlanc (foot) is “week-to-week” and so is Paul Worrilow (knee), which is really not good for Worrilow’s roster chances. Mack Hollins (hip) is “day-to-day” and so is Richard Rodgers, who missed practice for the first time today. Rodgers’ injury explains why the Eagles signed tight end Alex Ellis on Friday to eat some reps. Miles Sanders’ injury scare from Thursday did not linger into today. He was full go.Rodney McLeod participated in some 11-on-11 for the first time this offseason. Good sign. He’s still not 100% cleared, though, because he didn’t participate in the team’s live tackling drills; just the thud session. Keep in mind there are 36 days until the Eagles’ Week 1 home opener on Sunday, September 8. • JERSEY NUMBER UPDATES: New Eagles safety Johnathan Cyprien is wearing No. 41. Alex Ellis is wearing No. 48 Womens Shareef Miller Jersey , in case you really wanted to know.• FIGHT! First one of camp. Undrafted rookie free agent tackle Casey Tucker and rookie fourth-round pick Shareef Miller got into it during offensive line versus defensive line 1-on-1. This caused a big scrum between those two units that ultimately didn’t last too long. Not exactly a main card.• You might think the 5-9 Avonte Maddox wouldn’t look so good in red zone drills but he sure did today. Maddox broke up a Wentz fade meant for DeSean. He also had such sticky coverage on Braxton Miller that Clayton Thorson threw the ball away. Eagles defensive backs coach Cory Undlin liked that rep from Maddox.• Another practice in which 6-6 receiver Carlton Agudosi stood out. You know, a lot of times these tall receivers get brought into camps, they’re not actually any good. They’re often stiff and can’t create separation. That’s not exactly the case with Agudosi, who showed off some good route-running to get open in 1-on-1 against a veteran defender like Orlando Scandrick. Agudosi later beat Jeremiah McKinnon on fade touchdown pass from Sudfeld. Sudfeld found Agudosi again on a deep play in 7-on-7. Agudosi is making his case for a practice squad spot at the very least. • Nate Sudfeld continues to trend in a positive direction. He’s looked more consistent recently. Sudfeld capped off an 11-on-11 series with a money red zone touchdown throw to Dallas Goedert. That No. 88 guy isn’t an easy cover. • Hassan Ridgeway appears to be ahead of Treyvon Hester on the Eagles’ depth chart. Ridgeway was taking some first team goal line defensive tackle snaps next to Malik Jackson today with Fletcher Cox not doing team drills and Timmy Jernigan getting a breather (?). • Josh Adams had three notable runs in 11-on-11 where he broke open field tackles to keep on running. I don’t think Adams makes the 53 but he could be a nice depth piece to stash away on the practice squad. • Boston Scott broke off a long run against the third team defense. The aforementioned Shareef Miller deserves some credit for hustling 30+ yards down the field to put a big pop on Scott to end the play. • Kamu had a nice leaping pass deflection on a quick Wentz throw on a goal line play. Kamu’s had several of those in camp so far. Really hope he’s OK.• Emptying the offensive line versus defensive line notebook (besides the fight): Andre Dillard was driven back by Brandon Graham but the rookie didn’t allow Graham to get by him. Jordan Mailata, who false started during a team drill, got beaten by Daeshon Hall. Sua Opeta handled Hester with ease before Hester came back stronger on the next rep and caused the rookie blocker to lose his balance. • Trickeration during group install: Wentz pitches to Darren Sproles on a halfback toss ... but no, it’s a fake! Sproles throws to Joshua Perkins for a touchdown. I’d love to see Sproles throw a touchdown pass in a real game. Maybe that’ll be the new Philly Special in Super Bowl LIV. • Jake Elliott seemingly drilled all his field goal attempts Shareef Miller Jersey Color Rush , including a 54-yarder to end practice. • Vinny Curry: Secret weapon?Joe Ostman and Brandon Graham each took a punt return rep as well. No drops!• During his post-practice presser, Doug Pederson named DeAndre Thompkins and Kevin Wilkins as the best rookie singers on the team. (As a hazing ritual, Eagles rookies have to sing in front of vets during full team meetings.) Doug gave them both an “8 out of 10.” • BGN reader shoutout section: Great seeing Doug M. and Rich B. at practice today! UP NEXTThe Eagles will hold their one and only open practice at Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow evening starting at 7:00 PM ET. Stay tuned to BGN for more coverage, as always.

in Week 5 The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the loser column after a poor performance vs. their divisional rival Dermontti Dawson Jersey , the Baltimore Ravens, at Heinz Field in prime time in Week 4. With the Atlanta Falcons coming into Heinz Field for a Week-5 matchup, the Steelers will need to improve on their 1-2-1 record. Something I did last season and I’m going to start again is the Black-and-Gold Links article. This is an article where I take stories from quality news sources across the Internet, and add them here for your viewing pleasure. I won’t be posting the entire articles, but I’ll link each story and author so that you can read the full article. Today we update some key injuries, most notably cornerback Mike Hilton Let’s get to the news:Free of pain, Steelers’ Hilton hoping to return against FalconsBy: Joe Rutter, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewSlot cornerback Mike Hilton still has some stiffness in his elbow, plus lingering fluid that is preventing him from fully extending it, but he is optimistic about returning Sunday afternoon when the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Atlanta Falcons.Hilton did not practice Wednesday and Friday last week and was limited to individual drills Thursday.“The pain is pretty much out of the way,” Hilton said Monday. “If I get the full range of motion, I’ll be ready to go.”Cameron Sutton replaced Hilton in the slot against the Ravens. The Steelers were without two regulars in Hilton and safety Morgan Burnett (groin). Safety Nat Berhe, who played in certain subpackages, left the game with a pectoral injury and was sporting a sling on his left arm Monday. Linebacker L.J. Fort was used in subpackages for the first time this season, logging 11 defensive snaps.“It’s frustrating, but it’s part of the game,” Hilton said. “We know it’s the next-man-up mentality. Some guys have to step up and be in positions now with a couple guys down. We have guys that can do it, we just have to put it all together.”Tim Benz: An airing of grievances after Steelers’ lackluster effort vs. RavensBy: Tim Benz, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewOur inaugural ”Airing Of Grievances” column after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Chiefs two weeks ago was so wildly popular, I think we are going to have to make this a tradition after any defeat the Steelers suffer.Heck, maybe some wins, too.If there are any moving forward. With the way this season is going Jack Ham Jersey , there may be far more of the former than the latter. There are plenty of grievances to air in the wake of Baltimore’s 26-14 victory Sunday night at Heinz Field.Third-down offenseThis is where the game was lost for the Steelers. Their third-down offense was an abomination. The unit was 2 of 12 on third-down attempts. Most of that was due to horrid execution. There were misfired passes, a lack of open receivers and some blocks missed here and there.Popcorn, as coach Mike Tomlin will probably say Tuesday. Some of the play calls were atrocious, too.鈥?On the second possession of the game, on third-and-18, there was a short pass underneath to James Conner. It merely seemed to be an effort to get a few yards back before a punt. Already trailing 14-0, the Steelers appeared to concede that drive in a game where every possession was going to be necessary to come back.鈥?On third-and-3 from the Baltimore 20 after an Alex Collins fumble, Ben Roethlisberger lofted up a deep shot down the sideline to Antonio Brown right off the snap. Why try that there? Even if Brown had single coverage, don’t you want Roethlisberger surveying the field with multiple options in the red zone on a possession-down like that instead of tossing up a 50-50 ball to Brown against a taller defender in Marlon Humphrey?