LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears are rolling into their first playoff appearance in eight years, with nine wins in 10 games and their sights set on a bigger prize after capturing the NFC North.“This is where it gets real,” coach Matt Nagy said Monday. From four straight last-place finishes to hosting a wild-card matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, it’s been quite a transformation for the Bears over the past 12 months. A busy offseason that started with former coach John Fox getting fired and ended with the blockbuster trade for Khalil Mack has paid off in a big way. Now, it seems anything is possible. But as far as Nagy is concerned, it’s business as usual this week.“Don’t stay up later at night just because it’s the playoffs,” he said. “Why? Just do the normal stuff that you’ve been doing. It’s been working. Why do you need to change it now, because it’s the playoffs? No, just continue to do what you do.”What the Bears (12-4) are doing seems to be working quite well. They more than doubled their win total after going 5-11 a year ago while posting their best regular-season record since the 2006 team went 13-3 and reached the Super Bowl. The Bears refused to let up in a 24-10 victory at Minnesota that knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs. They went with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky the whole way and only held out previously injured starters. With Philadelphia also beating Washington, the Eagles claimed the final wild card over the Vikings. That sets up a playoff matchup with no shortage of story lines White Gale Sayers Jerseys , starting with Nagy going against his friend Doug Pederson. The two worked together under Andy Reid in Philadelphia and Kansas City.Trubisky will be making his first playoff appearance, and there will be brothers on opposite sides — Bears guard Kyle Long and Eagles defensive end Chris Long.“I’m happy for both of us and proud of him,” Kyle Long said Sunday, after returning from a right foot injury that caused him to miss eight games. “They’ve had a tough start and they’ve battled back and they have an incredibly talented team, so it’s going to be a tough game at home.”It’s been a tough road back to the playoffs for Chicago. The drought cost three coaches their jobs and led to shrinking crowds as fans’ frustration mounted. Chicago is making its first playoff appearance since the 2010 season, when it won the division and lost to Green Bay in the NFC title game. The Bears fired Lovie Smith after going 10-6 in 2012 and continued to unravel from there. Marc Trestman lasted two seasons. Fox was let go after three seasons with a 14-34 record, a .292 winning percentage that ranked as the second-lowest in franchise history. But look at the Bears now.A team that started the season by blowing a 20-point lead against an injured Aaron Rodgers in a loss at Green Bay has its sights set on a Super Bowl run.The Bears gave up a league-low 17.7 points per game during the regular season and ranked third in total defense. No team forced as many turnovers (36) or intercepted as many passes (27). And though the offense has been inconsistent in Nagy’s first year, there has been growth, particularly from Trubisky. He has a 109.7 rating over the past three games, completing just under 76 percent of his passes for three touchdowns without an interception.“I am very proud of this team,” Trubisky said. “This was a big turnaround from last year, being in the same locker room with these guys but having a whole different feeling. … Looking back Gale Sayers Jerseys 2019 , we have got 12 wins and we are playing at home in the playoffs, and we are excited for this next opportunity. If we keep doing what we are doing, hopefully we can do something special and keep rolling.”NOTES: Nagy said he hopes Long can play the entire game after being in for 27 snaps on Sunday. … Nagy sounded optimistic WR Allen Robinson (ribs), S Eddie Jackson (ankle) and LB Aaron Lynch (elbow) will be available after missing the Minnesota game. “I’m hoping they’re all ready to go,” he said. … Nagy also downplayed the left shoulder injury WR Anthony Miller suffered against the Vikings, saying there’s “nothing significant there.” WR Taylor Gabriel also hurt his ribs, and DE Roy Robertson-Harris had “a little whiplash from enemy fire,” Nagy said.

away. For the second straight week White Junior Seau Jerseys , the Steelers held a second-half lead and lost. This time, Pittsburgh blew its biggest lead ever at home, as Michael Badgley kicked a 29-yard field goal on the final play, lifting the Los Angeles Chargers to a 33-30 victory over the Steelers on Sunday night.“It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish, and they finished the game,” Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward said. The Steelers (7-4-1) were on a six-game winning streak before losing last week at Denver and again on Sunday. It’s their first two-game losing streak of the season. The Steelers, who held a 23-7 lead to start the second half, blew a 16-point lead at home for the first time in franchise history. The Steelers were previously 174-0-1 all-time when ahead by 16 points at home. It was the first time the Steelers blew a 16-point lead overall since Nov. 8, 1981, against Seattle.“The game was 23-7 and as a defense, we can’t surrender points,” Heyward said. “We just gotta play better. I don’t care who it is Junior Seau Jerseys 2019 , it’s unacceptable.”Ben Roethlisberger threw for 281 yards and two scores for the Steelers, who are clinging to the AFC North lead over surging Baltimore. Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for a season-high 154 yards and a touchdown. James Conner added 60 yards rushing and two touchdowns before leaving in the fourth quarter with a lower leg contusion.“It’s a bad loss,” Roethlisberger said. “You just can’t play bad football against a good football team.”Things looked good in the first half when Pittsburgh scored on four of six possessions. Conner scored on a pair of 1-yard runs, giving the Steelers an early 13-0 lead following a missed extra point. The Steelers, who won four of the previous five meetings against Los Angeles, continued to surge, and pushed the lead to 16-6.Pittsburgh, which came into the game 18-3 in December since 2013 – the best mark in the NFL over that span – seemed poised for another masterful December performance with an end-of-half score, nearly driving the length of the field in just 1:18. Roethlisberger capped the six-play, 91-yard series by threading a 28-yard touchdown pass between three defenders to Brown for the score. But, Philip Rivers and Los Angeles recovered in the second half.Rivers completed 26 of 36 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns. Keenan Allen caught 14 passes for 148 yards and a score, while Justin Jackson ran for 63 yards and a touchdown in place of injured starter Melvin Gordon. Pittsburgh limited Los Angeles to just two yards rushing in the first half, tying the third-fewest allowed by the Steelers since Heinz Field opened in 2001.“We just didn’t tackle better in the second half White Lance Alworth Jerseys ,” Heyward said. “We didn’t stop the run as much. We have to be better as a defense.”Los Angeles opened the second half with 23 unanswered points, turning a 23-7 halftime deficit into a 30-23 lead.Allen caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rivers late in the third quarter on a play in which Pittsburgh defensive backs Sean Davis and Joe Haden collided going for the ball, which popped up in the air and landed squarely in Allen’s hands.Desmond King added a 73-yard punt return, and Allen pulled in the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 23. Jackson’s 18-yard burst up the middle gave the Chargers a 30-23 lead.Rookie Jaylen Samuels replaced Conner and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass for Pittsburgh with 4:10 to play to tie the game at 30. That left Rivers ample time to one-up Roethlisberger, a fellow member of the vaunted 2004 draft class that includes New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.Rivers calmly led the Chargers 64 yards in 11 plays, including a 12-yard pass to Allen on third-and-4 at the Pittsburgh 34 that pushed Los Angeles close enough to bring on Badgley for the win.Badgley initially missed a 39-yard kick, but Pittsburgh was called for offsides.“It looked like all of us jumped off at the same time,” Haden said. “Sometimes when you get a good jump, it looks like you jumped offsides. I would have to look at it again, but I didn’t feel like we were offsides.”Badgley’s ensuing 34-yard attempt was blocked, but the Steelers were flagged again for jumping across the line of scrimmage before the snap. Badgley drilled his third attempt at the game-winner, as the Chargers completed the biggest opposing comeback in Heinz Field history with just their fourth win in Pittsburgh in 19 tries.“You can’t say anything about our offense, our offense put up 30 points Lance Alworth Jerseys 2019 ,” Heyward said. “We didn’t get the job done as a defense.”LaDainian Tomlinson: Chargers GOAT and King of Records Continuing with our theme of “records” this week, we can’t go without talking about LaDainian Tomlinson. LT is one of the best, if not THE best Charger ever. And his stats back that up completely. Tomlinson retired after the 2011 season and he still owns 58 NFL records (18 of which he is tied with at least 1 other player for 1st). There are probably more for things that aren’t officially tracked feats (like the fact that he is still the only player in NFL history to have 100 receptions and 1000+ rushing yards in the same season), but to still own 58 League records 7 years after your retirement is amazing. So what are these records? Here’s the whole list:Most single season touchdowns (31 in 2006; previously 28 in 2005 by Shaun Alexander)Most single season rushing touchdowns (28 in 2006; previously 27 in 2003 by Priest Holmes, 2005 by Shaun Alexander.)Most points scored in a single season (186 in 2006, previously 176 in 1960 by Paul Hornung.)Most points scored in a single calendar month (78 in Nov 2006, previously 77 in Oct 1961 by Paul Hornung.)Most touchdowns scored in a five-game stretch (15 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in a six-game stretch (19 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in first 10 games of season (22 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in first 12 games of season (26 in 2006)Most touchdowns scored in a single calendar month (13 in Nov 2006, previously 12 in Oct 1958 by Jim Brown.)Most games with 2+ rushing touchdowns (38).Most games with 3+ rushing touchdowns (12; prev. 10 by Jim Brown)Most games with 200+ yards from scrimmage in a season (5 in 2003)Most games with 18 or more points in a season (6 in 2006)Most games with 16 or more points in a season (6 in 2006; with Paul Hornung in 1960)Most games with 14 or more points in a season (6 in 2006; with Don Hutson in 1942 and Paul Hornung in 1960)Most games with 12 or more points in a season (10 in 2006; with Priest Holmes in 2003)Most games with 10 or more points in a season (10 in 2006; tied with several players)Most games with 2 or more touchdowns in season (10) in 2006 – tied with Priest Holmes, 2003Most games with 3 or more touchdowns in season (6) in 2006Most games with 3 or more rushing touchdowns in a season (5 in 2006)Most games with 4 touchdowns in a season (3) in 2006Most consecutive games with a rushing touchdown (14)Most consecutive games with 2+ rushing touchdowns (8) in 2006Most consecutive games with 3+ rushing touchdowns (3) in 2006Most consecutive games with a touchdown (18) 2004–2005 – tied with Lenny Moore, 1963–1965Most consecutive games with multiple touchdowns (8) in 2006Most consecutive games with 3+ touchdowns (4) in 2006Most consecutive games with 4+ touchdowns: (2) in 2006 – tied with Marshall Faulk in 2000 and Jim Taylor in 1962Most consecutive seasons with 1,200+ or more yards rushing (7 from 2001–2007 with Eric Dickerson)Most consecutive seasons with 1,300+ or more yards rushing (6 from 2002–2007)Most consecutive seasons with 1,500+ yards from scrimmage (8 from 2001–2008)Most consecutive seasons with 5+ rushing touchdowns (10 from 2001–2010 White LaDainian Tomlinson Jerseys , with Marshall Faulk)Most consecutive seasons with 6+ rushing touchdowns (10 from 2001–2010, with Marshall Faulk)Most consecutive seasons with 7+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009; with Jim Brown)Most consecutive seasons with 8+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 9+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 10+ rushing touchdowns (9 from 2001–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 11+ rushing touchdowns (8 from 2002–2009)Most consecutive seasons with 12+ rushing touchdowns (6 from 2002–2007)Most consecutive seasons with 13+ rushing touchdowns (6 from 2002–2007)Most consecutive seasons with 14+ touchdowns (6) 2002–2007Most consecutive seasons with 15+ touchdowns (6) 2002–2007Most consecutive seasons with 16+ touchdowns (5) 2003–2007 – tied with Shaun Alexander 2001–2005Most seasons with 10+ rushing touchdowns (9) 2001–2009Most seasons with 11+ rushing touchdowns (8) 2002–2009 – tied with Emmitt Smith 1990–1996, 1998–1999.Most seasons with 12+ rushing touchdowns (7) 2002–2007, 2009Most seasons with 13+ rushing touchdowns (6) 2002–2007Most seasons with 14+ rushing touchdowns (5) 2002, 2004–2007 – tied with Shaun Alexander, 2001–2005Most seasons with 15+ rushing touchdowns (4) 2004–2007Most seasons with 17+ rushing touchdowns (3) 2004–2006 – tied with Emmitt Smith 1992, 1994–1995Most seasons with 17+ touchdowns (5) 2003–2007Most seasons with 18+ touchdowns (4) 2004–2007Most seasons with 20+ touchdowns (2) 2005–2006 – tied with 4 other playersFastest player to gain 9,000 yards from scrimmage (72 GP) – tied with Edgerrin JamesFastest player to gain 12,000 yards from scrimmage (95 GP) – tied with Edgerrin JamesFastest player to gain 13,000 yards from scrimmage (104 GP)Fastest player to gain 14,000 yards from scrimmage (111 GP)Fastest player to gain 15,000 yards from scrimmage (121 GP)Not surprisingly, LT has a TON of records around touchdowns and scoring. Those of us around for LT’s reign may not have realized at the time just how lucky we were to have him playing for our favorite team. Opposing teams literally couldn’t keep him out of the endzone LaDainian Tomlinson Jerseys 2019 , and not just during his record breaking MVP season. He had 6 straight seasons of 15+ rushing TDs. To put that in perspective, since he has retired (2012 season until now), only 4 RBs have even scored 15 rushing TDs in a season, and none of them have done it more than once, let alone consecutively. His pace gaining yards from scrimmage is also mind blowing. Just look at those last few lines. It only took him 23 games to gain the 3000 yards from 9k to 12k career yards. Then only 9 more games for the next thousand, then only 7 more games for the next thousand. Just a crazy, crazy pace. With the current state of the NFL, specifically NFL offenses, I think most of these records will stand the test of time. * *Graphic language above* With so many to choose from, what is your favorite LT record?

