season NFL debut for the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Australian Rugby League star is playing his first year of American football and made a positive impression in the preseason despite his incredible inexperience with the game. However Youth Jordan Matthews Jerseys , his prior rugby experience makes for an intriguing possibility as a ball carrier at some point down the line as well. It’s a possibility Eagles head coach Doug Pederson hasn’t shot down.“He鈥檚 definitely used to carrying a larger football. Do they call it a football? I don鈥檛 know what they call it,” Pederson said, via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “Very athletic guy. It鈥檚 intriguing. It鈥檚 not out of the question.”At 6-foot-8, 346 pounds, Mailata would be one of the largest players to ever carry a football in a running back capacity. He’s not going to take a job from Darren Sproles, Corey Clement or Wendell Smallwood any time soon. Any chance he’d be used as a running back would likely be highly specialized situations as well.Nevertheless, it’s a fun idea to consider and Pederson is just the type of coach that would give it a shot if the right opportunity were to present itself. Philadelphia Eagles — Primary tight ends: Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Richard Rodgers. Ertz is a 28-year-old Pro Bowler who set career highs in catches (116), receiving yards (1,163), and catch rate (74.4 percent) last season. Goedert didn’t need much time to adjust to the league even after playing his college ball at South Dakota State, grading out as one of league’s best run blockers at his position. After hauling in 33 catches and four touchdowns, he’s capable of filling the gaps others leave behind if they focus too hard on Ertz. Rodgers is a useful depth option and special teamer who can catch the hell out of a Hail Mary.Report: Eagles’ Joe Douglas will interview for Jets general manager job on Sunday - BGNPhilly could be losing a key front office member soon.Jim Schwartz hints at more player acquisitions for his defense - PhillyVoiceThe Philadelphia Eagles’ offense is loaded. The defense? Eh, on paper Jordan Matthews Jerseys Stitched , it looks solid, but it doesn’t lack its areas of concern. Speaking for the first time since the Birds were eliminated from the playoffs, Jim Schwartz was asked about his thoughts on the the player acquisitions to his defense this offseason. ”It’s obviously still a work in progress,” he said. “If history holds true, there will be another addition somewhere along the line. Howie and Joe have never been shy about adding another player in training camp or at the waiver wire or anything else.” Well then. It sounds a lot like Schwartz would welcome more players being added to his side of the ball. This offseason, of course, the Eagles allocated more resources to their offense than their defense.Appreciating the Eagles - Iggles BlitzSince Jeffrey Lurie took over the Eagles in 1994, he wanted to turn them into a good organization. The first few years were erratic, on and off the field. There wasn’t a strong leader for the organization and it was easy to question just what was going on. Lurie hired Tom Modrak to be the team’s General Manager in 1998 and that had a huge impact. He brought experience and structure to the front office. Lurie and Joe Banner then hired Andy Reid in 1999 and that really changed things. In terms of being part of the community, the first memory I have is Jermane Mayberry’s eyemobile for kids. That started in 1996. Now the Eagles do all kinds of charity events. Players do charitable things on their own. Some of this is for PR, but I think a lot of it is genuine. Become part of the community and help those around you. Take advantage of your time in the limelight. It is easy to be an Eagles fan with what you see, on and off the field. Just look around the rest of the sports world and you see some less than stellar organizations. This time of the year, it’s all about the Brain Game - PE.comIn Year 2, Goedert is in a different place, with a different role. “I’m so much more comfortable, it isn’t even close Youth Timmy Jernigan Jerseys ,” Goedert said. “This time of the year, you’re in the playbook, you’re in the classroom. You have to get it down there first before you take it to the field. I think I’m faster in the offense because I know what I’m doing now. I have a good feel for what I’m supposed to be doing and that makes a huge difference.”Eagles fans show Carson Wentz at annual charity softball game they’re 100 percent behind QB despite injuries - CBS SportsAnd, boy, do they trust. Asked if Wentz is the right guy to lead the Eagles back to the Super Bowl, Rachel Englehardt, of Horsham, replied without hesitation: “I know he is.” At least half a dozen others gave the exact same answer: “One hundred percent.”Ranking the 25 biggest position upgrades of the 2019 NFL offseason - ESPN In$ider23. Philadelphia Eagles, WRDeSean Jackson replaces Jordan Matthews. Matthews’ 2018 stat line: 20 receptions, 300 yards, 2 TD. Jackson’s 2019 projection: 45 receptions, 765 yards, 5 TD. Whether they’ve tried Nelson Agholor, Torrey Smith or Mike Wallace, the Eagles have struggled to add a vertical element to the offense since Doug Pederson was hired in 2016. During the three seasons, they’ve completed a pedestrian 76-of-221 targets 20-plus yards down field (34.4 percent) for 2 Timmy Jernigan Jerseys Stitched ,768 yards and 12.5 yards per target. They looked to rectify that by trading for old friend Jackson, who returns to the team that drafted him, following five seasons away. Jackson’s 10.8 yards per target was sixth highest in the NFL last season, and his career 10.0 YPT tops the league since he was drafted in 2008. The 32-year-old will be a force as a lid lifter in 2019, as will 2019 draft pick JJ Arcega-Whiteside.NFL Insiders Pick 2019 Rookie of the Year Candidates - B/RMiles Sanders, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles have a talented and loaded depth chart at running back, which is the only reason why Miles Sanders wasn’t ranked higher. Sanders has the talent and is a perfect fit in Doug Pederson’s offense; it’s just a matter of breaking out of the pack to get the touches needed to produce.Which NFL Teams Will Have the Biggest Contracts Due? - MMQB5. Eagles/Jaguars: Both of these teams have either been able to build their roster thanks to a team-friendly rookie quarterback deal, or have recently seen the downside of what happens when that quarterback doesn’t pan