鈥?On the first drive after halftime, the Steelers went three-and-out following a short pass to the left of the formation to Ryan Switzer. It lost 5 yards, and the team had to punt.Third-down defenseMeanwhile, the Steelers defense “held” the Ravens to 8 of 17 on third downs. That looks decent on paper. But keep in mind, that includes two failed conversions where Baltimore was essentially winding down the clock at the end of each half. Plus, there was a lame “What the heck? If it’s there, it’s there” throw through the goal post from Joe Flacco on third-and-7 before Justin Tucker’s game-sealing field goal to make it 26-14.”They converted third downs. They possessed the ball. We didn’t get off the field,” defensive end Cameron Heyward said. “That’s not a good recipe for success.”It’s unfortunate. It sucks. I’m (ticked) off we didn’t get the job done.”Yeah, that pretty much says it all.Rotten startsThe Steelers have been dreadful when it comes to starting quickly at Heinz Field of late. Check out these numbers in the last three games at Heinz Field — the Jacksonville divisional-round playoff game and the two regular-season losses in 2018.:::More in the link above:::Ryan Switzer increasingly part of the Steelers’ offenseBy: Chris Adamski, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewThe Pittsburgh Steelers’ leading pass-catcher Sunday wasn’t All Pro Antonio Brown, nor was it emerging JuJu Smith-Schuster. In fact, it wasn’t any wide receiver or tight end – or even a starter. It was Ryan Switzer.Acquired the final week of the preseason from Oakland in a swap of late-round draft picks, Switzer caught all seven of the balls Ben Roethlisberger threw his way in the 26-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Including a second-half rush, Switzer had eight touches among the 21 offensive snaps he played.Counting special teams (Switzer is the Steelers’ punt and kick returner) no skill player had more touches for the Steelers than Switzer. Perhaps even more notable than Switzer’s overall usage is that the Steelers often lined him up in the backfield in lieu of starting running back James Conner.“I am just trying to continue to make a name for myself Jack Lambert Jersey ,” Switzer said, “continue to learn my role in this offense and continue to learn Ben’s trust and coaching staff’s trust.”For a team that rarely took Le’Veon Bell off the field in recent years past, Conner sat out 13 of the Steelers’ 73 offensive snaps. Neither other running back on the team (Stevan Ridley and Jaylen Samuels) played on offense Sunday.Coach Mike Tomlin said the decision to use Switzer instead of Conner was “just personnel packages that we worked within.“He’s a valuable component of our offense and has been a nice contributor.”Le’Veon Bell’s absence finally catching up to SteelersBy: Jeremy Fowler, ESPNNo matter how much the Pittsburgh Steelers have tried to separate themselves from Le’Veon Bell, his absence was deeply felt Sunday night. The Steelers needed an equalizer to settle down the offense when things went awry in the second half of their 26-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. What they got was a near 5-1 ratio of pass to run in their most physical rivalry. The Steelers always knew they would miss Bell, who’s still sitting out with an unsigned franchise tag as the team explores trading him. Otherwise, teammates wouldn’t have responded so fiercely to his absence in Week 1. They knew he changed the dynamic. As a counter, players and coaches sold a bold new attack behind James Conner, who runs hard and is a better pass-catcher than advertised.Still, the transition from All-Pro to first-year starter manifested in Conner’s 19 yards on nine carries Sunday. The Steelers were outmatched regardless of the running back in a Week 2 loss to Kansas City, but this week felt different as Baltimore ran 30 times for 96 yards.Several Steelers pointed to the Ravens’ quick 14-0 lead as a reason to abandon the run.”The run game, as long as we’re efficient, we’re getting yards here or there,” guard Ramon Foster said. “You get behind the chains a little bit and you have to throw it. That’s not an issue to be frantic about. We’re a team that always finds a way.”Foster is saying the right things, but getting “yards here or there” doesn’t sound like the tone-setting offense the Steelers’ line wants to be. Le'Veon Bell's stall inside the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room has been untouched for months. The Pittsburgh Penguins jersey. The black-and-yellow Jordans. Sweatpants. Cleats. His shoulder pads. Everything remains the same as it was when Bell walked out of the team's facility in January to begin his standoff with the club. The only thing that's been disturbed is the chair. Some days a teammate's workout clothes dangle from the back of it. On others — like Monday — a Steeler uses the seat as a spot to throw his lunch plate. When Bell returns to reclaim his spot is uncertain. The first day of the team's bye week came and went without Bell coming in to sign his one-year franchise tender. What's becoming increasingly clear, however, is that the Steelers are just fine moving on with Bell, or without him.The anger over Bell's decision to not report in time for the regular season opener has subsided. In its place is something akin to exasperation and resolve. One of coach Mike Tomlin's favorite metaphors is to describe each season as a train that's on the move.Pittsburgh (3-2-1) appears to be picking up steam. Bell is standing still. If he'll ever be able to catch up in time to have any impact on Pittsburgh's season is anyone's guess. The last six weeks have been so eventful beyond Bell's absence — from a sluggish start by the defense to wide receiver Antonio Brown's weekly histrionics — the players aren't even getting hit up for inside information on Bell's plans when they get home from work."They know our sole focus is on us winning football games," right tackle Marcus Gilbert said. "They're not bothering me with that. It's strictly about football. Ask me about anything else, the guys on the team currently. But until he shows up, then we can't talk Le'Veon."And at the moment, there's no reason to. Not with the way James Conner is running the ball. The second-year back rolled up 111 yards rushing and two touchdowns in Pittsburgh's 28-21 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday Mike Webster Jersey , his third game of at least 100 yards and two scores in the first six weeks. Only four other players in NFL history have done that."James just wants to put his hand in the pile and be one of the reasons why we win," Tomlin said. "He wants to prove that (he belongs)."There appears to be very little proving left to do.Conner, a former Pitt star, set an Athletic Coast Conference record for touchdowns during his college career but has become perhaps better known for his battle with cancer in 2015 and 2016. On the same day he helped the Steelers to their 18th win in 21 trips to Paul Brown Stadium, he shared a pregame moment with a young fan waging his own war with the disease.Conner is aware of the platform he's been given but is also doing his best to keep the focus on his job. He has a high level of respect for Bell — who tweeted out his congratulations after one of Bell's punishing runs against the Bengals — and wants to continue to be a beacon of hope for cancer patients. At the same time, he also just wants to tuck the ball under his right arm and run as hard as he can for as long as he can. Asked to describe why he's becoming more successful as the weeks pass, Conner is quick to point to an offensive line that hasn't allowed a sack or made him work too hard behind the line of scrimmage during Pittsburgh's modest two-game winning streak."The goons up front, it always starts up front with the O-line," Conner said. "As they go, we go."The question becomes which way the Steelers go when Bell does decide to pull on his familiar No. 26. He considers himself one of the best all-around backs in the league and has the accolades — two-time All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler — to prove it. Yet he also hasn't been hit in nine months and has kept a decidedly low profile, at least in terms of his physical activity, during his sabbatical."However it all shapes up, we know he's a player that can't be replaced, he's a special player," Gilbert said. "But any guy that we put in there will be a different type of player. Him and James are different type of running backs and they'll complement each other really well."Then Gilbert paused ever so slightly and drilled down beyond platitudes to reality."Like I said, I don't really want to talk Le'Veon to you until he shows up," Gilbert said. "Be interested to see what kind of shape he's in and how he can help better this team because it's a different outfit than last year."

WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTShareTweetShareShareLooks Like Someone Has a Sixpack of the MondaysReinhold Matay-USA TODAY SportsBecause we now have a “legal tampering period Morgan Moses Jersey ,” there are those out there who might think that there was a time when NFL teams refrained from illegal tampering. These people might actually believe that Albert Haynesworth and the Redskins worked out a $100 million deal inthe two minutes between when free agency opened and when the deal was announced. (To be fair...that is probably giving Dan Snyder too much credit in terms of deliberation.) No, NFL teams have perfected the art of tampering over the years, leading the league to throw up its hands and legalize it. Just so everyone is on the same page, legal tempering begins today, which opens up a two-day negotiating period for players hitting unrestricted free agency and prospective teams. While no deals can technically be agreed to during the next two days, the frameworks for deals can be hammered out which will lead to a huge news dump at 4 PM when a litany of contracts will be announced. It also provides for an E! Entertainment type of window when rumors fly and agents work overtime to try and make it seem like their clients are getting multiple offers from teams. The Washington Redskins aren’t flush with salary cap space, so the juice might not be especially juicy for us, but the team will make some room and get involved in the fun, because...well, because it’s Dan and Bruce. We did rumors here last week, so I’m not going to do another rumor post. We had an actual deal done since the last Sixpack, so let’s talk about the addition of Case Keenum. First and foremost on this trade...slow down and take a deep breath. The main thing I have been stressing ever since Alex Smith broke his leg is that the Redskins need cheap labor at the quarterback spot. This is because we still owe the one-legged man $51 million, and we still have plenty of needs elsewhere before we dedicate an additional $15-$20 million on another signal caller. My main goal is to somehow bridge the gap between now and when Alex Smith comes off the books, which is likely to be after NEXT season (2020, not this upcoming 2019 season). To restate my Alex Smith opinion—he ain’t EVER playing again, nor should he. Even after the 2020 season, he will count as $10 million in dead cap, but by then I hope the team will have determined a path forward at the position that is looking out more than one or two seasons. Today, we need cheap and available, as Steve Spurrier would say. (Has Spurrier been convicted yet of the crimes he committed against Patrick Ramsey? His stubborn refusal to employ ANY pass protection was at best gross negligence and at worst it was straight-up criminal misconduct.) If the Redskins were simply a quarterback away from being a contender, I could get behind trying to bring in a guy that would cost significantly more than Keenum. That is not where we are, so to me, Keenum makes a ton of sense. Stay with me...(but obviously feel free to disagree below). The best way to get cheap labor at the quarterback position is to draft a guy, and when you hit on the right guy playing on a rookie deal, your team has a decided advantage. The Redskins were cruising toward that eventuality prior to picking up Case Keenum, but now the team can be a bit more selective about which player it drafts in the first (or second) round. Of course, you need to be able to pick a guy you love, and at #15, the Redskins were more likely to be in the “love the one you’re with” boat. Drafting the wrong guy simply because he was the only available player when it was our turn to select would only compound our problem. Similarly, paying market rate for a free agent veteran could also hamper the Redskins ability to bring in the talent needed at other spots. A one-year deal for a veteran quarterback that has playoff experience and a $3.5 million price tag is kind of a dream come true. I am NOT saying Case Keenum is a dream come true—I am saying his contract is, and that is a huge distinction. I think Keenum is a major step up from Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson. As for Colt McCoy, I also love him for his contract, which has him at a $3.375 cap hit next season. Neither Colt nor Case are signed after next season, so the team is not tied to any future money for these journeyman vets, instead only owing money to a guy who is probably never going to suit up again...ever. It says here that the Redskins can be efficient at the quarterback position in 2019 with Colt and Case manning the spot. Nobody expects fireworks or All-Pro performances, but these guys are capable trigger men if, for example, our offensive line stays healthy for once and/or if Derrius Guice is the player we think he is. No, I am not here selling you on the notion that the Redskins are all of a sudden top contenders with Case Keenum under center. Instead, I am trying to sell you on the notion that the Redskins are paying next to nothing for a veteran that should stabilize the quarterback position for one season. The team could still decide to draft a guy somewhere in the middle rounds in the hopes they get someone they like and can develop. The team could still decide to add ANOTHER quarterback at roughly the same price or better to add more depth to avoid getting to a point where Mark Sanchez is the best option and our only chance. The Alex Smith injury was catastrophic on multiple levels. For the man, it was and continues to be a life-changing event. He has lost a ton of body mass and fought off the kind of surgery-related infection that has claimed lives. It would be miraculous if he was able to get back into the kind of shape that allowed for his athletic style of play, but I think it would be foolish for him to ever step on the field again. It seems I am not even close to being alone in this thinking, but the pride and determination that go with being the kind of guy Alex Smith is will make this story drag out well into next year. Case Keenum doesn’t arrive as a savior for Washington, but he does plug a one-year hole at an insanely reasonable rate, giving the team flexibility in both free agency and the draft. I am not sure why people are failing to see this as a win for the team.Moving onto free agency and tampering, I am watching closely to see who the Redskins might be linked to or at least discussing contract terms with over the next couple days. I’ll give you two guys I want to see us connected to, starting with an offensive lineman. As some of you know Colt McCoy Jersey , I pulled hard for the Skins to take A.J. Cann in the 2015 draft. The South Carolina product was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round and has spent the majority of his career starting at right guard. I’ll be honest—he hasn’t set the world on fire, earning average grades from outlets like PFF, but the hope is that this means he could be affordable. The 27-year old would be an upgrade for the Redskins at guard with Shawn Lauvao not likely to return, and he could provide some room for the team to draft and develop a young player. Given we have gone through about 329 different offensive linemen (give or take) over the past few seasons, it strikes me that we should be looking to both sign and draft players who can play in the interior of the o-line. Again, not calling Cann a savior here at all, but he could look good next to Trent Williams on a potentially reasonable contract. I say “potentially” because free agent offensive linemen have been breaking the bank as of late. Let’s just get the Landon Collins point in here. Yes, I want him on our team. I have no idea if the Redskins can actually land him, even despite him saying he would love to play where Sean Taylor played. Multiple teams with plenty of money are going to make a run at him, but I am hard-pressed to find any other teams with as many former Alabama players on it...who knows if that helps get the deal done? We should have the money to land a player like Landon, so we shall see. His signing would also dictate, in part, how the early goings of the draft would go for the Skins. At the very least, I want to see some high-level tampering going on between Washington and Landon’s agent! (I would also like to see the Redskins linked to wide receivers Devin Funchess and Tyrell Williams, but neither would be a higher priority for me than Landon Collins.) 