Before we get to this weeks content, lets take a quick look back to last week:Pick of the Week: Patrick Mahomes as a sleeper for the second straight week. (49.84 standard points, 1st among QBs)For the second week in a row the young quarterback stole the show. Something tells me he won’t ever be a sleeper candidate for much longer, however.Fail of the Week: George Kittle (2.2 standard points, t-34th among WRs)Kittle took my kind words and stamp of approval last week and turned them into 22 yards on 2 catches. Yikes.Year to Date Accuracy:Week 2 Accuracy: 4 of 12 correct (33.3%)Season Accuracy: 9 of 24 correct (37.5%) Not my best work in week 2 Clayton Thorson Jersey 2019 , but hey, that’s what week 3 is for right?Stud: A highly favored fantasy player who will finish the week in the top 6 at his position.QB Tom Brady, NEThrough 2 games, Brady has averaged about 21.5 points against two pretty tough defenses. This week he travels to Detroit where the hopeless Lions will struggle to contain him.RB Todd Gurley, LARGurley has a tough match up against the Chargers who have held running backs to less than 4 yards per carry, but given the volume of carries he has been getting, Gurley is a safe bet to get 20 or more points in most formats.TE Zach Ertz, PHIErtz is getting not only his buddy Carson Wentz back, but has a tasty match up against the Colts at home. After a rough start to the year, Ertz is ready to explode and finish as one of the top Tight Ends this week.Dud: A highly started player who will finish the week as a non-starter.QB Russell Wilson, SEAThe Seahawks look like a shell of their Super Bowl Champion selves and this includes Russell Wilson. In week 3, Wilson, who was dealing with a problematic Hamstring earlier in the week, will take on the Dallas Cowboys, who have been hogging the ball on offense and shutting down opposing passing games on defense. Avoid Russ this week if you can.WR Larry Fitzgerald, ARZNot only is Fitzgerald still listed as questionable, but he has had one of the worst starts to a season he’s ever seen. With just 10 catches for 104 yards and zero touchdowns through two games, look elsewhere for a wide receiver. RB Jay Ajayi, PHIAjayi will have big games this season, but given the unpredictability of Doug Pederson’s offense, I’m hesitant to rely on him. He’d make a fine FLEX play but if you’re banking on him to outscore your opponent Cheap Clayton Thorson Jersey , you could be in over your head.Sleeper:A player who is not started often but will finish the week as a starter.QB Patrick Mahomes, KCAs of this writing, Mahomes is started in only 73% of yahoo leagues. If he is on your team, you better start him over just about any other quarterback at this point until he cools off.TE George Kittle, SFAfter being one of my studs of the week for week 2 and playing like garbage, many fantasy managers, understandably, have benched Kittle. I advice you refrain from overreacting here and keep him on your starting line up. Kittle will also be an excellent DFS option this week given the lack of trust in him right now.D/ST Baltimore RavensAfter decimating Buffalo in week 1, the Ravens traveled to Cincinnati where they allowed the Bengals to put up 34 points. This week should be somewhere in middle of those two outcomes.Bust:A highly ranked player who will finish the week as a non starter.QB Jimmy Garoppolo, SFJimmy G-Sus is traveling to KC where he’ll face Patrick Mahomes and the smokin’ hot Chiefs.Garoppolo has yet to top 15 points in a single game through two weeks, and yet he is still rated within the top 6 on most sites. While the Chiefs have allowed a lot of passing yards so far, they won’t be that porous forever. I’d be hesitant to follow the pack regarding Jimmy G if I were you.RB David Johnson, ARZThe Cardinals are kind of like, I’m going to say it, the 2018 Browns. I don’t want anything to do with any of them, including super star running back David Johnson. I especially don’t want anything to do with them when Khalil Mack is in the conversation.K Jake Elliott, PHIElliott has been a let down through two weeks. I have personally demoted him from “I trust you like David Akers” status to a temporary wait-and-see approach. Hopefully the addition of Jordan Matthews Carson Wentz will bring Elliott back to live. Maybe Carson needs to put a game check on it, or something. As always, I cannot cover every situation in one article so please get at me on twitter (@LeeSifford) or in the comments below with your specific roster questions and I’d be glad to offer my thoughts on your situation.

Donte Moncrief Jersey , a move most expected after a disappointing 2018 NFL season. Releasing Bortles saves the Jaguars $4.5 million in salary cap space..."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Jaguars Free Agency 2016Jaguars Film RoomNFL DraftJaguars Injury NewsLatest NewsJaguars release Blake BortlesNew,142commentsEDTShareTweetShareShareJaguars release Blake BortlesDouglas DeFelice-USA TODAY SportsThe Jacksonville Jaguars have released quarterback Blake Bortles, a move most expected after a disappointing 2018 NFL season. Releasing Bortles saves the Jaguars $4.5 million in salary cap space with a dead money hit of $16.5 million. While it has not been announced how the cut is being applied just yet, the team can designate Bortles a post-June 1 cut, splitting his dead money between 2019 and 2020, moving the total cap savings to $9.5 million. As mentioned, the move was expected by quite a few this offseason, despite the fact that Bortles was fresh off a new deal last offseason. Following a 2017 NFL season that had the Jaguars on the door step of the Super Bowl, the team gave Bortles a new deal in the hopes that the light had finally come on. Despite a quick start to the 2018 season, the wheels seemed to come off against the Kansas City Chiefs and never got right thanks to massive injury hits on the offensive side of the ball. Bortles was benched mid-season in favor of Cody Kessler, who didn’t fair any better http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.j.-bouye-jersey , and it became clear the Jaguars were going to be moving on.Bortles was given one last start in the final game of the season and predictably it ended in disaster. He finished the 2018 season with 13 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions, more in line with what his numbers had been through his career outside of 2015. The Jacksonville Jaguars are sticking with Blake Bortles as their starting quarterback.Coach Doug Marrone made the announcement Monday, one day after benching Bortles early in the third quarter of a 20-7 loss to Houston.“I spoke to both quarterbacks this afternoon and told them Blake will be our team’s starting quarterback,” Marrone said in a statement. “I believe this gives us the best opportunity to win.”More Jacksonville Jaguars newsJaguars expect DE Yannick Ngakoue’s holdout to be short-livedJaguars rookie safety Zedrick Woods submits retirement paperworkJalen Ramsey says Jaguars don’t plan to give him contract extension this seasonJaguars sign former UCF running back Taj McGowan for added depthJaguars QB Nick Foles to miss OTAs for undisclosed ‘personal reason’Bortles fumbled on Jacksonville’s third play in each half, leading to 10 points for the Texans and prompting Marrone to switch to Cody Kessler. Marrone said after the game he would open up the QB job for the second time in as many years. He also benched Bortles in the 2017 preseason, only to give him back the job nine days later.Marrone took less than 24 hours to go back to Bortles this time, saying he will start Sunday’s game against Philadelphia (3-4) in London. The Jaguars (3-4) have lost three in a row and four of five, derailing a season that started with Super Bowl aspirations.Jacksonville seemingly reached a low point Sunday when the locker room erupted in fiery emotion following a third consecutive lopsided loss in which the offense failed to score in the first half. Calais Campbell was seen holding back fellow defensive end Yannick Ngakoue when the locker room briefly opened to the media. It was the final scene of frustration that also included screaming, shouting and finger pointing.Campbell, an 11-year veteran and one of six team captains, called a players-only meetings Monday to “talk about some issues.”“Will it help?” defensive tackle Malik Jackson said. “Hopefully so. Hopefully guys will speak up and not be silent Womens Leonard Fournette Jersey , hopefully talk about some issues that they feel are bothering them.”The Jaguars have been mostly inept on both sides of the ball during the losing streak, trailing 23-0 at Kansas City, 24-0 at Dallas and 20-0 at home against the Texans. The injury-riddled offense can’t do what it’s built to do — run the football — and has a lackluster receiving corps dropping balls at inopportune times. The high-profile defense can’t stop the run and has allowed too many big plays.“People are strained,” Jackson said. “This is a business about producing, about winning, and we’re not producing or winning right now. This locker room is not going to tear apart for a few losses. Hell, we went 3-13 our first year here.”The expectations were much higher after advancing to the AFC title game in January, which is why the locker room started to crack and crumble.“You can’t have little groups or little indecision of what is the right way or the proper way. You have to get everyone in the same boat,” Marrone said, pointing out the team is minus-12 in turnover differential. “We have done this to ourselves, and the only people going to be able to dig us out of it is ourselves. But we all have to have the same vision on how to do it.“My thing to the team is we can go in all of these different directions Barry Church Jersey , but if these two things do not change, those two things do not change, those directions aren’t going to matter.”Bortles was the scapegoat Sunday, with Marrone making the move to “put everyone on notice.”Bortles completed 6 of 12 passes for 61 yards, fumbling twice on third-down scrambles.Kessler came off the bench and had a short touchdown pass to T.J. Yeldon, but he was sacked four times in five drives, plus threw an interception and fumbled. It’s really not that surprising Marrone stuck with Bortles. The team signed him to a three-year, $54 million contract in February with the belief he was good enough to lead the defensive-minded team back to the playoffs.Bortles played turnover-free football in the postseason, gaining top executive Tom Coughlin’s confidence and landing the new contract. He’s played with far less efficiency lately, managing two TD passes and eight turnovers in the three straight losses.NOTES: The Jaguars released veteran running back Jamaal Charles three days after acquiring Carlos Hyde from Cleveland. Hyde is expected to play a significant role against the Eagles. … Marrone said injured RB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) will travel to London.