out. Philadelphia’s brilliant run in free agency, trades and the draft will come to head with the looming decision on Carson Wentz’s rookie deal after this season (it expires after 2020). Meanwhile, the Jaguars are doing all they can to keep a star-studded supporting cast alive long enough for Nick Foles to take them to the playoffs. Sooner or later, Jalen Ramsey is going to want (and deserve) an awful lot of money.Vinny Curry back with Eagles to chase that Super Bowl feeling - NBCSPFor whatever reason, Jim Schwartz didn’t want to mention the name of the game, so we’ll try to honor his request. On Tuesday, Schwartz was talking about the new additions to the Eagles’ defense and the first person he named was Vinny Curry, who played his first six years in Philadelphia before joining the Buccaneers for one season. After getting cut by Tampa Bay Youth Chance Warmack Jerseys , he’s back with the Eagles on a one-year deal. “He really looks like he hasn’t missed a beat from where he was when he last played a game for us,” Schwartz said, “which was in Minnesota.” You probably remember the game in Minnesota. It was the last game of the 2017 season but was played on Feb. 4, 2018; ringing any bells?Like he had in the 18 games prior, Curry started this one too. He played 44 snaps (58 percent) and had four tackles. The Eagles won. They got a trophy. “I’m trying to really, really take it to the next level,” Curry said this week. “To feel that feeling again, I’ll do anything in the world for it. I’m just working.Redskins not expected to release Josh Norman for salary cap relief - Hogs HavenThere has been a lot of speculation about Josh Norman’s future with the Washington Redskins. He was a surprise signing after the Carolina Panthers rescinded the franchise tag in 2016, and the Redskins made the former All Pro the highest-paid CB in the NFL. Norman has been Washington’s top corner the last few years, but he hasn’t been a superstar. Head Coach Jay Gruden said he loved what Norman has brought to the team, but he’s looking for that next level play. JP Finlay reports that Josh Norman won’t be getting cut for post-June 1st salary cap relief according to a team official....Social Media Information:BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our pageBGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreenBGN Manager: Brandon Lee Gowton: Follow @BrandonGowtonBGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio

ENGLEWOOD Von Miller Jersey , Colo. (AP)The Denver Broncos have signed Mark Chapman, a rookie wide receiver from Central Michigan University who was the top overall selection in the 2018 Canadian Football League draft.Chapman didn’t sign with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and now is taking a longshot at playing in the NFL, an opportunity that arose after two receivers failed to report to training camp this week.Carlos Henderson, a third-round pick out of Louisiana Tech last year, is dealing with a family situation, his agent said, and Jimmy Williams, an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina who received a $10,000 bonus, also was placed on the reserve/did not report list. The Broncos have a dozen receivers on their roster, including incumbent starters Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders and 2018 draft picks DaeSean Hamilton and Courtland Sutton. With veteran Jordan Taylor returning from offseason hip surgeries, there’s an abundance of receiving talent the likes of which the Broncos haven’t had since Peyton Manning was the one throwing the passes.Henderson faces a tough task to make the 53-man roster when – and if – he shows up. He missed his rookie season with a thumb injury after an unimpressive training camp and in January was arrested in Louisiana on a marijuana possession charge. He missed much of this year’s offseason program with a lingering hamstring injury that led coach Vance Joseph to call him out.”He’s got to get back on the field if he wants to make this football team,” Joseph said during the team’s mandatory minicamp last month.— An intriguing prospect is visiting Dove Valley"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Broncos NewsBroncos Free AgencyBroncos DraftBroncos PodcastsBroncos 2019 ScheduleKey Offseason DatesCommunity RulesFull ArchiveBroncos StoriesScheduleRosterStatsOdds Shop About Masthead Community Guidelines StubHub 鉁旴reaking NewsBroncos 2019 Draft Class Announced脳Broncos Draft 2019Report: Broncos had a pre-draft visit with Notre Dame defensive lineman, Jerry TilleryNew,16commentsAn intriguing prospect is visiting Dove Valley Report: Broncos had a pre-draft visit with Notre Dame defensive lineman, Jerry TilleryJerome Miron-USA TODAY SportsAccording to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio Joe Flacco Jersey , the Denver Broncos are having a pre-draft visit/workout with former Notre Dame defensive lineman, Jerry Tillery. He’s a 6’6”, 295lb defensive lineman who is considered one of the more intriguing prospects in the entire draft.Tillery played a total of four seasons at Notre Dame and turned into one of their best defensive players during that span. During his four-year career at Notre Dame, TIllery totaled 133 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, 12.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. This past season, Tillery totaled 28 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.Currently, Tillery is recovering from a torn labrum in his shoulder. He played the final games of the season at Notre Dame with this injury as well as participating at the Combine with the injury. That puts his already impressive numbers into perspective. Tillery is likely to be a mid to late first-round pick who could maybe slide into day two, but that 15 to 40 range is likely where he goes. This means the Broncos would either have to trade up back into the first-round for him or trade back into the later portions of the first-round to get him. I’d assume the trade back option is the more likely scenario here. Tillery would give the Broncos something they currently do not have on their roster. That is a legit pocket pusher/interior pass rusher. Shelby Harris is great and can do this as well, but doesn’t have the interior pass rush upside that Tillery has. The Broncos haven’t had a player like this ever since Malik Jackson bolted to Jacksonville during free agency a few years back. I really like TIllery’s upside, especially on a team that has Vic Fangio and Bill Kollar on their defensive coaching staff.