41% of ‘Skins fans surveyed said that QB is the biggest need in the draft"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTShareTweetShareShareSkins fans not keen on Keenum? That appears to be the caseRon Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsWe are considered the voice of the fan here at Hogs Haven and we talk daily about who the Redskins are and how the Redskins are doing.  The Raiders won’t do anything close to the house cleaning they did last year with Gruden coming in and putting his stamp on the roster. But cuts are inevitable. And not just the ones that happen after training just prior to the start of the season. Prime cutsDonald PennThe final year of Penn’s contract was the one he held out for in 2017 camp. It was always meant to offer security for him. He then renegotiated the deal prior to last year’s camp because there was no way he was coming back under the previous deal. At the age of 35 and with injuries ending his last three seasons – the latest after four games – do the Raiders even think he’s worth the $7.2 million he would make next season? Or would they take the $1.75 million cap hit and go for all new blood at both tackle spots? Well Johnny Townsend Jersey , since they seem set on Kolton Miller as the future at left tackle, and that’s where Penn belongs, we may have seen the life-long Raiders fan play his last game in Silver & Black.Seth RobertsLast year, Roberts was said to be on the trade block. But no trade ended up happening and cutting him would have left too much dead money behind. That’s not the case this time around. Roberts is due $4.65 million with no dead money if cut or traded. Roberts is a fine slot receiver who can start in a pinch. He also is a tremendous blocker, which increases his value. But should the Raiders look to add some major talent at receiver – and they should – Roberts’s contract might be a bit steep for a fourth wide receiver.AJ McCarron The moment Nathan Peterman entered the building, McCarron’s place on the team was brought into question. Gruden loves Nathan Peterman. Why, we’ll never really know, but he does. And he was just signed to a reserve/futures deal, making his contract as cheap as they come. McCarron is set to make $3.1 million this season. The Raiders traded a 5th round pick for the journeyman QB last offseason. Maybe they could get one back in another trade?Derek Carrier One of the first free agent signings, he was to be a hybrid tight end/wide receiver in Gruden’s offense. Seven catches for 67 yards and a touchdown isn’t really lighting things up. It certainly isn’t worth $1.7 million – his 2019 salary. Also figure, when they signed Darren Waller off the Ravens’ practice squad prior to week 14, he began contributing pretty much immediately. In his three games with the Raiders the 6-6, 255-pounder surpassed Carrier’s entire season receiving total with 6 catches on 6 targets for 75 yards, adding a 21-yard run on an end around. Meanwhile Carrier didn’t have a catch over those final three games.Keep an eye on...Kelechi OsemeleThis one may seem far-fetched. And I certainly don’t recommend it. When Osemele is good Reggie Nelson Jersey , he’s really good. And the Raiders aren’t exactly hurting for cap relief, with nearly $80 million in expected money available. That being said, Osemele is set to be the third highest paid guard in the league this season at $10.2 million. And he leaves behind no dead money should he be cut or traded. With two years left on his deal with the Raiders at the age of 30, he could command a nice return in a trade if someone is willing to either take on his salary, or give him a new contract. With the Raiders being in a rebuild, would it be at all surprising if they went with a younger, cheaper guard? Perhaps re-signing free agent Jon Feliciano? Perhaps they liked what they saw from in-season waiver claim Denzelle Good? Perhaps using one of their five draft picks in the top three rounds? Food for thought.See: Raiders 2019 free agent re-sign prioritiesFollow @LeviDamienRaiders add cornerback Antwuan Davis, waive/injured DB Tevin Mitchel With just a couple weeks left before the final cutdown day, the Raiders have made a roster move. They claimed cornerback Antwuan Davis off waivers from the Lions and waived injured safety Tevin Mitchel. The Raiders coaching staff got a good look at Davis a couple weeks ago as the Lions scrimmaged with the Raiders for two days before facing them in the preseason opener. The undrafted rookie out of Texas played in both of the Lions’ preseason games before being waived Monday. He had one tackle vs the Raiders in their first preseason game and another in the Lions’ second preseason game against the Giants.Davis played four seasons for the Longhorns, appearing in 23 games, totaling 50 tackles (40 solo) and two interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, a pass defended, and three forced fumbles. He will hope to make a quick impression in the Raiders final two preseason games against the Packers and Seahawks.Follow @LeviDamien

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh is turning to former Massachusetts head coach Mark Whipple to rejuvenate its offense. The Panthers hired Whipple as offensive coordinator on Monday. Whipple replaces Shawn Watson, who was fired earlier this month after the Panthers finished near the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference in nearly every major offensive category. Pitt finished 97th in the country in total offense, 93rd in scoring offense and 120th in passing offense.Whipple stepped down as head coach of the Minutemen last November after UMass went 4-8 in his fifth season. ALAMEDA Gabe Jackson Jersey , Calif. (AP) former starting cornerback David Amerson in the first significant move since Jon Gruden took over as coach last month. The Raiders announced the move to cut ties with Amerson on Monday before his $5.5 million salary for 2018 would have been fully guaranteed later this week.Amerson was a revelation after being claimed off waivers from Washington by the Raiders early in the 2015 season. Amerson started 14 games for Oakland that year and set a franchise record with 26 passes defensed and added a career-high four interceptions. That play earned Amerson a four-year contract extension the following summer worth up to $38 million, but he never played to the level of that deal.Amerson’s play regressed in 2016 and he struggled mightily this past season as part of a secondary that became the first to fail to record any interceptions in the first 10 games of the season in NFL history.Amerson played only seven games before being sidelined by a foot injury for the rest of 2017. He allowed opponents to catch 23 of 31 passes thrown into his coverage area for 391 yards and four touchdowns. The 155.6 passer rating when targeting Amerson was the highest against any defender targeted at least 20 times, according to SportRadar.Amerson was originally a second-round pick by Washington in 2013. He has eight interceptions and 63 passes defensed in 68 career games. The Raiders still must make a decision on cornerback Sean Smith, who is owed $8.5 million for 2018 and might not be back. T.J. Carrie, who was the team’s most effective cornerback this past season, is eligible to be an unrestricted free agent next month.Oakland is counting on 2017 first-round pick Gareon Conley to be the starter next season at one cornerback spot. He played just two games as a rookie because of injuries.— No NFL player has ever generated 2,000 receiving yards in a single season. If Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper has his way Donald Penn Jersey , that will change in the NFL’s 100th season.Cooper tells #PFTPM in an interview that will be posted on Monday that his goal for his first full season in Dallas is 2,000 yards. His best season came in 2016, with 1,153 receiving yards. However, his 725 yards in nine games with Dallas last season after a trade from Oakland translates to 1,288 over the course of a full year. And that’s an impressive feat, given that he had to learn a new offense on the fly. Also impressive is the fact that Cooper had games of 180 yards and 217 yards last season. If he can do that more often Lee Smith Jersey , he can pile up a lot of yardage. He needs to average 125 per game to get to 2,000.Is that unrealistic? Sure. But an unrealistic goal sometimes pushes a player to achieve more than he ever would if the goal was more realistic. So if Cooper wants 2,000 yards but gets something like 1,500, that would still be a great year. For more from Cooper, subscribe to #PFTPM and get the full show as soon as it debuts.