of the Week It was a relentless offensive onslaught from the get-go for Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky this past Sunday against the Buccaneers Josh Bellamy Jerseys Stitched , and he’s been appropriately recognized for his efforts. After going 19-of-26 for 354 yards, six touchdowns, including five in the first half (a Bears’ record), and enjoying a 154.6 passer rating, Trubisky has been named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week for Week 4. He also added 53 yards on the ground on three carries. A well-deserved honor for the 24-year-old second-year quarterback all things considered. Trubisky’s long-awaited first breakout performance beat out Los Angeles Rams third-year star Jared Goff’s five passing touchdowns and 465 yards against the Vikings, as well as the Colts’ Andrew Luck’s 464 yards and four scores inflicted on the Texans. Thanks to Trubisky’s performance, $2,000 will given to the USO in Trubisky’s name. It’s going to be difficult for Trubisky to maintain the torrid play he enjoyed against Tampa Bay. It’s not every week you get to set records, after all. But at least the young passer has a baseline of consistency to work from now, and has proven generally capable of leading Chicago forward. Robert is the Editor-in-chief of The Blitz Network (subscribe here!) Youth Mike Ditka Jerseys , the managing editor of Windy City Gridiron, and writes for a host of other fine publications. You can follow him on Twitter @RobertZeglinski. BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears‘ offense hasn’t progressed to a point where it can consistently beat the defense at practice. Then again, few teams could.“I mean, I don’t think a defense has existed like this,” offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said Friday after practice.Players and coaches look ahead to when they’re game-planning opponents instead of going against their own first-team defense, all while downplaying an early lack of rhythm in their passing game between receivers and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.“He’s not where we want him to be yet,” second-year coach Matt Nagy said about Trubisky. “He knows that. I think right now, the best part for us is we’re getting a lot of different looks (from the defense), and we’re moving people around in different spots.“And we’re just watching him grow. He’s leaps and bounds further than he was last year.”At Friday’s practice Mike Ditka Jerseys Stitched , safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix took advantage of his first meaningful scrimmage time by picking off Trubisky’s throw to Allen Robinson in the end zone. Linebacker Danny Trevathan also picked off a deflected Trubisky pass. Earlier in the week, Khalil Mack’s pass rush led to an interception.“I’m looking at mistakes and I’m looking at areas I’ve grown in, and then when we have a mistake on the field, make sure I’m talking to my guys and make sure we’re fixing it,” Trubisky said earlier in the week.Trubisky said he is realistic as he tries to lead the Bears back from a 21st ranking both in offense and passing offense.“Just continue to criticize myself and try to be a perfectionist, but I see the growth as well,” Trubisky said. “It’s practice. You’re going to make mistakes. They’re meant to be made, but you’ve got to come back and correct them and get better each day.”Trubisky’s deep passing has been spotty, in particular.“Deep ball right now … they’re probably not (completing) as much as last year, just because right now we feel pretty good with knowing we can do that Youth Marcus Cooper Jerseys ,” Nagy said. “We’ll keep it going. And that stuff is going to come. He knows how we do things. He knows our mentality of touchdown-to-checkdown. So I’m not really concerned with that.”Nagy said the individual pass isn’t as important as Trubisky’s reaction.“You’re never going to have great practices all the time,” Nagy said. “If there really was a practice that was just OK, when it’s kind of choppy, what I’m looking for is how does he handle that situation? Does he mope? Does he put his head down? Or does he freaking get ready for the next play and get ready to roll?”Frustration hasn’t set in yet, according to second-year wide receiver Anthony Miller.“You’ve gotta remember, Mitch, he’s young just like us,” Miller said. “He came into this brand-new offense just like us and I know it’s gotta be very different for a quarterback. That’s the hardest position on the field, in my opinion, because you have to know the play each and everybody is doing.“We’re just following Mitch with whatever his plan is Marcus Cooper Jerseys Stitched , we’re following.”The Bears anticipate the offense can take shape when all components have been worked through at camp, but the running attack is still being blended with the pass.Rookie running back David Montgomery and veteran Mike Davis on Friday got their first real rushes against live tackling for an extended period. The same problem afflicted the rushing attack as the passing game — inconsistency.Montgomery broke several tackles on one hard-charging run late in practice, but earlier the first-team offense was beaten by the second-team defense for a safety on a running play.Pressure from the first-team defense has been as rough overall on run blocking, but Helfrich called it understandable considering the opponent.“Sometimes when you draw up the play and you have the “O” blocking the “X,” and the “X” is Khalil Mack, that’s a bad matchup for a lot of Os,” Helfrich said.NOTESRookie guard Alex Bars from Notre Dame suffered a knee contusion and left practice on a cart, but Nagy doubted the injury was serious. … Tight end Adam Shaheen worked extensively with the offense a second day after missing several days with back pain. … Rookie receiver Riley Ridley remains out after suffering a hamstring injury in the first practice July 26.

Before this season White Mike Pouncey Jerseys , receiving yards in the year he turned 38 or older. This season, two tight ends have done so.Antonio Gates, the Chargers’ 38-year-old tight end, has 312 receiving yards this season. And Saints tight end Benjamin Watson, who will turn 38 next week, has 337 receiving yards this season. They’re the two oldest tight ends in NFL history to top the 300-yard mark in a season.Only 10 times in NFL history has a player had 300 or more receiving yards in the year he turned 38 or older. Five of those 10 times, that player was Jerry Rice. Hall of Fame receiver Charlie Joiner did it twice, Irving Fryar did it once, and now Watson and Gates have become the ninth and 10th players, and first and second tight ends, to do it.Gates and Watson have had long and successful NFL careers, and both have said they’re considering retiring after this season. It’s possible they could play their last game on the same field Mike Pouncey Jerseys 2019 , and meet in the Super Bowl. PITTSBURGH (AP) — On the surface they’re identical. Below the surface too. Large. Loud. Remarkably athletic and remarkably close. Well compensated and well tattooed.Still, Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey believes there is one surefire way to tell him and Los Angeles Chargers center (and very slightly older brother) Mike apart on Sunday night when the Chargers visit Heinz Field.Just have the twins switch places at halftime and let Maurkice snap the ball to Los Angeles quarterback Philip Rivers for a quarter or two. Then the differences between the Pounceys will be unmistakable.“I’ll take that team to the next level baby,” Maurkice Pouncey said, voice dripping with sarcasm. “They’ll definitely notice.”Maurkice is kidding. Mostly, though he does have a slight edge over Mike in Pro Bowl selections (six to three). The 29-year-olds are well aware of the unique opportunity playing against each other offers. Separated by a minute at birth, the Pounceys were virtually inseparable growing up until Maurkice left the University of Florida for the NFL in 2010.They’ve spent their professional lives rooting for each other from afar — Sunday is only the fifth time they’ll be together in the same NFL stadium — and both feared Mike’s career might be in jeopardy after a hip injury limited him to five games with the Miami Dolphins in 2016.“It was a point that we both thought that and it was tough,” Maurkice said. “Lord willing, a lot of hard work, and the doctors did a great job. Obviously he’s playing at a high level and he’s been blessed to be out there.”Mike returned to play a full 16 games last season, but found himself looking for work after the Dolphins cut him in a salary cap move in March. The Chargers sprinted to scoop him up, bringing him to the West Coast on a two-year, $15 million deal just four days after getting released. The change of scenery provided Mike Pouncey with a mid-career jolt White Isaac Rochell Jerseys , and his presence has played a significant role in the Chargers’ hot 8-3 start.“We knew it was a big signing when we signed him,” Los Angeles coach Anthony Lynn said. “But it’s even better than what I thought.”Asked what the Mike Pouncey experience is like, Lynn laughed.“I’m pretty sure it’s similar to what you guys have in Pittsburgh,” he said.Translation: a lot of jokes. A lot of trash talk. And a relentless work ethic that belies their copious amounts of swagger.“He’s the same player as me,” Mike Pouncey said. “He’s going to go out there and give you everything he has on each play. (My teammates) more excited (than I am) because we have a real good friendship on this team, and they go out there and talk smack to my brother to make me feel a little bit better. It’s going to be fun.”The entire Pouncey clan will descend on Maurkice’s house in the Pittsburgh suburbs on Saturday. As for split allegiances, Maurkice’s offer to host came with one very simple directive: If you root for the Steelers, you can crash at his place. If not? You’re on your own.How tight are they? Maurkice admits Mike might be the only person in the world outside of his children he actually calls on the phone rather than just texting. It’s the same for Derek and T.J. Watt, though the two brothers — T.J. is a second-year linebacker for the Steelers, Derek is in his third season as a fullback for the Chargers — won’t have the luxury of standing on the sideline watching the other play like the Pounceys do.There’s a very real chance that T.J. and Derek will find themselves on a collision course sometime Sunday night, the first time that’s ever happened somewhere other than the family backyard or the random University of Wisconsin football practice when both were playing for the Badgers. Not that T.J. believes there’s going to be time to think about bragging rights. If his assignment on a play is to ram into the guy wearing No. 34, then that’s what he’s going to do.“It’s a football game to me Isaac Rochell Jerseys 2019 ,” T.J. said. “I don’t think anything is going to really change. I don’t think in that split second you can determine who’s who and what’s what, so whatever happens, happens.”Older brother J.J., the star defensive end for the Houston Texans, hopes they are forced to ram into each other at least once so “we can settle it once and for all.” Provided, of course, there’s no cheating on either side.“I basically just said, no cut-blocks,” J.J. said. “That’s the only thing. Just don’t go at his knees. Otherwise, everything’s fair.”Though Derek, 26, lacks the star power of his older or his younger brother — both of whom were first-round picks while the Chargers selected Derek in the sixth round in 2016 — T.J. White Darius Philon Jerseys , 24, might know better than anyone on the planet that you overlook the middle Watt brother at your own risk.“He may not get all the publicity that J.J. and I get, but Derek’s been in the NFL, this is his third year,” T.J. said. “I don’t see many people in America doing that. I don’t see many people in the world doing that. He’s playing at the highest level. He’s a starting fullback for an NFL team; I think that’s pretty damn cool.”Connie and John Watt will watch their boys go at it from the stands, trying to stay as neutral as possible. They might want to get used to it. All three Watt brothers are on teams heading to the postseason, meaning more family showdowns loom.“I hope the game, I don’t know, I guess ends in a tie,” J.J. Watt said. “I guess that’s probably the best thing for everybody. It’s probably good for (the Texans) too.”

has been denied Black Landry Jones Jerseys , meaning he will sit out Sunday’s game against Indianapolis. The Jacksonville Jaguars running back was suspended without pay for leaving the sideline, running across the field and punching Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson. Fournette appealed, but retired NFL receiver James Thrash affirmed the one-game punishment that will cost Fournette close to $100,000.The NFL and NFL Players’ Association appointed Thrash to decide appeals of on-field player discipline.NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan handed down the penalty Monday, saying “sportsmanship is the cornerstone of the game and the league will not tolerate game-related misconduct that conveys a lack of respect for the game itself and those involved in it.”Fournette and Lawson were ejected in the third quarter of Buffalo’s 24-21 victory and continued jawing at each other as they exited the field and entered the tunnel to the locker rooms.Fournette will be eligible to return to the team’s active roster Monday. “It’s easy to see when a team has quit. That’s the pride we’re going to uphold. We’re not a quitting team.”The quote above is from Abry Jones earlier in the week Landry Jones Jerseys 2019 , reflecting on a disappointing season while still in the middle of said disappointing season. There are still seven games to go and already the playoffs are an unrealistic possibility. We are 10 months removed from the doorstep of the Super Bowl and we’re nearly eliminated from playoff contention in November. Most recently, the Jaguars have looked... not themselves. Blown coverages, not knowing how to get out of a huddle, absent-minded play calling, and late-night incidents at nightclubs have peppered the last few weeks. The team is trending downward hard and the question of “quitting” has made its way into the conversation.Coaches Black Cedric Ogbuehi Jerseys , front offices, players — none of them will tell you during the season that there is any quit in the locker room. They’re playing for pride, or professionalism, or their jobs next season. But these players aren’t machines. When the prospect of the playoffs is taken away, it can be easy to take it a little easier on the practice field or leave the film room a little earlier than you would have otherwise. What do you think? With the playoffs out of the picture Cedric Ogbuehi Jerseys 2019 , do you think this team has started to quit? Let us know in the comments below.