on the practice field. He ended it on injured reserve.Sanders tore his Achilles early in practice. The Broncos have placed the receiver on injured reserve Garett Bolles Jersey , Mike Klis of Denver’s 9News reports. Denver needed the roster spot after claiming receiver Andre Holmes off waivers from the Bills.Sanders, 31, played all 12 games this season, making 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns.鈥淚t鈥檚 like I鈥檝e said before: You don鈥檛 really replace guys,” Broncos quarterback Case Keenum told reporters Wednesday after Sanders’ injury. “Emmanuel, obviously one of the best guys I鈥檝e ever worked with. From what I knew about him coming in, seeing how he worked, how he handled himself and how he led, it鈥檚 surpassed all of my expectations by far and away. He鈥檚 an incredible guy. [But] I have all the trust in the world in those other guys.鈥漈he trade of Demaryius Thomas to Houston and the injury to Sanders opens up more opportunities for Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton and Tim Patrick, who have played in a combined 34 career games — all this season — and made a combined 37 receptions for 692 yards and four touchdowns. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Whoever replaces Vance Joseph as the Denver Broncos‘ fourth head coach in six seasons may not find a franchise quarterback awaiting him. What he will find is a roster packed with promise. The Broncos (6-10) had a terrific infusion of youth last season led by running back Phillip Lindsay , the first undrafted offensive rookie ever to earn a Pro Bowl berth, although wrist surgery will keep him from playing in the all-star game.General manager John Elway’s highly touted 2018 draft class features first-rounder Bradley Chubb, receivers DaeSean Hamilton and Courtland Sutton, linebacker Josey Jewell, running back Royce Freeman and cornerback Isaac Yiadom.NFL players typically make their biggest jump between their first and second seasons, so this group anticipates a big “leap year” in 2019, and they’re pledging to lead the franchise out of its three-year playoff drought, too.“Broncos country doesn’t have to worry about us going 6-10 again,” Sutton insisted. “Our core is going to be so strong and so tight, we’re going to show up and we’re going to go to work every single day DaeSean Hamilton Jersey , every week. And we’re not going to leave it up for chance in any games.”Chubb led all NFL rookies by collecting a dozen sacks, something he said was just an appetizer.“I’ll definitely make a bigger impact” next season, Chubb said, “whether it be in the run game, the pass game, whatever it takes.”With the middling Case Keenum at quarterback, the biggest personnel attraction for head coaching candidates is the league’s best pass-rushing duo of Chubb and Von Miller.“I’d like to think that I’m a coach’s dream,” Miller said. “We’ve got a lot of big-time players here. We’ve got Bradley Chubb, who’s coming into his second year.”The pair combined for 26½ sacks in their first season together.Star cornerback Chris Harris Jr., who is in line for a big contract extension this offseason, said he hopes the new coach injects some juice into the playbook so it can catch up to the likes of Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, Baker Mayfield in Cleveland and Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.Harris said the Broncos have been stagnant since winning Super Bowl 50 three years ago on the strength of a historically good defense and they’ve watched other teams incorporate college game concepts and sweep right past them.“We kind of just stayed doing the same thing we’ve been doing since 2015,” Harris said. “It’s 2019 now. We’ve got to evolve. We can’t do the same thing. I’ve got to evolve my game. I can’t think I’m going to still play the same coverage and the way I played in 2015 or 2013. I have to evolve my game and we have to evolve, too.”He wants the new coaching staff to incorporate the RPO (run-pass option) philosophies on both offense and defense, and Elway is on board.“Yeah, no doubt, especially if you look at where the rules are going. The rules are getting shifted to the offensive side, too,” Elway said. “We’ve relied on our defense for a long time. I think that we’re still going to rely on the defense, but we definitely have to get better on the offensive side.”Aside from the arduous search for a franchise QB, the Broncos have an ongoing ownership squabble and a demanding general manager who wants a quick turnaround, mandates immediate results and won’t sign off on a slow rebuild “because that sounds like an excuse.”“I hate to lose Josey Jewell Jersey ,” Elway said . “I hate it more now than I ever have, and we’re going to do everything we can to get us back on track and get us winning football games and get back to competing for world championships.”Candidates will also see a rabid fan base that’s equally impatient, an organization with sparkling training facilities and three shiny Super Bowl trophies and a team with the wherewithal to make a big splash in free agency for the first time since Elway signed Aqib Talib, Emmanuel Sanders, DeMarcus Ware and T.J. Ward to Denver in 2014.The next hire will be the Broncos’ sixth coach in 12 years.“It’s a short leash for anyone that comes in,” cautioned linebacker Brandon Marshall. But still an attractive gig, linebacker Todd Davis said.“I don’t think there’s anywhere better in the NFL to coach,” Davis said. “I feel like it’s a big position that a lot of people want to fill.”Elway’s wish list includes a mix of experience and youth, offensive and defensive roots.Three candidates are around his age: former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, 58; former Titans head coach and current Steelers O-line coach Mike Munchak, 58; and Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, 60.Two others are in the mold of 32-year-old Rams coach Sean McVay, including his QBs coach, 35-year-old Zac Taylor, and Brian Flores, the 37-year-old de facto defensive coordinator for the Patriots.“We are going to try to find that guy with the ‘it’ factor, that can make those right decisions and also lead men,” Elway said. “We’re confident we can find that guy.”Because he sure doesn’t want to be doing this again anytime soon.“I hope that we can hire a guy that can be here for the next 10 years, 15 years,” Elway said.