is out for the season after tearing the ACL in his left knee.Guice was injured in Washington’s preseason opener at New England on Thursday night. The team announced the prognosis Friday following an MRI Rob Kelley Jersey , saying Guice should make a full recovery and be ready to play in 2019.Guice was expected to be the Redskins’ starter after they selected him 59th overall in the draft. The LSU product was considered a first-round prospect and went late in the second. In camp, Guice had been splitting first-team carries with Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine. Coach Jay Gruden has said there was competition for the No. 1 job along with third-down back Chris Thompson. Now wide open after Guice’s season-ending injury. The team says tight end Manasseh Garner, a long shot to make the roster, is out for the season with an ACL injury.52<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:PHOTOS: Cowboys fall 24-21 after late comeback by 49ers in preseason openerCary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports | Cary Edmondson Case Keenum was the starting quarterback in Minnesota. But McCoy, recovering from a third surgery on the ankle he broke last season, is not expected back for at least two months. And Washington since has added rookie Dwayne Haskins to the quarterbacks room, using a first-round pick on the Ohio State signal caller. So where does that leave Keenum?“I think first of all my job is to help this team win no matter what,” Keenum said Monday, via Les Carpenter of the . “That’s being ready to play; that’s being ready to put our offense specifically in the best position to move the ball Deshazor Everett Jersey , get first downs and get touchdowns — score points. That’s my job. That’s what I’m here to do.“Along with that process different things you learn, you might mention something [to Haskins]. But we’ve got a lot of great coaches in that quarterback room, so I don’t need to be a coach in that sense, but I learned more just by watching players around me. First and foremost my job is to get ready to play and be ready when they need me.” It was the first interview for Keenum with the Washington media since he was traded from Denver. He lasted only one season with the Broncos, who signed him as a free agent a year ago.“I’ve been around long enough to know I’m not surprised anymore by just about anything,” he said.Keenum, 31, is with his fifth team in six seasons and likely not long for Washington. Coach Jay Gruden said Monday he expects McCoy back for training camp and wants three quarterbacks to compete for the job.Eventually, that job will belong to Haskins. “This is no new game to me,” Keenum said, laughing.

from a new team by way of an adjusted contract. It is known that Antonio Brown will be considering something other than money.Per a league source Maxx Crosby Oakland Raiders Jersey , quality of quarterback play will be a factor in Brown’s assessment of whether he wants to play for a team to which he could be traded.Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Friday night that the Raiders, Titans, and Washington are the three teams that have shown the most interest in trading for Brown. Although it’s tempting to characterize the Oakland-D.C. angle as a battle between Jon and Jay Gruden, only one Gruden (Jon) will be calling the shots as to how much is given to the Steelers and how much money is paid to Brown. The Steelers publicly acknowledged more than a week ago that three teams have shown interest in trading for Brown. This week, G.M. Kevin Colbert said that more than three teams have shown interest, but he declined to provide an updated number.Per Schefter, the Steelers want a first-round pick for Brown. But would Brown want to catch passes from Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, or whoever the quarterback will be in Washington? Jay Gruden’s receiver-friendly offense could be enticing to Brown Maxx Crosby Jersey 2019 , but none of the options in any of these three places will be a Ben Roethlisberger. As it relates to Ben’s personality, Brown will like that. As it relates to Ben’s throwing skills, all three options will result in a step down for Brown. However it plays out, Brown’s interest in playing for a given team surely will be a factor in that team’s interest in giving up whatever it takes to get him. Which will make it even harder for all parties involved to get what they want. Hey, the Raiders need a feature back. It’s the circle of life, right? Sorta like a few years back when the Dolphins signed center Jake Grove and cut Samson Satele whom the Raiders then signed. Ok, not quite that directly, but you get the picture.Ingram is a two-time Pro Bowler, including as recently as 2017. He’s also averaged 4.7 yards per carry over the past six seasons. Someone will want that production and the Raiders are as legit a candidate as any as they currently have no starting running back.Other free agent running backs still out there include Le’Veon Bell, Tevin Coleman and Jay Ajayi, and of course there’s always the option of re-signing either Marshawn Lynch or Doug Martin. And congrats to Tay Train on his third long term NFL contract.Follow @LeviDamien

is among 15 modern-era finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s class of 2019.First-time eligibles Tony Gonzalez Womens Royce Freeman Jersey , Ed Reed and Champ Bailey will be joined in balloting on Feb. 2 by James, Steve Atwater, Tony Boselli, Isaac Bruce, Don Coryell, Alan Faneca, Tom Flores, Steve Hutchinson, Ty Law, John Lynch, Kevin Mawae and Richard Seymour. Although previously eligible, Flores — who coached two Raiders teams to Super Bowl titles — and longtime defensive lineman Seymour are finalists for the first time. Also being considered for induction are senior committee nominee Johnny Robinson, a star safety for Dallas/Kansas City from 1960-71, and contributors finalists Gil Brandt, former personnel director for the Cowboys and now the NFL’s top draft consultant, and Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.A maximum of eight new members can be elected, five from the modern-era group. Inductions are Aug. 3 in Canton, Ohio.James, a third-time finalist, played the first seven of his 11 NFL seasons with the Colts. He led the league in rushing his first two seasons — he had 1,553 yards in 1999 and 1 Courtland Sutton Jersey ,709 yards in 2000 — and finished his career with 12,246 yards and 80 touchdowns on the ground. Also a skilled receiver out of the backfield, he had 3,364 yards and 11 touchdowns receiving. He made four Pro Bowls.Gonzalez played 17 seasons with the Chiefs and Falcons but never made a Super Bowl. No matter: He holds the career record for tight ends with 1,325 receptions, second overall to only Jerry Rice, and gained more than 15,127 yards while scoring 111 touchdowns. His string of 211 straight games with a catch lasted from 2000-13.Reed spent 12 seasons with the Ravens, Texans and Jets, winning an NFL title in 2012. Considered one of the game’s best cover cornerbacks, he had a career-high 10 interceptions in 2006.Lynch, a standout safety for Tampa Bay and Denver, becomes