White Eddie Jackson Jerseys , right?" The Bears DenNotesXs and OsSuperfansMitchell’s Way Too Early 53 Man & Practice Squad PredictionsNew,52commentsIt’s never to early to guess about the 2019 roster, right? CDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:Mitchell’s Way Too Early 53 Man & Practice Squad PredictionsTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailPhoto by Jonathan Daniel/Getty ImagesI was sitting here looking through the 2019 Bears roster and thinking about a few hard cuts that are going to be coming when it’s time to move down to our season-opening 53-man roster. Unlike many years in the recent past, we are going to let some good players walk (or work last-minute trades) come cut-down time. Obviously, it’s way too early to tell how the rookies are going to show, but since when has facts like that ever stopped a guy like me from making some wild guesses on the internet? So here’s my first guess at our 53-man roster on cut-down day, barring injuries. Of course, our other Windy City Gridiron writers will be making their own predictions over the next couple of months, so stay tuned for those as well!OffenseWide Receivers: Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Riley Ridley, Cordarrelle Patterson, Javon Wims, Emanuel Hall on IR - 7The wide-receiver room is absolutely stacked, and usually I would say we would keep no more than 6... but with Cordarrelle Patterson we have a guy that’s as much of a returner and a runner as somebody who catches the ball, I give this group an extra slot. I think the two low-end guys, Wims & Emanuel Hall, are just too high-ceiling and young to release for a team that is going to have be needing to keep younger/cheaper options going forward. I think the Bears give Hall, who’s been diagnosed with a hernia, the “rookie redshirt” and IR him. Offensive Line: Charles Leno Jr., James Daniels, Cody Whitehair, Kyle Long, Bobby Massie, Ted Larsen, Rashaad Coward. Alex Bars on IR - 7This unit is solid, and I think Coward has more upside than Bradley Sowell. Alex Bars will get the rookie medical redshirt as well Eddie Jackson Jerseys 2019 , he just won’t be NFL ready this season with the knee recovery he’s doing. Tight Ends: Trey Burton, Adam Shaheen, Ben Braunecker, Dax Raymond. - 4Assuming Raymond shows what I think he will, this room is fairly set. Quarterbacks: Mitchell Trubisky, Chase Daniel. - 2Tyler Bray will go though camp, and remain on speed dial... but the Bears carry two QB’s this year.Running Backs: Mike Davis, Tarik Cohen, David Montgomery, Kerrith Whyte, Jr. - 4This is a good room as well. Fullback: NoneDefenseDefensive Ends: Akiem Hicks, Bilal Nichols, Jonathan Bullard, Roy Robertson-Harris - 4Not much controversy hereNose Tackle: Eddie Goldman, Abdullah AndersonWhy Anderson? I just like the guy.Outside Linebacker: Khalil Mack, Leonard Floyd, Aaron Lynch, Kylie Fitts, Mathieu Betts. - 5Here’s one that I’m going way “outside the box” on but I’ve been watching tape of Betts, he’s the kind of guy Chicago will love. I haven’t seen enough upside from Isaiah Irving to tell me he’s here to stay.Inside Linebacker: Roquan Smith, Danny Trevathan, Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Nick Kwiatkoski, Kevin Pierre-Louis - 5Not as sure on this group... but Pierre-Louis is a great special teams guy. Outside Cornerback: Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Kevin Toliver II, Sherrick McManis - 4The top three are set, and McManis showed a lot of versatility in covering the nickle last year when needed.Slot Cornerback: Buster Skrine White Tarik Cohen Jerseys , Duke Shelley - 2This assumes that Shelley’s technique is good enough for him to stick. BIG assumption.Safety: Eddie Jackson, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson - EDITED TO ADD (I WAS ONE GUY SHORT) Stephen Denmark - 5As easy of a group to predict as anyPunter: Pat O’Donnell - 1Long Snapper: Patrick Scales - 1Kicker: Eddy Pineiro - 1I like Pineiro’s tape, but this (obviously) is a pure guess. Don’t rule out Robbie Gould just yet, either.Practice Squad Predictions: Ryan Nall, Stephen Denmark, John Franklin III, Isaiah Irving, Joe Lowrey, Sam Mustipher plus 4 others from other teams.Well, if had originally done my late night math right (I didn’t, so I’ve added one more), that’s 53 players. So what do you think, Bears fans? Am I close? Am I dead wrong? Spill the beans! LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears first-year coach Matt Nagy is showing he can take the heat, and it has nothing to do with sultry late August weather at Monday’s practice.Nagy made a controversial call Saturday to sit starters during a preseason game normally used as an opening-day dress rehearsal, and second-guessers have been attacking since the end of a 27-20 Bears victory over Kansas City.“They’re at a point now where the physical part of (practice) is going to continue, but it’s really now you start game-planning,” Nagy said.In part because he wanted to keep players healthy for the regular-season opener Sept. 9 at Green Bay, and also because they’ve practiced a week longer than most teams, Nagy decided against a customary tuneup game in the next-to-last preseason game.Starters weren’t available after Saturday’s game since they hadn’t played, but safety Adrian Amos on Monday viewed Nagy’s approach as anything, but half-baked preparation for the start of the regular season.“The plan is always to go out there and execute, to hit the ground running,” Amos said. “It’s not dip your toe in the water or anything like that.”Starters won’t play Thursday in the preseason finale against Buffalo, which is normal procedure.“The focus for them right now is mentally they can finally just say, ‘you know what? I can go all-in on Green Bay and mentally just get prepared Tarik Cohen Jerseys 2019 , soak it up, don’t worry at all about Buffalo,” Nagy said.Nagy’s concern over injuries hit home with players.“It’s a smart decision, seeing that he doesn’t want us to get injured,” running back Tarik Cohen said. “Big season for us. We’re optimistic about how this season is going to turn out. So we want everybody healthy.”Wide receiver Allen Robinson had only to look at former Jacksonville teammate Marqise Lee for an example of what can happen. Lee suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third preseason game Saturday against Atlanta.“Definitely for me, for that being one of my close friends, that was very tough to see,” Robinson said. “Yeah, definitely at the end of the day, like I said before, coach Nagy has the best interests for us players and this team.”Not every player immediately understood the decision.“There were mixed feelings,” Cohen said. “Some people wanted to play, some people needed the time off to heal their bodies and focus in more mentally.”The greatest concern is whether a team lacking experience with Nagy’s offense has logged sufficient game time to make it work.Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has 12 NFL starts and none in this offense, so it’s easy to see how another preseason effort would benefit timing on his passes.“Obviously he’s ready and well prepared,” Robinson said. “We’ve done a really good job throughout the course of camp getting all the reps and stuff that we needed; maybe reps in between periods, getting some reps after periods, and things like that. So I think we’re all real prepared.”Another issue is whether the offensive line and the defense can be physically ready with less full-speed contact than during a normal preseason.Guard Kyle Long called going every day against the Bears defensive line sufficient preparation, even if most training camp work is not full speed.“We’re playing against human beings in practice,” Long said. “And Akiem Hicks is pretty big and strong — you can’t really simulate getting hit by a Mack truck.”Players think the decision indicates something about their new coach’s personality and resolve.“He doesn’t care about what everybody else is going to think,” Cohen said. “He’s just looking out for our best interests and the team’s best interest.“And that’s the type of coach you want on your side.”NOTES: Offensive tackle Bradley Sowell suffered an ankle sprain Saturday. The Bears hadn’t updated his status after he was helped from the field during the game. … Linebacker Roquan Smith continued to be very limited in practice because of hamstring tightness. … The Bears re-arranged their Halas Hall locker grouping in an effort to improve team unity. They formerly grouped players’ lockers together according to roster positions. It’s jumbled now. “The philosophy between that is that you put big guys next to small guys, you put loud guys next to quiet guys, you put leaders next to non-leaders, offense vs. defense, center vs. D tackle,” Nagy said.

For the Chargers, it is no different as there is plenty of speculation as to what the team will do when they are on the clock tomorrow night. Josh Rosen: Smoke or fire? There has been a plethora of whispers the last several weeks about the Chargers as a possible team that would be willing to execute a trade for Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Josh Rosen. On Monday, Adam Schefter reported that the Giants, Chargers and Dolphins are the three “primary” teams in play for the former number one pick. The Cardinals have been holding out for a first round pick in exchange for Rosen, but are unlikely to get that value in return. But rumors began to circulate around the Chargers being interested in parting with their second round pick (60th overall) to acquire Rosen as a developmental QB to mold behind Philip Rivers.Earlier this week Cheap Cortez Broughton Jersey , General Manager Tom Telesco spoke with the Media and had this to say regarding the possibility of Los Angeles making a trade for a potential Rivers’ successor During the free agency period, the Chargers signed Tyrod Taylor to a two-year $11 million deal, giving the team a capable veteran backup. Taylor’s contract is another reason to believe that the Chargers wouldn’t be a serious candidate for Rosen as the team would be taking on an additional cap hit at the QB position on top of giving up draft capital. Time will tell on If the smoke surrounding these rumors has any fire behind it. Moving down?Since he became the GM of the Chargers in 2013, Telesco has had a reputation of keeping the Chargers draft strategy close to the chest. This year, Los Angeles owns the 28th overall selection, which brings a number of different possibilities along with it. One of those options could be to trade out their first round spot and move down to acquire more picks. On Monday, Telesco addressed the possibilities of trading down. The Chargers have not selected this late in the draft since 2007. Depending on how the board falls to them, Los Angeles could be open for business to negotiate with teams looking to get back into the tail end first round. What are the experts saying?Mock drafts have peaked our interest for the last several months. Now with only one day remaining until Draft Day, here are the latest predictions from analysts on what the Chargers will do with their first round selection:CBSSports.com’s Ryan Wilson: DT Dexter Lawrence-Clemson“Don’t be fooled by his 6-foot-4, 342-pound frame” Wilson says.“Dexter Lawrence is an incredible athlete and while first appearance might suggest otherwise, he’s a three-down player. For some perspective on just how versatile he is, during the 2018 season Lawrence ranked fourth in Pro Football Focus’ pass-rush productivity metric and was sixth in run-stop percentage. There’s also this: In Los Angeles White Cortez Broughton Jersey , he’ll be bookended by Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. Good luck stopping that.”ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.: DT Jeffery Simmons- Mississippi State“I thought the Chargers might target a defensive tackle with the 17th pick last year, but Vita Vea and Daron Payne were both off the board. They ended up with Derwin James, one of the best picks of the entire draft, but still have a need along the interior of their defense. Simmons might not be picked in Round 1. He tore his ACL in February and could redshirt this season. But he’s a top-15 talent, and he’s going to be on my Big Board. And he could be a steal here.”The Draft Network’s Benjamin Solak: OT Dalton Risner-Kansas State“I think Risner is worth a look at tackle where his length and technique both shine” Solak says. “Players with slower feet and less explosiveness than Risner have survived out there, though there is some concern with Risner’s balance when faced with shifty rushers. Either way, love his energy and tone-setting aggression.”NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah: CB Rock Ya-Sin -Temple“There are other needs here -- safety and defensive tackle among them -- but it was apparent that the Bolts need to add some talent on the outside based on their performance against the Patriots in the Divisional Round of last season’s playoffs.”Pro Football Focus’ Steve Palazzolo: S Nasir Adderley-Delaware“The Chargers are strong all-around defensively, but Adderley adds a true free safety to pair with strong safety Derwin James. Adderley has incredible range and ball skills on the back end, evidenced by his 89.9 coverage grade, six pass breakups and five interceptions last season. Adderley and James are perfect for their respective roles and one of the best young safety duos in the game.”USA Today’s DraftWire’s Luke Easterling: CB Byron Murphy-Washington“There are bigger needs elsewhere on the roster, but the Bolts need to pounce on the value here. Murphy is the most complete corner in this year’s class, despite concerns about his lack of size or speed.”The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema: DT Jerry Tillery-Notre Dame“The Chargers need some new blood on that interior defensive line” Sikkema says.“They have Bosa and Ingram on the edges Youth Justin Jones Jerseys , but they’re not getting enough pass rush from their inside guys, at least if you ask me. Tillery’s stock is rising, but there is still a chance he could be available here. If the Chargers can get their hands on him, he’d become an instant starter. He would give Los Angeles a 3-tech pass rush threat next to Brandon Mebane.” Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon was out for the second straight game, due to an MCL sprain in his right knee.Austin Ekeler started in place of Gordon on Sunday against Cincinnati, with rookie Justin Jackson, who gained 62 yards during the second half of last week’s comeback win at Pittsburgh, slated for plenty of playing time. The Chargers were without nose tackle Brandon Mebane for a third straight game, as he cares for his newborn daughter. The visiting Bengals were missing two key starters on defense: cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (ankle) and linebacker Vontaze Burfict (concussion). In other Week 14 lineup news around the league:— With James Conner out for Pittsburgh because of an ankle injury, Jaylen Samuels and Stevan Ridley were in line for the bulk of the work in the backfield for the Steelers against Oakland.— San Francisco is missing two key skill-position players, running back Matt Breida (ankle) and wide receiver Pierre Garcon (knee), against Denver. The Broncos lost cornerback Chris Harris Jr. (broken leg) and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (ruptured Achilles tendon) to major injuries last week.— The depleted Arizona wide receiver group got thinner with the loss of Chad Williams Youth Mike Pouncey Jerseys , who aggravated a hamstring injury late in the week and was inactive for the game against Detroit.— Dallas left tackle Tyron Smith was active for a key NFC East showdown against Philadelphia, after missing the previous two games with a neck issue. The first- Cowboys, however, held linebacker Sean Lee out for a fifth straight week with a hamstring injury. Eagles defensive tackle Tim Jernigan was inactive again with a back issue after being listed as questionable on the injury report. Jernigan has played just one game this season, two weeks ago. From the earlier games:— Miami’s Danny Amendola played against New England, his former team, after sitting out the last game because of a knee injury.— Baltimore put quarterback Joe Flacco on the inactive list for the fourth straight game, despite his return to practice this week with the expectation he would serve as Lamar Jackson’s backup at Kansas City. Instead, Flacco rested his hip injury with Robert Griffin III as the second-stringer behind Jackson.— The New York Giants traveled to Washington without star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who stayed home with a quadriceps injury. The Redskins were in worse shape, with guard Tony Bergstrom (knee/ankle) the latest offensive lineman to be sidelined— Green Bay was down three starters on the offensive line against Atlanta: left guard Lane Taylor (foot), right guard Byron Bell (knee) and right tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee/illness).— Indianapolis had T.Y. Hilton suited up against Houston Mike Pouncey Jerseys Stitched , despite a shoulder injury that kept him out of practices this week, but fellow wide receiver Dontrelle Inman was out with a shoulder injury.— Carolina played at Cleveland without kicker Graham Gano, whose knee injury forced the Panthers to sign replacement Chandler Catanzaro, kicked a 59-yard field goal to beat the Browns in overtime earlier this season for Tampa Bay. Browns rookie cornerback Denzel Ward remained in concussion protocol after getting hurt last week, with Terrance Mitchell activated to make his first start after missing eight games with a broken right wrist.— Sam Darnold returned for the New York Jets after a three-game absence because of a foot injury, setting up a matchup of first-round draft pick quarterbacks in Buffalo against Josh Allen. The Jets had running back Isaiah Crowell (toe) and wide receiver Robby Anderson (ankle) back. They were questionable on the injury report.