Though primarily focused on season long PPR scoring, this advice can be used in other formats or for DFS consideration as well. Now for season long, most top starters should always be in your line-up even if they have a tougher match-up on paper so we won’t focus as much there. The one exception is at the quarterback position where there can be some value to streaming your QB even if you have a top tier guy. Also I will include a Thursday Night Football preview as well. Thursday Night Football:Colts: T.Y. Hilton, Marlon Mack and Jack Doyle remain out. This leaves a very weakened Colts offense on a short week road game, coming off an overtime game. It is not ideal as they could struggle to move the football, but the Colts passing game is still viable. Andrew Luck will likely throw 45-55 times in this game, versus a disappointing Patriots defense. Quality Plays: Andrew Luck, Eric EbronSolid Plays: Ryan Grant, Nyheim HinesDeep league/flyer plays: Chester Rogers, Zach PascalPatriots: It appears both Rob Gronkowski and Josh Gordon will end up playing tonight Dexter Manley Jersey , though both are listed as questionable. The Patriots offense has been frustratingly inconsistent this season, but they are coming off a big win and were able to stay home during this short week. Julian Edelman is back and expected to play a large role. James White remains highly involved in the offense and is a great option for PPR formats. Rookie RB Sony Michel should have a positive game script again this week, which could see him get a fair amount of usage. While playing Brady is obvious, this probably isn’t going to be a week where he goes off for a big game. I would be cautious about playing Gronkowski given that he may sit later in the game if the Patriots are up. Gordon is unlikely to play a significant role this game unless New England is down.Quality Plays: Tom Brady, Julian EdelmanSolid Plays: James White, Sony MichelDeep league/flyer plays: Chris Hogan, Philip DorsettAvoid if possible: Rob GronkowskiFull Fade: Josh GordonQuarterbacks:Quality Plays: Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Kirk Cousins, Philip Rivers, Blake Bortles-Big Ben and Ryan play in the game with the highest projected over/under and this game looks to be the best shoot-out of the week. Brees is coming off a bad game and the Redskins pass defense has been impressive so far, but Drew Brees at home is typically hard to contain. Add in the narrative of him going for the passing record in prime time and it’s hard to not like Brees. The Vikings offensive line can’t run the football and the Eagles defense excels at stopping the run. Cousins will need to throw 45-50 times versus an Eagles secondary that has been very suspect this season. Bortles has been up and down this year, but when he’s had big games they have been huge. Expect him to throw alot versus a poor Chiefs defense.Solid Plays: Patrick Mahomes, Derek Carr, Jared Goff, Cam Newton, Alex Smith, Matt Stafford-Mahomes typically will be in the top tier, but this is by far his toughest defensive test yet. I don’t think the Jaguars can stop him, but they might be able to contain him. Carr has started to string together some really good games and faces a Chargers secondary that is giving up some big plays each week. Goff should be in line for a good game, but his upside is likely limited as the Rams figure to be up this week and not in a shootout. Newton is always a good option at home and faces a Giants defense that is really struggling. Smith will likely need to match Brees score for score, so expect more passing attempts for the Redskins this week. Stafford is at home versus a Packers team that has allowed a couple big passing weeks already this season. The one concern with Stafford is that the Packers could really look to slow the game down with their running game.Guys to sit if possible: Aaron Rodgers, DeShaun Watson, Marcus Mariota-Rodgers just hasn’t looked himself since injuring his leg. While he’s playing well from a real football perspective, his fantasy production has taken a serious hit. Watson is always dangerous, but playing the Cowboys in likely a slower paced game will limit his fantasy upside. Also Cole Holcomb Washington Redskins Jersey , if Houston gets up in this game, Watson and the passing game may take a back seat. Mariota is coming off a huge game, but he’s still not 100%. The Titans should be able to dominate the Bills and that means it could be a 2nd half filled with hand-offs from the Titans.Running backs:Guys to play:James Connor- Connor has been disappointing the past few weeks, but he’s getting a ton of targets and the Falcons are getting destroyed by backs out of the backfield. Should be a bigbounce-back week.T.J. Yeldon- Yeldon should play this week for an injured Leonard Fournette, and see usage both running and receiving. The Chiefs defense is struggling to cover backs out of the backfield and is giving up big running plays just about every game. Matt Breida- The 49ers are at home and the Cardinals have been one of the worst teams versus the run so far this season. While Alfred Morris will get some work, Breida is clearly the better weapon in this offense and is getting more work.Joe Mixon- Mixon is back this week and on top of that it appears that Gio Bernard will sit this week, giving Mixon even more opportunities. The Bengals are home favorites and the Dolphins have struggled against the run this season.Guys to avoid:Devonta Freeman/Tevin Coleman: Both running backs should be healthy this week and likely that means a true split back-field situation. It’s tough to really know who will get the ball and in what situation. It’s possible in a high total game one of these backs hits, but it’s tough to feel confident about it.Dalvin Cook: As mentioned above the Vikings can’t run and the Eagles don’t let anyone run. Cook is still working back from an injury so he isn’t even likely to see added touches from the passing game. Just avoid this situation at all costs.Adrian Peterson: Peterson just isn’t likely to find a lot of success versus a Saints defense that is allowing just 3.2 yards per carry. This game also figures to be more of a shootout meaning Peterson will probably be on the bench a lot more in this game as Chris Thompson should see a bigger role.Others to avoid if you can: Jay Ajayi, Dion Lewis, Carlos Hyde, LeSean McCoyReceivers:Guys to play:Emmanuel Sanders- It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Sanders as Case Keenum has struggled of late, but this is a really good match-up for Sanders and one he could exploit for a huge game.Calvin Ridley- Eventually you will want to get off the Ridley train as he’s due for some negative touchdown regression and his usage isn’t near what Julio Jones sees, but this feels like another good game for the rookie. It’s a high total game and the Steelers secondary is getting destroyed through the air.Tyler Boyd- Boyd is getting more and more usage in the Bengals offense and has clearly established a connection with Andy Dalton. With Tyler Eifert now hurt, expect Boyd to continue to see a high level of involvement.Nelson Agholor- Even with Alshon back, Agholor is still a quality fantasy option running out of the slot. That is where the Vikings have been burned so far this season, so look for a potential big game for Agholor.Jordy Nelson- After a slow start to the season Nelson has 8 targets and a TD in each of the last two games. He has a good match-up and should see 7-10 targets this week.Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook, Donte Moncrief- It’s unlikely all three have good fantasy games, but it’s likely one or two really hit this week. The Chiefs secondary is very beatable and this game could see Jacksonville need to throw the ball 40-50 times. It’s tough to predict which receiver(s) will hit, but they are worth using this week given their upside. Guys to avoid:Larry Fitzgerald- Fitzgerald just can’t get anything going in this new Cardinals offense and he’s less than 100% healthy. Maybe eventually he and Josh Rosen can get something going, but right now you have to avoid him.Corey Davis- Davis is coming off a huge game, but he’s dealing with an injury and it’s likely that the Titans get up big early in this game. If that happens there is no reason why Davis will even be on the field, much less the Titans even trying to throw the ball in the 2nd half.Robbie Anderson- Anderson had a lot of preseason hype, but he’s struggled to get anything going with Sam Darnold. He’s a complete fade at this point and probably a guy you might want to trade in season long for anything of value.Michael Crabtree- Crabtree is really struggling to start the year as he’s had a number of key drops. He’s still getting a decent amount of targets, but if he keeps dropping them expect that to change. This match-up is okay, but if the Ravens get up early the focus could be on the running game.Note: This is a new section so I’ll be testing out some different formats. Let me know in the comments any ideas you might have.