a finalist for the sixth straight year. Coryell, who coached the high-powered offenses of the Cardinals and Chargers in the 1970s and ’80s, is a five-time finalist. In all, the finalists comprise three safeties, two cornerbacks, two offensive tackles, two coaches Royce Freeman Jersey White , one guard, one center, one tight end, one running back, one wide receiver and one defensive lineman.100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta Three picks after the Baltimore Colts selected John Elway with the 1st pick in the 1983 draft, the Broncos selected tackle Chris Hinton 4th overall. How on earth did the Broncos end up with the 4th overall pick? The 1982 season must have been just awful. The 1982 season was indeed awful in ways that challenge the traditional definition of terrible. First, there was the NFLPA strike that wiped out NFL football for over half the season. Imagine the third game of the season being played the weekend before Thanksgiving! Thankfully, I was only 3-years old at the time and don’t remember it. The 1982 Denver Broncos fielded holdovers from the Super Bowl XII team like Craig Morton, Rob Lytle, Riley Odoms, Tom Glassic, Rick Upchurch, and Randy Gradishar while featuring stars we’d all get to know during the tragic Super Bowl runs of late 1980’s like Denis Smith, Rich Karlis, Gerald Willhite, Keith Bishop, Sammy Winder, and Steve Watson. Managing this collision of eras was Dan Reeves in his first year as head coach of the Denver Broncos. Denver won just 2 games in 1982, none of them in division and none of them in conference. Before the hiatus, the Broncos hosted Bill Walsh, Joe Montana Courtland Sutton Jersey White , and their San Francisco 49ers at Mile High and eked out a victory with the aid of a barefoot Rich Karlis field goal. The other victory came against Ray Malavasi’s Los Angeles Rams. Broncos history honks will remember him as the Denver Broncos interim head coach that replaced Mac Speedie after he dropped the first two games of the 1966 season. Malavasi would notch just a 4-8 record as Broncos head coach before being replaced by Lou Saban for the 1967 season. After turning in a horrid performance in the first game of the season against the San Diego Chargers and getting off to a shaky start against the 49ers, Craig Morton was benched in favor of Steve DeBerg. After falling behind in Anaheim, 21-0 in the 2nd quarter, the Broncos finally found their groove with DeBerg hitting Rick Upchurch for a 51-yard touchdown pass. Running back Rick Parros added another touchdown when DeBerg found him to close out the 2nd quarter. Outside of a Rams field goal in the 4th quarter, the Broncos would own the rest of the game adding two Rich Karlis field goals and another Rick Parros touchdown. Broncos won, 27-24.Interesting side note, in Super Bowl XXXIII, the Broncos faced Dan Reeves, as coach, and Steve DeBerg, as backup quarterback for the Falcons. While everyone remembers that victory over Atlanta as John Elway’s last game, few remember that it was also the conclusion to Steve DeBerg’s 20-year career. So how did this game ‘help pave the way for the Broncos to acquire John Elway’?If you haven’t seen the ESPN’s 30 for 30: Elway to Marino you need to stop what you’re doing right now and seek it out. The documentary details the minutiae of the 1983 NFL draft and gets deeply into what happened between Denver and Baltimore in the historic trade that changed both franchises forever. The Rams and Broncos both finished 1982 with 2-7 records. Since the Broncos won the head-to-head, the Rams got to pick 3rd overall in 1983, right before Denver. Had the Broncos lost to Los Angeles, the Rams trade with the Houston Oilers to get the 2nd overall pick and hall-of-famer Eric Dickerson would have been more difficult to make or wouldn’t have happened at all. Denver could have picked someone other than Chris Hinton and the 1983 draft would have been different. Chris Hinton, backup quarterback Mark Hermann, and the Broncos 1st round pick in the 1984 draft were traded to Baltimore for John Elway. Would Elway have come to Denver without Hinton? The 30 for 30 mentions that the trade was more a product of then-Broncos owner Edgar Kaiser’s relationship with Colts owner Robert Irsay than the elements that were actually exchanged. However, if things didn’t sit as they did on draft day in 1983 as a result of the 1982 season, you can’t say for sure that Elway becomes the cornerstone of Denver Broncos history. It’s crazy to think of the impact a single game can have on a franchise.

He has the speed and lateral quickness to become a stopper in the run game in addition to a tall and lanky frame that would coincide with a pass-rushing prototype. Showed a knack for improvement as the season progressed. He sacked the quarterback five times in the last four games of the year to finish with 7.5 sacks on the season. He has also begun to fill out his frame as he is now 238 pounds compared to the 220 pounds he was listed at during the season. WeaknessesWith just one season on the defensive side of the ball, Bell is about as big of a project as one could imagine. He didn’t react quickly on tape, needs to learn how to use his hands, has no pass-rushing moves to his arsenal Leon Hall Jersey , and needs to become stronger to stand a chance in the run game and against the stronger and larger offensive linemen in the NFL.VerdictIt is the seventh round of an NFL draft. No one is finding players without many weaknesses. Thatt being said, Bell has the athleticism to succeed at the next level and showed an impressive ability to improve illustrated by his five sacks in the last four games of his senior season. There is a long way for Bell to go if he wants to become a player that regular sees the field, but he has the physical traits to make an impact (far) down the line.Fit with RaidersYou can’t ever have too many pass rushers and Oakland needs pass rushers badly. Bell has the physical traits, but no experience and technique. If the coaching staff can help him improve his technique, he could eventually find himself out on the field in pass rush situations, but most likely that’s a ways off. The Raiders drafted running back Josh Jacobs in the first round, and after veteran Isaiah Crowell tore his Achilles this week, the team reportedly is bringing back veteran Doug Martin.Does that close the door on a return by Marshawn Lynch?A report last week indicated Lynch is not planning to play again. But Steve Wyche of NFL Media reports that Lynch would return if the Raiders called. The Raiders said they would revisit Lynch’s future after the draft, but they now appear to have a crowded running back room with Jacobs, Martin, Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington and Chris Warren. If Oakland is inclined to consider re-signing Lynch, he likely would have to agree to a limited role. Jacobs will start and get the bulk of the carries.Lynch, 33, spent the past two seasons suiting up for his hometown team. He played only six games in 2018 because of a core muscle injury.Lynch and Martin combined for 262 carries for 1,099 yards and seven touchdowns last season.