Adderley was widely considered the top free safety in the entire draft and the fact that the Chargers were able to snag another first round talent all the way at the end of the second round was incredible.Two-for-two is always how you want to start the draft because it then allows your team to snag the best player available instead of continuing to reach on need. With pick #91 in the third round, the Bolts selected Trey Pipkins, an athletic, prototypical-NFL left tackle from Division II Sioux Falls in South Dakota.WinnersKansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs are an easy selection to the “winners” section because they were able to snag what should be three starting players on day two.Juan Thornhill was a favorite of mine and if the Chargers missed on Adderley, he was my guy for them to take. With elite-elite athleticism and production, Thornhill is likely going to pair nicely with Tyrann Mathieu in the back-end of that secondary. Khalen Saunders is going to be a nightmare in the middle of that defense playing next to another athletic DT in Chris Jones. It’s this pick that I believe will cause the Chargers to go for an interior offensive linemen here on day three. There other pick wasn’t a pick surprise following the recent news dump of Tyreek Hill as the Chiefs selected wideout Mecole Hardman from Georgia. Hardman possesses true 4.3-speed and will likely fall right into that role as things aren’t looking good at all for Hill’s future with the team, or the NFL for that matter.New England Patriots: The defending Super Bowl Champions were able to sit back and let some stud players fall to them at each of their three picks on day two. Their first of the night was Chase Winovich, a twitchy, high-motor player from Michigan who will slot right into the void left by Trey Flowers. Running back Damien Harris was their second pick of the evening and now gives the Patriots two running backs capable of carrying the load Youth Keenan Allen Jerseys , should they ever choose to commit to just one guy in a lead role. They ended the third round by selecting offensive tackle Yodney Cajuste out of West Virginia. This is one of the better steals from yesterday (should medicals check out) as Cajuste was widely considered a late day one/early day two selection before injuring himself during a workout. He has a meanstreak that’s refreshing to watch and some nice footwork, to boot.Oh yeah, the Patriots also nabbed Joejuan Williams from Vanderbilt with pick 45. The 6-foot-4 cornerback will likely start opposite Stephon Gilmore and give the Patriots a lengthy defender to help disrupt opposing passing games. The Patriots definitely got better last night.Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals went hard and fast out of the gate by selecting Washington cornerback the University of Hawaii in the second round. Tavai was widely regarded as an early day three pick with some upside. He was extremely productive in college (391 tackles) but most found him lacking in fundamentals that could keep him from starting in his first year or two in the NFL. While I do believe Tavai will eventually be a good LB at the next level, the pick is low in value as he would have likely been there in the third or fourth.Their second pick of the night was Boston College safety Will Harris. While I’ve heard good things about Harris, better players were still on the board at that position with Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Deionte Thompson. Also, the Lions need help at defensive end opposite newly-signed Trey Flowers and Iowa’s Anthony Nelson was still on the board. With end being the premium position that it is, I believe they went the wrong direction with this one.Houston Texans: Man, I just don’t understand why the Texans seem to hate their quarterback. Deshaun Watson was sacked 62 times last year, most in the NFL, and they went out and reach on not one, but two offensive tackles that no one was rushing to draft where they did.First, Tytus Howard went at least a round too early and then they selected Max Scharping out of Northern Illinois in the third who I had as a late day three pick. I watched him closely at the Senior Bowl in January and came away thinking there was no way he could play tackle at the next level. He seemed to have bricks tied to his cleats and gave up ground in the pocket almost instantaneously. No thank you.In the second round, they grabbed cornerback Lonnie Johnson out of Kentucky. Johnson has been a late-riser in the draft process who really started to gain some steam prior to this weekend. He’s a former track star who possesses excellent height and length at 6-foot-3. With their last pick of the day, they selected Kahale Warring Keenan Allen Jerseys Stitched , a tight end out of San Diego State. He’s only played football since his senior year of high-school but he was good enough to warrant a chance at walking on before going on to lead the team in receiving yards his final two seasons. He’s also uber-athletic for his size. Coincidentally, as I’m typing this article right now, I just received a notification that Texan’s tight end Ryan Griffin was just arrested in Nashville for vandalism and public intoxication. So, yeah, the pick of Warring looks even better. However, I just can’t get past their picks at offensive tackle and those two alone keep the Texans right here in the “losers” section. After all they've been through, a two-touchdown deficit wasn't going to faze the Los Angeles Chargers."We've been rock-bottom, so it's only up," running back Melvin Gordon said after the Chargers rallied for a 29-27 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday."We know how to respond when we go down. We always feel like we got the players to be in the game, regardless of how much someone goes up."Gordon played a significant part in the comeback, rushing for 104 yards on 15 carries to go with his seven receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown. It is the sixth 100-yard rushing game of Gordon's career and his first since last Oct. 29 against New England."He ran outstanding. There are some times when he could have gone out of bounds but he stayed between the yard lines and made plays," coach Anthony Lynn said.Philip Rivers threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns as the Chargers improved to 2-2, the first time since 2015 that they are .500 after the first quarter of the season and a long way from their 0-4 start last season."It was good to see the resiliency of this team and how they bounced back. We played good, complementary football Youth Forrest Lamp Jerseys ," Lynn said.Gordon and Austin Ekeler averaged 5.6 yards per carry against a Niners defense that was 10th against the run and allowing only 97 yards per game. It is the first time in 11 games that San Francisco had allowed a 100-yard rusher."Gordon was playing very well. He opened up in the second half," 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster said. The Chargers trailed 17-6 with 4:59 remaining in the second quarter then scored 20 straight points, including 11 in the final 47 seconds of the first half to tie it at 17 at halftime.Caleb Sturgis had three field goals, including one from 21 yards with 7:41 left that gave the Chargers the lead, but he had an eventful day with two missed extra points.C.J. Beathard, who got the start for San Francisco (1-3) after Jimmy Garoppolo's season-ending knee injury, was 23 of 37 for 298 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The last interception came with 2:38 remaining when Isaac Rochell picked off a pass intended for Alfred Morris at the Niners 19. The Chargers then ran out the clock."I thought he played well," Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said. "He played very tough. Made some great plays, especially in some of the situations. With a lot of guys going in and out, he handled a lot of adversity well and a little chaos due to injuries."Beathard's first TD toss of 2 yards to Kendrick Bourne gave the Niners a 14-0 lead with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter. His 82-yarder to George Kittle with 2:50 remaining in the third quarter helped end of run where they had three three-and-outs and an interception."It felt a lot more comfortable being out there and being in control. It definitely felt a lot more comfortable than last year," said Beathard, who lost five of six starts last season.EXTRA-POINT WOESThe Chargers have missed eight PATs since the start of last season, which is the most in the league. Los Angeles has missed 10 extra points since the kick was moved back in 2015 and is one of eight teams in the league to have missed 10 or more.VERSATILE BACKSGordon and Ekeler each caught touchdowns, the first time the Chargers have had two running backs catch touchdowns since Jacob Hester and Darren Sproles did it on Nov. 22 Forrest Lamp Jerseys Stitched , 2010, against Denver.Ekeler's 22-yard reception on a go pattern drew the Chargers within 17-14 late in the second quarter. Gordon's 6-yard catch in the third quarter would give Los Angeles a 23-17 lead.Rivers, who was 25 of 39, completed passes to eight players with Gordon and Ekeler combining for nine receptions and 81 yards.MOVING ON UPRivers surpassed John Elway for the eighth-most yards in NFL history. He has 51,504 yards in his 15-year career while Elway had 51,475."Those are guys I had posters of on my wall, so just to be mentioned with them is definitely special," Rivers said.HELD IN CHECKSan Francisco's Matt Breida came in tied for the league lead in rushing (295 yards) but he was held to 39 yards on nine carries.Lynn said after the game that stopping the run was something they put extra emphasis on in practice all week.INJURIESNiners: Wide receiver Dante Pettis and left tackle Joe Staley suffered knee injuries. Staley's injury meant San Francisco had to reshuffle its offensive line, moving first-round pick Mike McGlinchey to left tackle and putting Garry Gilliam at right tackle.Chargers: Wide receiver Travis Benjamin, who missed the past two games due to a foot injury, did not play during the second half. He had a catch for 2 yards. Left tackle Russell Okung did not play in the second half due to a groin injury.Follow Joe Reedy at joereedy

season NFL debut for the Philadelphia Eagles. The former Australian Rugby League star is playing his first year of American football and made a positive impression in the preseason despite his incredible inexperience with the game. However Youth Jordan Matthews Jerseys , his prior rugby experience makes for an intriguing possibility as a ball carrier at some point down the line as well. It’s a possibility Eagles head coach Doug Pederson hasn’t shot down.“He鈥檚 definitely used to carrying a larger football. Do they call it a football? I don鈥檛 know what they call it,” Pederson said, via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “Very athletic guy. It鈥檚 intriguing. It鈥檚 not out of the question.”At 6-foot-8, 346 pounds, Mailata would be one of the largest players to ever carry a football in a running back capacity. He’s not going to take a job from Darren Sproles, Corey Clement or Wendell Smallwood any time soon. Any chance he’d be used as a running back would likely be highly specialized situations as well.Nevertheless, it’s a fun idea to consider and Pederson is just the type of coach that would give it a shot if the right opportunity were to present itself. Philadelphia Eagles — Primary tight ends: Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Richard Rodgers. Ertz is a 28-year-old Pro Bowler who set career highs in catches (116), receiving yards (1,163), and catch rate (74.4 percent) last season. Goedert didn’t need much time to adjust to the league even after playing his college ball at South Dakota State, grading out as one of league’s best run blockers at his position. After hauling in 33 catches and four touchdowns, he’s capable of filling the gaps others leave behind if they focus too hard on Ertz. Rodgers is a useful depth option and special teamer who can catch the hell out of a Hail Mary.Report: Eagles’ Joe Douglas will interview for Jets general manager job on Sunday - BGNPhilly could be losing a key front office member soon.Jim Schwartz hints at more player acquisitions for his defense - PhillyVoiceThe Philadelphia Eagles’ offense is loaded. The defense? Eh, on paper Jordan Matthews Jerseys Stitched , it looks solid, but it doesn’t lack its areas of concern. Speaking for the first time since the Birds were eliminated from the playoffs, Jim Schwartz was asked about his thoughts on the the player acquisitions to his defense this offseason. ”It’s obviously still a work in progress,” he said. “If history holds true, there will be another addition