Talk about your dramatic wins. The Minnesota Wild might not have a better win this season than their first Adidas Erik Karlsson Jersey , a 4-3 overtime decision Thursday night over the Chicago Blackhawks that featured a short-handed equalizer in the last 25 seconds of regulation and a game-winning breakaway goal from Jason Zucker.“If this is how the year is going to be, I won’t have any hair left at the end of it,” Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau quipped.Article continues below ...With a two-point game in their pocket for the first time, the Wild try to push above .500 Saturday in a late-afternoon clash with the Carolina Hurricanes that finishes a three-game homestand.Minnesota (1-1-1) came into the game against Chicago looking for offense. They finally sustained puck possession and drove play.Chicago goalie Cam Ward made a spate of outstanding saves that probably prevented Minnesota from scoring six or seven goals, yet the Wild were in danger of losing again after Mikael Granlund took a holding minor at 18:43 of the third period. But Minnesota took advantage of the Blackhawks’ inability to maintain puck control. Eric Staal and Zack Parise pumped shots at Ward, who saved them both. However, defenseman Ryan Suter, who rarely ventures below the point on offense Adidas Adam Cracknell Jersey , got to the top of the blue paint and poked home a rebound to force overtime.“Just desperation … just trying to get to the net and help out,” Suter said.Zucker wrapped things up in overtime with his second goal of the night, capping one of the best games for anyone in the league during the first week-plus. He finished with three points, a plus-four plus-minus rating and put 10 shots on net.He was a prime reason why the Wild tied their fourth-highest shot total in a game and equaled their second-most shots on goal in a home game.“I wasn’t happy with how I played the first two games,” Zucker said. “I thought I had some good spurts. It just wasn’t good enough. I know the way I can play and tonight was much more like it. I think everybody would have said the same thing about the first two games.”While Minnesota found some footing, Carolina (3-0-1) has been on solid ground from the opener, when it outshot the New York Islanders 46-20 but lost 2-1 in overtime. It has won three straight since then, including a 5-3 decision Tuesday night over Vancouver.Under first-year coach Rod Brind’Amour, the Hurricanes have found their scoring touch Adidas Josh Jooris Jersey , registering 17 goals, the third-highest total through four games in franchise history.“We want to play that way offensively,” he said. “That’s the way we have to play. We have good talent, and we have to use it to our advantage. Now we have to get better at the other end. I think there’s a lot of room for improvement, which is a positive that we’re still finding ways to get wins.” Hitting the road isn’t normally seen as a good thing for NHL teams, but the New York Islanders are embracing their longest trip of the season to date.New York (15-12-4) starts a four-game Western Conference swing Monday night at Colorado with a good attitude and with the hope of building momentum after a 4-3 shootout win over Detroit on Saturday night.“I think it’s kind of nice, get on the road, be together as a group, kind of get that bonding again Adidas Timothy Liljegren Jersey ,” center Mathew Barzal told Newsday after the win over the Red Wings. “I get excited playing in front of other fans. I think we all do.”Article continues below ...The Islanders will be on the road when the NHL roster freeze starts Wednesday and concludes Sunday in Dallas just ahead of the Christmas break.“It’s right before Christmas, right before everyone gets to see family and get some time off,” Anthony Beauvillier, who extended his goal streak to three games on Saturday, told Newsday. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.” Beauvillier might change his tune when facing the high-scoring Avalanche on Monday night. Colorado (18-9-6) has scored 121 goals, tops in the Western Conference and third overall, and is coming off a 6-4 win over Dallas on Saturday night. The top line for the Avalanche has combined for 148 points this season and scored five of the six goals against the Stars.Colorado could have had more goals Saturday but had two disallowed upon review.Forward Mikko Rantanen (56 points) is on a 14-game point streak and leads the NHL in scoring. Center Nathan MacKinnon (52 points) is second. The third member, captain Gabe Landeskog, has 21 goals Adidas Tyler Ennis Jersey , tied with MacKinnon for the team lead.“I’m fortunate to be part of such a good line that finds different ways to score goals,” Landeskog said after the game. The Avalanche pulled out that win on Landeskog’s goal at 16:40 gave them the lead, and MacKinnon added an empty-netter 1:57 later after blowing a two-goal lead in the third period.New York has had issues with the third period this season before pulling one out against Detroit at home. It was the first time in 10 games the Islanders have won when trailing after two periods but helped them improve to 3-3-1 in December.New York might need to put up more goals Monday than it has lately. The Islanders average 2.9 goals per game but only 2.3 in the last seven. That might not be enough against a team that averages 3.7 goals per game. They also can’t afford to lose ground in the playoff race. Even though it’s only December, dropping valuable points could make things tougher down the road.“You’re going to see in these next four, five games things start to settle in a little bit,” New York captain Anders Lee told Newsday. “It’s that time of the year where these points are crucial. Moves are starting to be made and things start to get a little more set in stone. It only gets harder and harder to climb out of a hole if you get put in one.”