As per Mike Prisuta of WDVE Radio and Steelers.com, while Bush was not in there for the first snap of the day, it appears that he saw a significant amount of time with the starting unit on day one of OTAs, seemingly being given every opportunity to show the coaching staff what he can do from the outset. The ability of the young rookie to be able communicate with the rest of the defense will be key to his development in the early stages of his career, especially if he is to be charged with the task of calling the plays in the huddle. A learning curve that Williams and Cam Heyward are helping him with in their own different ways. When speaking to the media after practice, Heyward was understandably reluctant to get too excited about the rookie’s performance after only one day of training out of pads. But also made it clear that he would do what he could to help the former Michigan product adjust to life in the NFL, despite the obvious college rivalry. As reported by Sarah Spencer of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. And while Barron might be his rival for the starting role, the offseason free agent signing had nothing put positive things to say about his young rival when talking to reporters.Of all of the position battles set to be fought this offseason Ryan Switzer Jersey , the one between Barron and Bush could well be the most interesting to watch. But it perhaps worth acknowledging the relative unimportance of who runs with which unit at this stage in the year. If Bush is dominating the first team snap counts when the team gets to Latrobe, that will be the time to really take notice. No one, of course, would dispute that at this point in the season, it being a divisional game and the division being rather bunched up, that this Sunday’s game is important. Though our tie makes tie-breaker rules largely inapplicable, divisional record is high up on the tiebreaker list. More important still, a victory for us means a loss for the Ravens, and vice-versa. There is Mason Rudolph Jersey , however, another reason why this game is important- the quality of the opponent. For years now Steeler Nation has held its collective breath when playing a gimme, a game against a bad team, like, say, the Browns. We have lost more of these than we should have. When we don't lose to such a team, such as last week's victory against a team like, say, the Browns Ernie Stautner Jersey , the next issue is this- but we aren’t good enough to run with the Chiefs or the Patriots. That may be true. We’ve already lost to the Chiefs. But a Super Bowl run isn’t always dependent upon whether team a is better than team b, but on whether team a can somehow manage to win and move on. It is a rare thing indeed for a consensus top seed to win the Super Bowl.In between these two polls are games like our upcoming game with the Ravens- a game against a team that is somewhere in the middle, a potential playoff team. These too are games that we have to win. What separates one playoff team from another is usually much less than what separates a playoff team from an also ran. As is usually the case, one of these two teams will almost certainly be going to the playoffs this year. If we win, it will make it far more likely that team will be us. We can’t count on rookie mistakes, like we could when facing Baker Mayfield. Joe Flacco may be on the downhill side of his career, but he is a veteran who has won a lot of games. We can’t count on a defense that is just beginning to gel as the Browns’ D is. We’ll be facing the Ravens, who, even when they are bad Joe Haden Jersey , come to play defense. We can’t count on facing a coach who either should have been fired long ago (Lewis) or one who was about to get fired (Jackson.) We’re facing John Harbaugh who is at worst, competent, and at best, pretty good. No one, I don’t think, is expecting the Steelers to run away with the conference. We already know we’re not that good right now. So the question before us is, do we have the talent to make a run? This game will go a long way in answering that question. If we can play a full game, beginning to end, I am confident we’re going to like the answer. If we don’t James Washington Jersey , we may still make the playoffs, but we should expect an early exit. Our tests, of course, don’t stop Sunday. After the Ravens game we will still have to face three teams currently sitting in the top 5 spots of at least some Power Rankings, and two more in the top 10. Some of those we are likely to lose. Hopefully, however, we won’t lose twice this year to any team, and will find ourselves playing in February.

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Coach Jay Gruden's Washington Redskins have established a pattern: When they get a lead, they win; when they trail, they lose. The Redskins (5-3) are the only one of the NFL's 32 teams that both has managed to avoid a single loss after holding a lead AND also has failed to come back to win a game after trailing. The first is good Da’Ron Payne Jersey , of course. The latter could prove to be truly problematic as the season progresses if the offense overseen by Gruden and carried out by quarterback Alex Smith continues to be as ineffective as it's been. "I don't think we're probably even aware" of Washington's inability to erase a deficit this season, Smith said Wednesday, then added: "Certainly we've been in a lot of games that have been back-and-forth."That last assertion is not accurate. Not at all.During each of the Redskins' eight games this season, whichever team scored first not only won — it never fell behind. Not even once.In last week's 38-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Washington was down 14-0 early, cut that to 14-7, then never got closer."It's just a mindset really: You're never out of it until the final gun. We've just got to keep playing. I don't think guys played less hard because we got down. We just didn't make enough plays to come back," Gruden said. "That's something we need to figure out: a way to put our players in position to, A, get the ball back when were on defense and, B, get the ball in the end zone at a decent rate on offense."Heading into the NFC East leaders' game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5) on Sunday, the Redskins are putting up a mere 20 points and 343.9 yards per game, which both rank 25th. No team below them in either of those two categories has a record above .500.The Bucs Derrius Guice Jersey , in contrast, rank No. 7 in points at 28.6, and No. 2 in yards at 446.8.It's the defense that's been Tampa Bay's downfall while losing five of its past six games — worst in the league in points, allowing an average of 34.4, and third-worst in passing yardage, at 307.1.An inability to mount a comeback is typically the mark of a bad club.Currently, the only teams other than Washington without an erase-a-deficit victory this season are the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars, who are both 3-5.Over the previous four complete seasons, the only two teams to go an entire campaign without even one such win were the 2017 Cleveland Browns of 0-16 infamy and the 2017 New York Giants, who were 3-13.During Gruden's 4½ years in charge of Washington, it owns 15 victories in games in which it trailed, which is just the 27th-best total in the NFL. The teams with fewer? The Browns (9), Jaguars (10), Giants (13) Geron Christian Jersey , Chicago Bears (13) and Indianapolis Colts (14)."You can probably count on one hand how many comeback wins we've had since I've been here," Gruden said, exaggerating a bit. "That's something that we have got to do a better job of."Notes: At the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, two of the three offensive linemen signed off the street Monday lined up with the starting unit, with Jon Cooper at left guard and Austin Howard at right tackle. Morgan Moses, the regular RT, worked by himself on a separate field, wearing a big brace on the right knee he injured against Atlanta, although he could be ready to play instead of Howard by Sunday. … The other linemen were Ty Nsekhe at LT, Chase Roullier at C, Tony Bergstrom at RG.

The former Atlanta Legends defensive backs will be joined in Pittsburgh by a fellow former Legend in linebacker J.T. Broncos are clearly planning to “win now” ... right?Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsIn Broncoland it seems that every day the gap between those who love John Elway as GM and those who hate him grows wider. Those who hate him claim that any success the team saw from 2012 to 2015 was thanks only to Peyton Manning and the influence he had in bringing in other top free agents. Those who love him claim that he built one of the greatest offenses and greatest defenses of all time in only a matter of a few seasons and are willing to forgive him his (especially recent) faults as a talent evaluator. Of course, as with all things, the truth is undoubtedly somewhere in the middle. Is he the greatest GM of all time? No, probably not. Is he the worst? No, probably not. But still we see the Twittersphere and comment sections boiling to the brim with factions from both sides duking it out over the ineptitude or...eptitude of the Broncos’ current General Manager.I’m personally on team Elway and though I do think he has dug a deep hole for himself and the team the last few years, it’s not something that hasn’t happened a million times to other teams in the NFL and it’s not like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Of course I could argue my point about Elway being the bomb for a good 3,000 words but I would probably lose half of the readers after the words “I’m team Elway”, so I’ll stick to trying to decipher if this team really is headed in the right direction under the guidance of #7.As everyone and their mother knows by now, the Broncos signed an older but very solid defensive back yesterday - Kareem Jackson - to a contract that seems quite fair in this insane market. Then they went and made Juwan James the highest paid right tackle in the league and spent a huge chunk of their available money in the process. The feelings in the public forumsabout this move are about as varied as those about Elway as G.M and they seem to run along the same lines with the above mentioned factions. For those who hate Elway, any questionable move is, of course, anathema. For those who love him, it’s the greatest signing since PFM. For me, it’s again, somewhere in the middle. He’s a guy with very solid talent and huge upside that fits a need but comes at a cray cray price and could become a bad overpay if he doesn’t progress as a tackle. Since he will have OL whisperer, Mike Munchak, saying sweet nothings into his ear and telling him how good a boy he is, there seems little doubt in the minds of team Elway that he will become the best RT in football. Maybe. Each move the front office has made this offseason indicates that they are in a “win now” or at least a “win soon” mode and that obviously is good news for Broncos’ fans. They re-signed Sanders and Shelby Harris, added a veteran CB and NFL proven RT, hired a grizzled old head coach and traded for Joe Flacco. This in no way looks like a rebuild of any sort. Yay for us....right?Only, the issue is that it’s only good to be in a “win now” mode if you are good enough to...win now. To really succeed in the NFL in 2019 means that you have to have some group or at least a few players that are great. The Broncos have, in my opinion, one great player (Von), one very, very good player (CHJ), one super high potential player (Lindsay) and a good defensive line (Chubb, Wolfe, Harris, Von). Other positions rank anywhere from solid to horrible.Yes, that’s all from my own grading system (which is proven to be about as accurate as PFF by the way) and you may - and most certainly will - disagree with me. Keep in mind though, that I am an Elway apologist. I defend him at nearly every turn and look at him as the GOAT who can practically do no wrong but I still am left incredibly uninspired by this team as it sits right now. This could change in a manner of days with some great F.A additions or in April with a phenomenal draft but it will have to be something off the charts to boost my feeings about the Broncos and “winning now”. It’s rarely that we see a solid or good team win the Super Bowl unless they are led by a HOF QB or coach. Philadelphia a few years back is maybe the best example of a team that had few “greats” but still managed by the sum of their parts to win the trophy. Maybe the Broncos can immitate that team and through gutsy coaching, team effort, a streaky QB and a lot of luck, they can still be playing football in February. Here’s to hoping. (AP) — No, Phillip Lindsay never once thought he’d become the first undrafted offensive player to make the Pro Bowl. He’s been too busy making tacklers miss and general managers regret passing him over in the NFL draft just because he stands 5-foot-8.“I’m an undrafted free agent. To be able to have 100 yards in a game was great. To get a touchdown, to be able to play at (Mile High Stadium), that’s the stuff right there that I dreamt about,” the Denver Broncos‘ rookie running back said Wednesday. “The Pro Bowl is something that you think like five years down the line, three years down the line.”After waiting seven rounds and never hearing his name called or his phone buzz on draft weekend Shannon Sharpe Jersey , Lindsay signed with his hometown Broncos and when he survived cuts after training camp, he sought Hall of Famer Terrell Davis’ blessing to wear his old No. 30 jersey .Yet, Lindsay said he’s been so focused on his next opponent that he didn’t even ponder the possibility of making the Pro Bowl when a couple of Cleveland Browns players told him after their game Saturday night that “our whole linebacker room voted for you for the Pro Bowl.”Excluding special teams players, the only other undrafted rookie to make the Pro Bowl was Dallas Cowboys defensive back Everson Walls in 1981.“That tells you what he’s done,” coach Vance Joseph said. “His first day with us, he was the sixth halfback on the depth chart. The sixth! Obviously, being a rookie free agent. Didn’t go to the combine. Wasn’t drafted. … He came in here just trying to make our football team.”Lindsay started out as a special teams stud and didn’t even start in the backfield until midway through the season.“Now, he’s in the Pro Bowl, so that speaks to his work ethic, his heart and his talent,” Joseph said. “So, it’s amazing what he’s accomplished in such a short time.”Although Lindsay said, “Nobody knew about me when I got here, other than I was little,” teammate Bradley Roby said the veterans sure took notice of him right away.“Very impressive. I know this, when he first got here, OTAs, you kind of feel the rookies out, see how they move. And I always felt that his movement was good,” Roby said. “I was like, ‘This guy’s fast, he’s quick, accelerates.’ I was thinking like if he can run with the pads on, he’s going to be nice.“And he’s done nothing but prove that he’s worth. He should have been drafted, obviously. He’s a gem.”The wild-haired rookie cracked up his teammates during team introductions by saying, “I’m Phillip Lindsay, I’m from Colorado. And I went to Colorado.”Short and sweet.Just like his stride. The first player from the Broncos Futures Football middle school program to sign an NFL contract, Lindsay grew up in Aurora not far from the Broncos headquarters, and starred at Denver South High School and the University of Colorado, where his wild hair and relentless rushing style earned him the nickname “Tasmanian Devil.”Lindsay, who is nine rushing yards shy of 1,000 and whose 5.5-yard average is second in the league, said he’s eager to go to the Pro Bowl with teammate Von Miller, the game’s reigning MVP, and he’s also eager to finally meet Saquon Barkley, the running back from Penn State whom the Giants drafted second overall.Barkley is the only rookie running back who has more yards (1,155) than he does (991), although both have nine touchdown runs.“It’s going to be fun to be able to finally talk to Saquon,” Lindsay said. “We always heard about each other, but we never got to see each other. So, it will be cool to hang out with each other.”Lindsay had hoped to meet Barkley at the NFL combine last spring but he never received an invitation to the league’s annual gathering of top draft hopefuls, a snub that’s driven him all season along with going undrafted two months later.Lindsay said he hopes his remarkable rise will inspire kids everywhere who are overlooked underdogs.“You’ve got to keep pushing, you just never know. You’ve got to keep the faith no matter what,” Lindsay said. “Everybody can take anything from you, but they can’t take your faith. That’s what you’ve got to rely on. You’ve got to go for your dreams.”

During his junior and senior seasons, he started 24 games, and played both left and right tackle during his senior year. His senior year was sufficiently accomplished that he was named Second Team All Mountain West in 2018. His athleticism comps are impressive - approximating guys like Ryan Ramczyk (first round pick), Andrus Peat (first round pick), Orlando Franklin (second round pick), and Mike Adams (second round pick) - but the concern is that his technique and the application of his strength aren’t producing a on-the-field product that matches. To top it all off, Pope was manhandled by Jordan Brailford in the Shrine Game, surrendering a sack, and likely hampering his draft stock.StrengthsPlayed both right and left tackleGreat athleticism NastyRun blockingSizeWeaknessesNeeds to get strongerFootworkPass blockingLet’s see his workHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsPope was a medalist at the Underwear Olympics, but there appears to be a significant gap between his potential and his reality. If there wasn’t, however Vernon Davis Jersey , he would likely be a first or second rounder. So, if scouting staff and Bill Callahan see an opportunity to successfully mold a guy like Pope, he could potentially be a late round or UDFA steal. Pope’s versatility at the line is reminiscent of Geron Christian’s, and if the coaching staff are confident that Christian is making the necessary strides, a player like Pope may be superfluous. On the other hand, Pope’s athleticism may be sufficiently attractive that he could be brought into camp to compete for the swing tackle role outright. Injuries were the theme of the 2018 season along the Washington offensive line.Nine different offensive linemen played at least 200 offensive snaps for the team as they mixed and matched on a weekly basis to fill out the unit. One of the biggest losses was right guard Brandon Scherff, who was lost for the year at midseason to a torn pectoral muscle.Scherff said this week that he feels he is back to about 90 percent and expects to be “ready to go” in time for training camp.“I think it was just a fluke injury,” Scherff said, via the team’s website. “My arm got caught in a weird position, and my pec popped. There’s nothing you can really train for that injury, but it’s all about getting stronger and eating healthier — I’ve been doing that a lot better — and just not worrying about [the injury]. Just going out and playing football.”Washington has to figure out its starting quarterback for the 2019 season, but life will be better for whoever gets that job if the team’s able to field a consistent offensive line this time around.