somewhere along the line. Howie and Joe have never been shy about adding another player in training camp or at the waiver wire or anything else.” Well then. It sounds a lot like Schwartz would welcome more players being added to his side of the ball. This offseason, of course, the Eagles allocated more resources to their offense than their defense.Appreciating the Eagles - Iggles BlitzSince Jeffrey Lurie took over the Eagles in 1994, he wanted to turn them into a good organization. The first few years were erratic, on and off the field. There wasn’t a strong leader for the organization and it was easy to question just what was going on. Lurie hired Tom Modrak to be the team’s General Manager in 1998 and that had a huge impact. He brought experience and structure to the front office. Lurie and Joe Banner then hired Andy Reid in 1999 and that really changed things. In terms of being part of the community, the first memory I have is Jermane Mayberry’s eyemobile for kids. That started in 1996. Now the Eagles do all kinds of charity events. Players do charitable things on their own. Some of this is for PR, but I think a lot of it is genuine. Become part of the community and help those around you. Take advantage of your time in the limelight. It is easy to be an Eagles fan with what you see, on and off the field. Just look around the rest of the sports world and you see some less than stellar organizations. This time of the year, it’s all about the Brain Game - PE.comIn Year 2, Goedert is in a different place, with a different role. “I’m so much more comfortable, it isn’t even close Youth Timmy Jernigan Jerseys ,” Goedert said. “This time of the year, you’re in the playbook, you’re in the classroom. You have to get it down there first before you take it to the field. I think I’m faster in the offense because I know what I’m doing now. I have a good feel for what I’m supposed to be doing and that makes a huge difference.”Eagles fans show Carson Wentz at annual charity softball game they’re 100 percent behind QB despite injuries - CBS SportsAnd, boy, do they trust. Asked if Wentz is the right guy to lead the Eagles back to the Super Bowl, Rachel Englehardt, of Horsham, replied without hesitation: “I know he is.” At least half a dozen others gave the exact same answer: “One hundred percent.”Ranking the 25 biggest position upgrades of the 2019 NFL offseason - ESPN In$ider23. Philadelphia Eagles, WRDeSean Jackson replaces Jordan Matthews. Matthews’ 2018 stat line: 20 receptions, 300 yards, 2 TD. Jackson’s 2019 projection: 45 receptions, 765 yards, 5 TD. Whether they’ve tried Nelson Agholor, Torrey Smith or Mike Wallace, the Eagles have struggled to add a vertical element to the offense since Doug Pederson was hired in 2016. During the three seasons, they’ve completed a pedestrian 76-of-221 targets 20-plus yards down field (34.4 percent) for 2 Timmy Jernigan Jerseys Stitched ,768 yards and 12.5 yards per target. They looked to rectify that by trading for old friend Jackson, who returns to the team that drafted him, following five seasons away. Jackson’s 10.8 yards per target was sixth highest in the NFL last season, and his career 10.0 YPT tops the league since he was drafted in 2008. The 32-year-old will be a force as a lid lifter in 2019, as will 2019 draft pick JJ Arcega-Whiteside.NFL Insiders Pick 2019 Rookie of the Year Candidates - B/RMiles Sanders, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles have a talented and loaded depth chart at running back, which is the only reason why Miles Sanders wasn’t ranked higher. Sanders has the talent and is a perfect fit in Doug Pederson’s offense; it’s just a matter of breaking out of the pack to get the touches needed to produce.Which NFL Teams Will Have the Biggest Contracts Due? - MMQB5. Eagles/Jaguars: Both of these teams have either been able to build their roster thanks to a team-friendly rookie quarterback deal, or have recently seen the downside of what happens when that quarterback doesn’t pan out. Philadelphia’s brilliant run in free agency, trades and the draft will come to head with the looming decision on Carson Wentz’s rookie deal after this season (it expires after 2020). Meanwhile, the Jaguars are doing all they can to keep a star-studded supporting cast alive long enough for Nick Foles to take them to the playoffs. Sooner or later, Jalen Ramsey is going to want (and deserve) an awful lot of money.Vinny Curry back with Eagles to chase that Super Bowl feeling - NBCSPFor whatever reason, Jim Schwartz didn’t want to mention the name of the game, so we’ll try to honor his request. On Tuesday, Schwartz was talking about the new additions to the Eagles’ defense and the first person he named was Vinny Curry, who played his first six years in Philadelphia before joining the Buccaneers for one season. After getting cut by Tampa Bay Youth Chance Warmack Jerseys , he’s back with the Eagles on a one-year deal. “He really looks like he hasn’t missed a beat from where he was when he last played a game for us,” Schwartz said, “which was in Minnesota.” You probably remember the game in Minnesota. It was the last game of the 2017 season but was played on Feb. 4, 2018; ringing any bells?Like he had in the 18 games prior, Curry started this one too. He played 44 snaps (58 percent) and had four tackles. The Eagles won. They got a trophy. “I’m trying to really, really take it to the next level,” Curry said this week. “To feel that feeling again, I’ll do anything in the world for it. I’m just working.Redskins not expected to release Josh Norman for salary cap relief - Hogs HavenThere has been a lot of speculation about Josh Norman’s future with the Washington Redskins. He was a surprise signing after the Carolina Panthers rescinded the franchise tag in 2016, and the Redskins made the former All Pro the highest-paid CB in the NFL. Norman has been Washington’s top corner the last few years, but he hasn’t been a superstar. Head Coach Jay Gruden said he loved what Norman has brought to the team, but he’s looking for that next level play. The team was in pads as they held their second of two live tackling sessions this summer. Read on to see what I observed! Also, listen to the latest BGN Radio practice recap podcast by using the embed below or [CLICKING HERE]:PRACTICE NOTES• CARSON WENTZ UPDATE: Wentz’s biggest highlight was a deep touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson. Wentz got the ball out quick with a blitzing Sidney Jones bearing down on him and split the safety (Malcolm Jenkins) and cornerback (Avonte Maddox) to hit Jackson in stride for the explosive play. You love to see it. During 1-on-1, Wentz got picked by Malcolm Jenkins on a fade throw meant for Nelson Agholor. The ball was a little underthrown but Jenkins also played it pretty well. Jenkins was one of the rare defenders who didn’t get totally shook by Agholor in the red zone, by the way. Nelly put a number of defenders on skates with stutter steps and the like. Wentz had touchdown throws to JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Alshon Jeffery in 1-on-1 where the receivers were tightly contested. Wentz isn’t afraid of throwing into tight windows Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys 2019 , which is a good fit for his strong receivers who can fight off defenders. More good from Wentz: looking off the defense and then hitting Zach Ertz for a touchdown along the back of the end zone. He also threaded a pass over the middle to Marken Michel in 7-on-7. Overall, Wentz’s day wasn’t super flashy but he was mostly good. • EAGLES INJURY UPDATE: The big news is that Kamu Grugier-Hill went down with an injury towards the end of practice. It happened on a play where he tackled Jordan Howard. He was on the ground getting his leg looked at before he gingerly walked off the field. Then he was carted back to the trainer’s tent before ultimately walking into the team’s facility. Hopefully Kamu isn’t seriously hurt. He’s had a great training camp and he figures one of the the Eagles’ top two linebackers in terms of snaps played. The Eagles actually issued an injury report for their other banged up guys. Jalen Mills (foot) is obviously still on active/PUP. Cre’Von LeBlanc (foot) is “week-to-week” and so is Paul Worrilow (knee), which is really not good for Worrilow’s roster chances. Mack Hollins (hip) is “day-to-day” and so is Richard Rodgers, who missed practice for the first time today. Rodgers’ injury explains why the Eagles signed tight end Alex Ellis on Friday to eat some reps. Miles Sanders’ injury scare from Thursday did not linger into today. He was full go.Rodney McLeod participated in some 11-on-11 for the first time this offseason. Good sign. He’s still not 100% cleared, though, because he didn’t participate in the team’s live tackling drills; just the thud session. Keep in mind there are 36 days until the Eagles’ Week 1 home opener on Sunday, September 8. • JERSEY NUMBER UPDATES: New Eagles safety Johnathan Cyprien is wearing No. 41. Alex Ellis is wearing No. 48 Womens Shareef Miller Jersey , in case you really wanted to know.• FIGHT! First one of camp. Undrafted rookie free agent tackle Casey Tucker and rookie fourth-round pick Shareef Miller got into it during offensive line versus defensive line 1-on-1. This caused a big scrum between those two units that ultimately didn’t last too long. Not exactly a main card.• You might think the 5-9 Avonte Maddox wouldn’t look so good in red zone drills but he sure did today. Maddox broke up a Wentz fade meant for DeSean. He also had such sticky coverage on Braxton Miller that Clayton Thorson threw the ball away. Eagles defensive backs coach Cory Undlin liked that rep from Maddox.• Another practice in which 6-6 receiver Carlton Agudosi stood out. You know, a lot of times these tall receivers get brought into camps, they’re not actually any good. They’re often stiff and can’t create separation. That’s not exactly the case with Agudosi, who showed off some good route-running to get open in 1-on-1 against a veteran defender like Orlando Scandrick. Agudosi later beat Jeremiah McKinnon on fade touchdown pass from Sudfeld. Sudfeld found Agudosi again on a deep play in 7-on-7. Agudosi is making his case for a practice squad spot at the very least. • Nate Sudfeld continues to trend in a positive direction. He’s looked more consistent recently. Sudfeld capped off an 11-on-11 series with a money red zone touchdown throw to Dallas Goedert. That No. 88 guy isn’t an easy cover. • Hassan Ridgeway appears to be ahead of Treyvon Hester on the Eagles’ depth chart. Ridgeway was taking some first team goal line defensive tackle snaps next to Malik Jackson today with Fletcher Cox not doing team drills and Timmy Jernigan getting a breather (?). • Josh Adams had three notable runs in 11-on-11 where he broke open field tackles to keep on running. I don’t think Adams makes the 53 but he could be a nice depth piece to stash away on the practice squad. • Boston Scott broke off a long run against the third team defense. The aforementioned Shareef Miller deserves some credit for hustling 30+ yards down the field to put a big pop on Scott to end the play. • Kamu had a nice leaping pass deflection on a quick Wentz throw on a goal line play. Kamu’s had several of those in camp so far. Really hope he’s OK.• Emptying the offensive line versus defensive line notebook (besides the fight): Andre Dillard was driven back by Brandon Graham but the rookie didn’t allow Graham to get by him. Jordan Mailata, who false started during a team drill, got beaten by Daeshon Hall. Sua Opeta handled Hester with ease before Hester came back stronger on the next rep and caused the rookie blocker to lose his balance. • Trickeration during group install: Wentz pitches to Darren Sproles on a halfback toss ... but no, it’s a fake! Sproles throws to Joshua Perkins for a touchdown. I’d love to see Sproles throw a touchdown pass in a real game. Maybe that’ll be the new Philly Special in Super Bowl LIV. • Jake Elliott seemingly drilled all his field goal attempts Shareef Miller Jersey Color Rush , including a 54-yarder to end practice. • Vinny Curry: Secret weapon?Joe Ostman and Brandon Graham each took a punt return rep as well. No drops!• During his post-practice presser, Doug Pederson named DeAndre Thompkins and Kevin Wilkins as the best rookie singers on the team. (As a hazing ritual, Eagles rookies have to sing in front of vets during full team meetings.) Doug gave them both an “8 out of 10.” • BGN reader shoutout section: Great seeing Doug M. and Rich B. at practice today! UP NEXTThe Eagles will hold their one and only open practice at Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow evening starting at 7:00 PM ET. Stay tuned to BGN for more coverage, as always.