In his first career start, Brandon Powell saw a career-high 47 snaps and earned a career-high 107 receiving yards. No Luke Willson meant that Levine Toilolo and Jerome Cunningham took on more of a role with the offense. Joe Dahl and Tyrell Crosby split time as the sixth linemen in on certain packages. With Nick Bellore back as the full-time fullback, the Lions didn’t need to use either as much. Defense:Defensive endRomeo Okwara: 47 (84%) — 1 (4%)Kerry Hyder: 37 (66%) — 3 (12%)Eric Lee: 9 (16%) — 3 (12%)Defensive tackleRicky Jean Francois: 19 (34%) — 1 (4%)Damon Harrison: 18 (32%)John Atkins: 10 (18%) A’Shawn Robinson: 15 (25%)LinebackersJarrad Davis: 56 (100%) — 1 (4%)Devon Kennard: 55 (98%) — 3 (12%)Christian Jones: 29 (52%)Eli Harold: 17 (30%) — 2 (8%)Kelvin Sheppard: 0 (0%) — 16 (67%)Trevor Bates: 0 (0%) — 15 (62%)CornerbacksDarius Slay: 56 (100%) — 2 (8%)Teez Tabor: 50 (89%) — 12 (50%)Mike Ford: 50 (89%) — 12 (50%)Marcus Cooper: 6 (11%) — 11 (46%) Dee Virgin: 0 (0%) — 15 (62%)SafetyQuandre Diggs: 56 (100%) — 3 (12%)Tracy Walker: 35 (62%) — 11 (46%)Tavon Wilson: 33 (59%) — 11 (46%)Glover Quin: 32 (57%) — 6 (25%)Miles Killebrew: 0 (0%) — 15 (62%)Observations:The first thing that jumps out is the positional distribution. The Lions were clearly focused on devoting as many resources to the secondary. Seven different defensive backs played more than 50 percent of the snaps, while that was true for just two players on the defensive line. It was a quiet day from Damon Harrison, which makes sense considering the Packers ran just 13 times on Sunday—and four of those were quarterback runs. Teez Tabor had an active day, playing the second-highest percentage of snaps in his career. It was a fairly quiet day from Tabor, which is always a good thing for an NFL cornerback. At safety, both Tracy Walker and Tavon Wilson got more playing time than veteran Glover Quin. Despite the sharing of the wealth, Miles Killebrew was purely a special teams player. Killebrew went the entire season without playing a single defensive snap. Special teamsSam Martin: 16 (67%)Don Muhlbach: 10 (42%)Matt Prater: 6 (25%)Film breakdown: How Frank Ragnow became an elite pass protector overnight The first two games of Frank Ragnow’s career as a Detroit Lion did not go as well as everyone (including the Pride of Detroit staff) had hoped they would. One of the big selling points pumping up the perceived value in “stealing” the former Razorback in the first round was that he did not surrender a single sack in his entire college career. Imagine our surprise, then Sam Martin Jersey , when Detroit’s new starting left guard struggled in pass protection against the Jets in Week 1 and again against the 49ers in Week 2. His outing at Levi’s Stadium was so bad, it earned a pretty horrific grade from Pro Football Focus.Along with the rest of the team, though, the rookie turned it around in Week 3 against the Patriots. While Cris Collinsworth lavished praise upon Ragnow’s run blocking throughout the broadcast, on second re-watch of the game film we were pleasantly surprised by how consistent his pass blocking was (he “lost” maybe two or three pass protection reps all night). Fearless leader Jeremy Reisman asked what changed: how does Frank Ragnow go from PFF doghouse to PFF team of the week?To hopefully shed some light on this puzzle, we unfortunately must go back to the unpleasant tape from the games against the Jets and Niners.Chasing to the outsideSomething that came out in bad tape from the first two games was a tendency for Ragnow to set for the outside rush and not make it back inside in time to close off the interior lane. Securing the inside is critical because the edge blocking depends on having a clean place for the quarterback to step up into and the players inside have the shortest and most direct path to the passer. A collapsed pocket often leads to a broken play or a sack.2018 Week 1 vs NYJ, 2Q (0:21). Third-and-3 at the New York 3.On the last offensive play of the opening half in Week 1, the Lions had an opportunity to take a final shot at the end zone. The play call is mirrored curl-flat combinations to spread the field on both sides and 25 HB Theo Riddick sitting down in front of Stafford near the goal line. New York came with four-man pressure, sending former Lion 51 LB Brandon Copeland twisting to the inside behind 96 DL Henry Anderson.Ragnow lunges at Anderson as he makes the first lateral move on the switch. That throws the rookie off balance and prevents him from picking up Copeland up the gut. 9 QB Matthew Stafford is forced to sail the ball out of bounds and Detroit settles for a field goal.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 1Q (5:28). Third-and-7 at the Detroit 34.Matched up one-on-one with 94 DL Solomon Thomas over his outside shoulder Quandre Diggs Jersey , Ragnow takes his initial two shuffle steps to the outside. Unfortunately, Thomas explodes off the snap across the guard’s face and makes a beeline for the A-gap. Stafford comes under immediate pressure and only a broken tackle by Riddick moves the chains.Going for a swimIt was remarkable how nearly all of the other really bad defeats for Ragnow in pass protection were at the hands of swim moves. There are so many examples that this article will just present three of them so we can actually get to the “good” tape against the Patriots.2018 Week 1 vs NYJ, 3Q (8:16). Third-and-1 at the Detroit 34.This is the pick-six interception play that really blew the “Monday Night Football” game open in the third quarter. Ragnow has Anderson one-on-one and bites on the jab step to the inside. With 68 LT Taylor Decker occupied by Copeland on the outside and 60 C Graham Glasgow tied up with the 1-tech, there is nobody left to assist once Anderson’s left arm is up and over.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 1Q (5:34). Second-and-7 at the Detroit 34.Matched up against 96 DL Sheldon Day angled on his left shoulder, Ragnow takes lateral steps to the outside to try and get better position. Similar to the inside rush we saw earlier by Thomas, Day takes advantage by going up and over with his right arm. Stafford is flushed from the pocket and prevented from setting his feet, resulting in a poor throw that hits the turf in front of 15 WR Golden Tate.2018 Week 2 at SFO, 2Q (0:49). First-and-10 at the Detroit 34.Near the end of the first half of the San Francisco game, the Lions had just under a minute on the clock and managed to eke out a field goal. The GIF above is from the first play of that drive Glover Quin Jersey , and shows Stafford taking an absolutely monster hit from 99 DL DeForest Buckner. The Niners overloaded the right side of their line, forcing the Lions to go one-on-one against Thomas (with Glasgow), Buckner (with Ragnow), and 54 DL Cassius Marsh off the edge (with Decker). The patient “one way go”In a way, pass blockers trying to guard against multiple rush lanes can be like defenders trying to guard against multiple routes; we sometimes hear about players like Theo Riddick running a two way go with the freedom to go inside or outside. One plan to defend that is to commit to taking one option away by positioning and simply challenge them on the other option. Back in 2014, then-defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said this: “We try to, based on our coverages, funnel a guy one way or the other, where we think the help might be. We try not to give him the two way go but sometimes it happens.”Instead of trying to move laterally and react to whichever way the opponent would go, it seemed like the plan for Ragnow against New England was to commit to getting a good base http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-ricky-jean-francois-jersey , focusing on hands and grip, then giving up a little ground to play it safe inside. Rather than facing straight up on rushers, he kept the middle clean by consistently walling off the interior approach and funneling his rusher to the outside.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (9:12). Second-and-10 at the New England 48.Here is a great example of what we are talking about: Ragnow is one-on-one with 90 DT Malcom Brown. An initial jab step at the snap by Brown tries to put some indecision into the head of the young guard, but he’s having none of it. Ragnow’s stance angle invites the defender to take the outside, and this gives the rookie a degree of control over the situation since he now gets to direct where the rusher is going. The protection is good, and Stafford rifles it down the field for a chunk gain of 18 yards to Tate.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (3:19). First-and-10 at the 50-yard line.A bit later in the first quarter at midfield, the Lions’ first-round pick is up against 70 DL Adam Butler. Ignoring a shoulder fake by Butler to the inside, Ragnow stays committed to protecting the inside Cheap Ziggy Ansah Jersey , letting 29 HB LeGarrette Blount pick up the delayed linebacker blitz.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 3Q (4:53). Second-and-17 at the Detroit 18.Armed with control and focus, at times it got pretty ridiculous. Here is Ragnow using a big man’s momentum against him, throwing the 320-pound Brown to the ground judo-style.2018 Week 3 vs NED, 1Q (4:53). First-and-10 at the Detroit 40.In this early play-action pass called in the first quarter, Ragnow steers Butler to the outside and rides him off into the sunset. Stafford is all alone in the pocket and able to toss an easy ball to Blount for 8 yards. As best as I can tell, the first time the Patriots attempted to force the issue to the inside one-on-one against Ragnow was with 71 DT Danny Shelton on the final play of the third quarter. That inside rush was picked up and walled off flawlessly, and the quick-hitting rub arrow to Tate on the perimeter went for 25 yards. Between the dominant run blocking and amazing consistency in pass protection, this was an outstanding job by the rookie and offensive line coach Jeff Davidson to fix the issues of the first two games.

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams preview podcast Well http://www.cardinalscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-ricky-seals-jones-jersey , that did not go as expected. Not only did the Arizona Cardinals announce their signing of David Johnson on a Saturday night, but they then were bludgeoned by the Washington Redskins in their first game of 2018 the next day. That caused the mood of this weeks Rise Up, See Red podcast to take a little bit of a turn from hopeful, to worried. Not surprisingly, Jess and I tried to find some positives out of the carnage and there was some, but we also searched for a beacon of hope in the season moving forward. It is a great hour, if not a little somber, but it will give you some things to look forward to this week against the Rams and for the rest of the season as a whole.Enjoy.(1:28) Initial reactions(2:07) David Johnson’s contract extension(11:12) The bad in the Cardinals’ loss(34:06) The good in the Cardinals’ loss(46:23) Should we change expectations for the Cardinals?(52:28) Looking ahead to the RamsListen to the latest from Cards Wire’s Jess Root and Revenge of the Birds’ Seth Cox on the Rise Up, See Red podcast. Humphries Jersey , 60 yards receivingWhile Arizona has struggled on offense, one player who’s received a lot of targets as a result is one Ricky Seals-Jones.Basically, in doing the math....Khalil Mack = Good at footballKhalil Mack + AZ’s offensive line + Scared Bradford = PressurePressure on Sam Bradford = Ricky Seals-Jones targetsExpect Seals-Jones to get looks in this game, and I even think that if Arizona either sees some success on offense or puts Josh Rosen in the game, he might even grab a score against Chicago’s safeties.Bears Start: Trey Burton, TE, 1 TD, 85 yards receivingThe Cardinals have a linebacker problem.Budda Baker will be covering a wide receiver likely on 3rd down. The Rams hit a few tight ends last week and Alex Smith hit Jordan Reed for a touchdown in Week One.Expect the Bears to come out and Trubisky to hit a scoring play to his favorite receiver so far this year.Cardinals Sit: Larry Fitzgerald, WR http://www.cardinalscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-andre-smith-jersey , 3 catches for 33 yardsCall me crazy, but I think there will be two things the Cardinals will come out and do this week. One: They’ll focus on getting the ball to David Johnson in the passing game. Two: They’ll work on running the football more (with David Johnson)Three: They’ll design ways to get the ball out of Bradford’s hand quickly to the tight ends or backs. That won’t be getting it to Larry Fitzgerald who’ll be in the slot down the field, and I do believe the Bears will try to take him out of the game and force AZ’s young outside corners to be the ones to beat them. That means that Fitzgerald might not be much of a factor if Bradford plays the whole time. Now if Josh Rosen takes over at some point (possible) then he will hold onto the ball longer, look deeper and Fitzgerald’s routes will probably mean he gets some throws his way. But until Rosen is in the game, it’s foolish to assume that’ll be the case.Bears Sit: Jordan Howard, RB 16 rushes for 55 yards, 0 TD’sSeems crazy to sit Howard a week after Todd Gurley scored three touchdowns, right? But looking at the rest of the stats, Gurley only gained 42 yards on the ground as Wilks’ defense clamped down on the run game.It was through the air they got burned.I’d guess that this is the week Tarik Cohen gets involved given how badly Chris Thompson abused the Cardinals in Week 1 and guess that AZ will sell out to stop the runSleeper: Jermaine Gresham http://www.cardinalscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-justin-pugh-jersey , TEIf Gresham plays, it’s unknown what his impact could be, but he’s a more reliable pass-catcher than Seals-Jones and might take over the TE1 role.Perhaps it’s him who Bradford starts looking to, and unlike Seals-Jones, Gresham was the 3rd overall in receiving yards for Arizona in 2016 and 2017 (behind David Johnson and Jaron Brown). He’s a solid, if unspectacular receiving threat and if he looks back to form, perhaps Sam Bradford looks his way just like he did back at Oklahoma all those years ago.You can follow @blakemurphy7 or ask fantasy questions on Twitter!

Friday open thread: Who needs to break out for the Lions against the 49ers? With the Week 1 embarrassment to the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football” firmly in the rearview Matthew Stafford Jersey , the Lions will pack their bags and head to San Francisco for an afternoon affair with the 49ers.Detroit’s offensive output last week was, well, offensive. Matthew Stafford played perhaps the worst game of his professional career, the offensive line wasn’t much better than it was in year’s past, and the supposedly re-tooled run game, yeah, 15 carries for a measly 39 yards. But hey, it’s all in past! Why are your eyes in the front of your head? To look forward. Keep looking forward...“Forward down the field...”Alright, let’s get right into today’s Question of the Day:Who needs to break out for the Lions against the 49ers?After playing just 16 total snaps, and totaling 37 yards on eight touches, rookie Kerryon Johnson needs to be more of a focal point of Detroit’s offensive game plan on Sunday. With veteran T.J. Lang looking less and less likely to play after missing his second straight practice on Thursday with an ailing back, it’s going to be an even more difficult task to expect this Lions offensive line to keep Stafford clean—let alone upright—against this 49ers pass rush.To take the pressure off of Stafford and the passing game, Jim Bob Cooter needs to get creative with his play calling Authentic Ziggy Ansah Jersey , which admittedly might be a tall task for a guy who was apparently having his offense read like a copy of Cat in the Hat last Monday night. And part of that creative has to stem from Kerryon Johnson, the player the Lions traded up in the second round to select in the 2018 NFL Draft. From the eye test alone, it’s clear Johnson is the team’s most explosive running back, capable of working hard for yardage and making an impact in all phases of the game from the running back position. It’s up for Cooter and the Lions coaching staff to give him the platform to break out and keep this Lions offense moving, and the 49ers pass rush wearing itself out on the field.Your turn.Tweets from https://twitter.com/PrideOfDetroit/lists/lions-coverage That’s a wrap—another Wildcard Weekend is in the books.Happy Monday, folks. Per usual, the weekend was sans Lions football but that’s fine I’m not great with change. You probably watched so I won’t recap too much, I just wanted to talk about football before it’s gone.We start with with Indianapolis Colts dominating the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon, 21-7. Both teams overcame losing records to start off the season, Texans at 0-3 and Colts at 1-5. That’s a typically comforting concept for hopeful Lions fans. The Colts came out strong Saturday, leading 21-0 in the first half and were able to hold onto that lead through the second. Touchdowns from Marlon Mack, Dontrelle Inman and some dude named Eric Ebron I guess, idk. Meanwhile Deshaun Watson had a disappointing playoff debut Youth Quandre Diggs Jersey , and the Texans offense was unable to find the end zone until about 11 minutes left in the game. The red-hot Colts will take on the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs at 4:35 p.m. Saturday.Moving on to the Dallas Cowboys against the Seattle Seahawks. The Cowboys walked away with the win, Jason Garrett clinching his second playoff win in eight seasons as head coach. But it was an ugly game.First of all, receiver Allen Hurns suffered a gut-wrenching injury in the first quarter that almost made me lose my Applebees. Almost, the spin-dip stayed down. Hurns was tackled by Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald, but as he struggled to stay on his feet, McDougald landed right on Hurns’ leg, twisting it in the most horrifying fashion. It was the type of injury that makes you scream “OHHHHH” at your TV, the type I’m not going to embed here but if you haven’t seen it, you’re going to go search for it on Twitter anyway because you’re SICK. Hurns broke his ankle and he’s out for the rest of the season, obviously, but says he expects to be back by the beginning of next season.Run, run, pass. Run http://www.lionsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-glover-quin-jersey , run, run. Run, run, run, pass. The Seahawks were hellbent on running the ball, despite not achieving any real success with the old school strategy. That forced Russell Wilson to spend the fourth quarter using his talents to drop absolute bombs like this beauty to Doug Baldwin:Then there was the crazy kicking situation—Sebastian Janikowski suffered a hamstring injury on a missed 57-yard field goal just before halftime. Instead of trusting rookie punter Michael Dickson to kick, the Seahawks went for two on the following two touchdowns. Both attempts were successful, but then the Seahawks decided to use Dickson for something a bit less successful—this, uh, beautiful “onside kick.”Dickson botched a rare drop kick, plopping the ball right into Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley’s hands. Game over. The Cowboys beat the Seahawks 24-22. The Cowboys will play the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. ET.SundayThat brings us to the Sunday afternoon game, the Los Angeles Charges against Baltimore Ravens in which Philip Rivers played his gosh darn h*cking hiney off, pardon my language. Speaking of PG-13 language:*clutches pearls* My heavens Marvin Jones Jr Jersey , my stars. If you need me, I’ll be cutting my hair and demanding to speak to Romo’s manager. On the other hand, Lamar Jackson did not have such a great game. The Ravens had a rough start—three fumbles in eight plays--and things didn’t get any better. In fact, they were so bad, that they’d wracked up an astonishing -2 passing yards. The officiating was real strange, making controversial calls on back-to-back plays, denying touchdowns left and right. It was almost as if the refs were unable to see...SEE WHAT I DID? TIMELY! I WATCH TV!There was hope for an exciting finish but with just 45 seconds left, the ball was stripped from Jackson’s hand. Chargers win, 23-17, and move on to face the New England Patriots at 1:05 p.m. Sunday. And finally, Philadelphia Eagles against the Chicago Bears. All that praying before their Nick Foles shrines paid off and Philly’s hope of back-to-back Super Bowl wins stays alive.I don’t have much to say about the game until of course, the last minute, when the Eagles are trailing by five Authentic Graham Glasgow Jersey , and Foles flings a pass into the end zone..............AND TO WHOM? GOLDEN TATE NO LESS klsjdkfljskljaskdjlasjlkajsd.Nah but for real, good for him. He deserves that feeling for all he did in Detroit. Then, the big talker of the weekend, you have Cody Parkey’s worst nightmare come true—a missed field goal to lose the game. Not only that, but a dreaded double-doink heard ‘round the world when the ball hit post and the crossbar. We later learned Eagles DT Treyvon Hester got a piece of it, and who knows how that would’ve affected it really, but take a look:Twitter reactions were just brutal, the poor guy. You generally have two schools of thought—it’s either the game shouldn’t be so close that a kicker makes all the difference, or he’s paid millions so he needs to do his job, no sympathy. Whichever school you belong to, or if it’s somewhere in the middle like myself, I think we can all agree Parkey’s response was gold when asked how he plans to carry on: “Continue to just put my best foot forward.”Ha. Foot. Forward. Ha. The Eagles move on to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday at 4:40 p.m.Not a bad Wildcard Weekend. Cheers.