Womens Bradley Chubb Jersey , new Broncos head coach Vic Fangio declined to talk about reports that Gary Kubiak would be the team’s offensive coordinator because nothing had been finalized yet. That allows Fangio to avoid any backtracking on Friday. While General Manager John Elway talked about Kubiak staying in the organization as if it was a done deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Kubiak will not be on Fangio’s staff and will be leaving the team.Per the report, talks broke down over differences regarding staffing and offensive philosophies. The news comes shortly after word that the Broncos are trying to add Mike Munchak to their staff after interviewing him for their head coaching job. Mike Klis of KUSA confirmed that Kubiak is leaving the team and reports that Munchak is under consideration as an offensive line coach rather than offensive coordinator. A report on Monday indicated that Broncos General Manager John Elway met with former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan last year to discuss a return to the sideline in Denver. That would have meant Vance Joseph’s departure after one year on the job Womens John Elway Jersey , but he wound up back for a second season after CEO Joe Ellis said the team would have to conduct a full search rather than just handing the job to Shanahan. At his Monday press conference, Joseph said the report “didn’t move me at all” and that his focus is on Monday night’s game against the Raiders.“That’s the least of my concerns,” Joseph said Bradley Chubb Broncos Jersey , via Nicki Jhabvala of . “People have written much worse things about me. … I’m not concerned about an article.”Joseph also said he “absolutely” believes he has the support of Broncos management. We’ll find out if Joseph’s read is an accurate one in a couple of weeks, but two years without a trip to the playoffs may not serve him well.

in Week 5 The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the loser column after a poor performance vs. their divisional rival Dermontti Dawson Jersey , the Baltimore Ravens, at Heinz Field in prime time in Week 4. With the Atlanta Falcons coming into Heinz Field for a Week-5 matchup, the Steelers will need to improve on their 1-2-1 record. Something I did last season and I’m going to start again is the Black-and-Gold Links article. This is an article where I take stories from quality news sources across the Internet, and add them here for your viewing pleasure. I won’t be posting the entire articles, but I’ll link each story and author so that you can read the full article. Today we update some key injuries, most notably cornerback Mike Hilton Let’s get to the news:Free of pain, Steelers’ Hilton hoping to return against FalconsBy: Joe Rutter, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewSlot cornerback Mike Hilton still has some stiffness in his elbow, plus lingering fluid that is preventing him from fully extending it, but he is optimistic about returning Sunday afternoon when the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Atlanta Falcons.Hilton did not practice Wednesday and Friday last week and was limited to individual drills Thursday.“The pain is pretty much out of the way,” Hilton said Monday. “If I get the full range of motion, I’ll be ready to go.”Cameron Sutton replaced Hilton in the slot against the Ravens. The Steelers were without two regulars in Hilton and safety Morgan Burnett (groin). Safety Nat Berhe, who played in certain subpackages, left the game with a pectoral injury and was sporting a sling on his left arm Monday. Linebacker L.J. Fort was used in subpackages for the first time this season, logging 11 defensive snaps.“It’s frustrating, but it’s part of the game,” Hilton said. “We know it’s the next-man-up mentality. Some guys have to step up and be in positions now with a couple guys down. We have guys that can do it, we just have to put it all together.”Tim Benz: An airing of grievances after Steelers’ lackluster effort vs. RavensBy: Tim Benz, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewOur inaugural ”Airing Of Grievances” column after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Chiefs two weeks ago was so wildly popular, I think we are going to have to make this a tradition after any defeat the Steelers suffer.Heck, maybe some wins, too.If there are any moving forward. With the way this season is going Jack Ham Jersey , there may be far more of the former than the latter. There are plenty of grievances to air in the wake of Baltimore’s 26-14 victory Sunday night at Heinz Field.Third-down offenseThis is where the game was lost for the Steelers. Their third-down offense was an abomination. The unit was 2 of 12 on third-down attempts. Most of that was due to horrid execution. There were misfired passes, a lack of open receivers and some blocks missed here and there.Popcorn, as coach Mike Tomlin will probably say Tuesday. Some of the play calls were atrocious, too.鈥?On the second possession of the game, on third-and-18, there was a short pass underneath to James Conner. It merely seemed to be an effort to get a few yards back before a punt. Already trailing 14-0, the Steelers appeared to concede that drive in a game where every possession was going to be necessary to come back.鈥?On third-and-3 from the Baltimore 20 after an Alex Collins fumble, Ben Roethlisberger lofted up a deep shot down the sideline to Antonio Brown right off the snap. Why try that there? Even if Brown had single coverage, don’t you want Roethlisberger surveying the field with multiple options in the red zone on a possession-down like that instead of tossing up a 50-50 ball to Brown against a taller defender in Marlon Humphrey?鈥?On the first drive after halftime, the Steelers went three-and-out following a short pass to the left of the formation to Ryan Switzer. It lost 5 yards, and the team had to punt.Third-down defenseMeanwhile, the Steelers defense “held” the Ravens to 8 of 17 on third downs. That looks decent on paper. But keep in mind, that includes two failed conversions where Baltimore was essentially winding down the clock at the end of each half. Plus, there was a lame “What the heck? If it’s there, it’s there” throw through the goal post from Joe Flacco on third-and-7 before Justin Tucker’s game-sealing field goal to make it 26-14.”They converted third downs. They possessed the ball. We didn’t get off the field,” defensive end Cameron Heyward said. “That’s not a good recipe for success.”It’s unfortunate. It sucks. I’m (ticked) off we didn’t get the job done.”Yeah, that pretty much says it all.Rotten startsThe Steelers have been dreadful when it comes to starting quickly at Heinz Field of late. Check out these numbers in the last three games at Heinz Field — the Jacksonville divisional-round playoff game and the two regular-season losses in 2018.:::More in the link above:::Ryan Switzer increasingly part of the Steelers’ offenseBy: Chris Adamski, Pittsburgh Tribune-ReviewThe Pittsburgh Steelers’ leading pass-catcher Sunday wasn’t All Pro Antonio Brown, nor was it emerging JuJu Smith-Schuster. In fact, it wasn’t any wide receiver or tight end – or even a starter. It was Ryan Switzer.Acquired the final week of the preseason from Oakland in a swap of late-round draft picks, Switzer caught all seven of the balls Ben Roethlisberger threw his way in the 26-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Including a second-half rush, Switzer had eight touches among the 21 offensive snaps he played.Counting special teams (Switzer is the Steelers’ punt and kick returner) no skill player had more touches for the Steelers than Switzer. Perhaps even more notable than Switzer’s overall usage is that the Steelers often lined him up in the backfield in lieu of starting running back James Conner.“I am just trying to continue to make a name for myself Jack Lambert Jersey ,” Switzer said, “continue to learn my role in this offense and continue to learn Ben’s trust and coaching staff’s trust.”For a team that rarely took Le’Veon Bell off the field in recent years past, Conner sat out 13 of the Steelers’ 73 offensive snaps. Neither other running back on the team (Stevan Ridley and Jaylen Samuels) played on offense Sunday.Coach Mike Tomlin said the decision to use Switzer instead of Conner was “just personnel packages that we worked within.“He’s a valuable component of our offense and has been a nice contributor.”Le’Veon Bell’s absence finally catching up to SteelersBy: Jeremy Fowler, ESPNNo matter how much the Pittsburgh Steelers have tried to separate themselves from Le’Veon Bell, his absence was deeply felt Sunday night. The Steelers needed an equalizer to settle down the offense when things went awry in the second half of their 26-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. What they got was a near 5-1 ratio of pass to run in their most physical rivalry. The Steelers always knew they would miss Bell, who’s still sitting out with an unsigned franchise tag as the team explores trading him. Otherwise, teammates wouldn’t have responded so fiercely to his absence in Week 1. They knew he changed the dynamic. As a counter, players and coaches sold a bold new attack behind James Conner, who runs hard and is a better pass-catcher than advertised.Still, the transition from All-Pro to first-year starter manifested in Conner’s 19 yards on nine carries Sunday. The Steelers were outmatched regardless of the running back in a Week 2 loss to Kansas City, but this week felt different as Baltimore ran 30 times for 96 yards.Several Steelers pointed to the Ravens’ quick 14-0 lead as a reason to abandon the run.”The run game, as long as we’re efficient, we’re getting yards here or there,” guard Ramon Foster said. “You get behind the chains a little bit and you have to throw it. That’s not an issue to be frantic about. We’re a team that always finds a way.”Foster is saying the right things, but getting “yards here or there” doesn’t sound like the tone-setting offense the Steelers’ line wants to be. Le'Veon Bell's stall inside the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room has been untouched for months. The Pittsburgh Penguins jersey. The black-and-yellow Jordans. Sweatpants. Cleats. His shoulder pads. Everything remains the same as it was when Bell walked out of the team's facility in January to begin his standoff with the club. The only thing that's been disturbed is the chair. Some days a teammate's workout clothes dangle from the back of it. On others — like Monday — a Steeler uses the seat as a spot to throw his lunch plate. When Bell returns to reclaim his spot is uncertain. The first day of the team's bye week came and went without Bell coming in to sign his one-year franchise tender. What's becoming increasingly clear, however, is that the Steelers are just fine moving on with Bell, or without him.The anger over Bell's decision to not report in time for the regular season opener has subsided. In its place is something akin to exasperation and resolve. One of coach Mike Tomlin's favorite metaphors is to describe each season as a train that's on the move.Pittsburgh (3-2-1) appears to be picking up steam. Bell is standing still. If he'll ever be able to catch up in time to have any impact on Pittsburgh's season is anyone's guess. The last six weeks have been so eventful beyond Bell's absence — from a sluggish start by the defense to wide receiver Antonio Brown's weekly histrionics — the players aren't even getting hit up for inside information on Bell's plans when they get home from work."They know our sole focus is on us winning football games," right tackle Marcus Gilbert said. "They're not bothering me with that. It's strictly about football. Ask me about anything else, the guys on the team currently. But until he shows up, then we can't talk Le'Veon."And at the moment, there's no reason to. Not with the way James Conner is running the ball. The second-year back rolled up 111 yards rushing and two touchdowns in Pittsburgh's 28-21 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday Mike Webster Jersey , his third game of at least 100 yards and two scores in the first six weeks. Only four other players in NFL history have done that."James just wants to put his hand in the pile and be one of the reasons why we win," Tomlin said. "He wants to prove that (he belongs)."There appears to be very little proving left to do.Conner, a former Pitt star, set an Athletic Coast Conference record for touchdowns during his college career but has become perhaps better known for his battle with cancer in 2015 and 2016. On the same day he helped the Steelers to their 18th win in 21 trips to Paul Brown Stadium, he shared a pregame moment with a young fan waging his own war with the disease.Conner is aware of the platform he's been given but is also doing his best to keep the focus on his job. He has a high level of respect for Bell — who tweeted out his congratulations after one of Bell's punishing runs against the Bengals — and wants to continue to be a beacon of hope for cancer patients. At the same time, he also just wants to tuck the ball under his right arm and run as hard as he can for as long as he can. Asked to describe why he's becoming more successful as the weeks pass, Conner is quick to point to an offensive line that hasn't allowed a sack or made him work too hard behind the line of scrimmage during Pittsburgh's modest two-game winning streak."The goons up front, it always starts up front with the O-line," Conner said. "As they go, we go."The question becomes which way the Steelers go when Bell does decide to pull on his familiar No. 26. He considers himself one of the best all-around backs in the league and has the accolades — two-time All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler — to prove it. Yet he also hasn't been hit in nine months and has kept a decidedly low profile, at least in terms of his physical activity, during his sabbatical."However it all shapes up, we know he's a player that can't be replaced, he's a special player," Gilbert said. "But any guy that we put in there will be a different type of player. Him and James are different type of running backs and they'll complement each other really well."Then Gilbert paused ever so slightly and drilled down beyond platitudes to reality."Like I said, I don't really want to talk Le'Veon to you until he shows up," Gilbert said. "Be interested to see what kind of shape he's in and how he can help better this team because it's a different outfit than last year."

WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTShareTweetShareShareLooks Like Someone Has a Sixpack of the MondaysReinhold Matay-USA TODAY SportsBecause we now have a “legal tampering period Morgan Moses Jersey ,” there are those out there who might think that there was a time when NFL teams refrained from illegal tampering. These people might actually believe that Albert Haynesworth and the Redskins worked out a $100 million deal inthe two minutes between when free agency opened and when the deal was announced. (To be fair...that is probably giving Dan Snyder too much credit in terms of deliberation.) No, NFL teams have perfected the art of tampering over the years, leading the league to throw up its hands and legalize it. Just so everyone is on the same page, legal tempering begins today, which opens up a two-day negotiating period for players hitting unrestricted free agency and prospective teams. While no deals can technically be agreed to during the next two days, the frameworks for deals can be hammered out which will lead to a huge news dump at 4 PM when a litany of contracts will be announced. It also provides for an E! Entertainment type of window when rumors fly and agents work overtime to try and make it seem like their clients are getting multiple offers from teams. The Washington Redskins aren’t flush with salary cap space, so the juice might not be especially juicy for us, but the team will make some room and get involved in the fun, because...well, because it’s Dan and Bruce. We did rumors here last week, so I’m not going to do another rumor post. We had an actual deal done since the last Sixpack, so let’s talk about the addition of Case Keenum. First and foremost on this trade...slow down and take a deep breath. The main thing I have been stressing ever since Alex Smith broke his leg is that the Redskins need cheap labor at the quarterback spot. This is because we still owe the one-legged man $51 million, and we still have plenty of needs elsewhere before we dedicate an additional $15-$20 million on another signal caller. My main goal is to somehow bridge the gap between now and when Alex Smith comes off the books, which is likely to be after NEXT season (2020, not this upcoming 2019 season). To restate my Alex Smith opinion—he ain’t EVER playing again, nor should he. Even after the 2020 season, he will count as $10 million in dead cap, but by then I hope the team will have determined a path forward at the position that is looking out more than one or two seasons. Today, we need cheap and available, as Steve Spurrier would say. (Has Spurrier been convicted yet of the crimes he committed against Patrick Ramsey? His stubborn refusal to employ ANY pass protection was at best gross negligence and at worst it was straight-up criminal misconduct.) If the Redskins were simply a quarterback away from being a contender, I could get behind trying to bring in a guy that would cost significantly more than Keenum. That is not where we are, so to me, Keenum makes a ton of sense. Stay with me...(but obviously feel free to disagree below). The best way to get cheap labor at the quarterback position is to draft a guy, and when you hit on the right guy playing on a rookie deal, your team has a decided advantage. The Redskins were cruising toward that eventuality prior to picking up Case Keenum, but now the team can be a bit more selective about which player it drafts in the first (or second) round. Of course, you need to be able to pick a guy you love, and at #15, the Redskins were more likely to be in the “love the one you’re with” boat. Drafting the wrong guy simply because he was the only available player when it was our turn to select would only compound our problem. Similarly, paying market rate for a free agent veteran could also hamper the Redskins ability to bring in the talent needed at other spots. A one-year deal for a veteran quarterback that has playoff experience and a $3.5 million price tag is kind of a dream come true. I am NOT saying Case Keenum is a dream come true—I am saying his contract is, and that is a huge distinction. I think Keenum is a major step up from Mark Sanchez and Josh Johnson. As for Colt McCoy, I also love him for his contract, which has him at a $3.375 cap hit next season. Neither Colt nor Case are signed after next season, so the team is not tied to any future money for these journeyman vets, instead only owing money to a guy who is probably never going to suit up again...ever. It says here that the Redskins can be efficient at the quarterback position in 2019 with Colt and Case manning the spot. Nobody expects fireworks or All-Pro performances, but these guys are capable trigger men if, for example, our offensive line stays healthy for once and/or if Derrius Guice is the player we think he is. No, I am not here selling you on the notion that the Redskins are all of a sudden top contenders with Case Keenum under center. Instead, I am trying to sell you on the notion that the Redskins are paying next to nothing for a veteran that should stabilize the quarterback position for one season. The team could still decide to draft a guy somewhere in the middle rounds in the hopes they get someone they like and can develop. The team could still decide to add ANOTHER quarterback at roughly the same price or better to add more depth to avoid getting to a point where Mark Sanchez is the best option and our only chance. The Alex Smith injury was catastrophic on multiple levels. For the man, it was and continues to be a life-changing event. He has lost a ton of body mass and fought off the kind of surgery-related infection that has claimed lives. It would be miraculous if he was able to get back into the kind of shape that allowed for his athletic style of play, but I think it would be foolish for him to ever step on the field again. It seems I am not even close to being alone in this thinking, but the pride and determination that go with being the kind of guy Alex Smith is will make this story drag out well into next year. Case Keenum doesn’t arrive as a savior for Washington, but he does plug a one-year hole at an insanely reasonable rate, giving the team flexibility in both free agency and the draft. I am not sure why people are failing to see this as a win for the team.Moving onto free agency and tampering, I am watching closely to see who the Redskins might be linked to or at least discussing contract terms with over the next couple days. I’ll give you two guys I want to see us connected to, starting with an offensive lineman. As some of you know Colt McCoy Jersey , I pulled hard for the Skins to take A.J. Cann in the 2015 draft. The South Carolina product was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round and has spent the majority of his career starting at right guard. I’ll be honest—he hasn’t set the world on fire, earning average grades from outlets like PFF, but the hope is that this means he could be affordable. The 27-year old would be an upgrade for the Redskins at guard with Shawn Lauvao not likely to return, and he could provide some room for the team to draft and develop a young player. Given we have gone through about 329 different offensive linemen (give or take) over the past few seasons, it strikes me that we should be looking to both sign and draft players who can play in the interior of the o-line. Again, not calling Cann a savior here at all, but he could look good next to Trent Williams on a potentially reasonable contract. I say “potentially” because free agent offensive linemen have been breaking the bank as of late. Let’s just get the Landon Collins point in here. Yes, I want him on our team. I have no idea if the Redskins can actually land him, even despite him saying he would love to play where Sean Taylor played. Multiple teams with plenty of money are going to make a run at him, but I am hard-pressed to find any other teams with as many former Alabama players on it...who knows if that helps get the deal done? We should have the money to land a player like Landon, so we shall see. His signing would also dictate, in part, how the early goings of the draft would go for the Skins. At the very least, I want to see some high-level tampering going on between Washington and Landon’s agent! (I would also like to see the Redskins linked to wide receivers Devin Funchess and Tyrell Williams, but neither would be a higher priority for me than Landon Collins.) 41% of ‘Skins fans surveyed said that QB is the biggest need in the draft"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Looks Like Someone Has A Sixpack Of The MondaysDaily SlopRedskins RecapsEDTShareTweetShareShareSkins fans not keen on Keenum? That appears to be the caseRon Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsWe are considered the voice of the fan here at Hogs Haven and we talk daily about who the Redskins are and how the Redskins are doing. CLICK HERE.In the most recent SB Nation FanPulse survey, Redskins fans identifiedQUARTERBACK as the team’s top need going into the draft.I confess to being surprised.I see Case Keenum as a legitimate NFL quarterback who is serviceable, and maybe better than that.He won playoff games with the Vikings at the end of the 2017 season. For his career, Case Keenum has a 62% completion rate, 64 TDs and 42 INTs.He had a ‘career year’ in 2017:If the Redskins offensive line can protect him, and if the front office can find him a receiver or two, then Case could pair nicely with a reloaded Redskins defense and the punting of Tress Way to keep the team competitive all season long.My feeling was that, by signing Keenum, the Redskins front office had taken the urgency out of the quarterback position. The Redskins have a guy who can capably start in Philadelphia on 8 September, and who should be capable of playing in all 16 games; after all, he started 30 games over the past two seasons and doesn’t have any real troubling injury history. Here is Keenum’s injury history for his 6-year NFL career, as per sportsinjurypredictor.com:Now Keenum may or may not be able to flash the kind of production he had in ‘17; it was, after all, a bit of an anomalous season for him — the best of his career. But the 31-year old has thrown for over 12,600 yards in his pro career, and has never looked truly bad, though he has looked mediocre many a time.If the Redskins can acquire another quarterback, that’s great.Truly.But I see other areas of greater need. The Redskins are short a starting safety.Ereck Flowers is the current ‘best bet’ at left guard. The Redskins have what is arguably the worst wide receiver group in the NFL.Personally, I voted “other” in the FanPulse survey because I think the 1(a) and 1(b) needs for the Redskins are to find a talented receiver on offense and a starter-quality safety on defense.I see the 2(a) and 2(b) needs as being a talented player to bookend Ryan Kerrigan at OLB, and an interior lineman who can challenge Flowers for the starting LG position and, perhaps, even provide backup for Chase Roullier at Center.I would rate quarterback no higher than 5th on the priority list, and I don’t see any real urgency in the need. The Redskins should be able to get through the season with Case & Colt, with the ‘luxury’ of waitingtill the 2020 draft to get the new signal caller if the right guy doesn’t fall to them in this week’s draft.Today, I’m an 18-percenter, in the “other” group.

The Raiders won’t do anything close to the house cleaning they did last year with Gruden coming in and putting his stamp on the roster. But cuts are inevitable. And not just the ones that happen after training just prior to the start of the season. Prime cutsDonald PennThe final year of Penn’s contract was the one he held out for in 2017 camp. It was always meant to offer security for him. He then renegotiated the deal prior to last year’s camp because there was no way he was coming back under the previous deal. At the age of 35 and with injuries ending his last three seasons – the latest after four games – do the Raiders even think he’s worth the $7.2 million he would make next season? Or would they take the $1.75 million cap hit and go for all new blood at both tackle spots? Well Johnny Townsend Jersey , since they seem set on Kolton Miller as the future at left tackle, and that’s where Penn belongs, we may have seen the life-long Raiders fan play his last game in Silver & Black.Seth RobertsLast year, Roberts was said to be on the trade block. But no trade ended up happening and cutting him would have left too much dead money behind. That’s not the case this time around. Roberts is due $4.65 million with no dead money if cut or traded. Roberts is a fine slot receiver who can start in a pinch. He also is a tremendous blocker, which increases his value. But should the Raiders look to add some major talent at receiver – and they should – Roberts’s contract might be a bit steep for a fourth wide receiver.AJ McCarron The moment Nathan Peterman entered the building, McCarron’s place on the team was brought into question. Gruden loves Nathan Peterman. Why, we’ll never really know, but he does. And he was just signed to a reserve/futures deal, making his contract as cheap as they come. McCarron is set to make $3.1 million this season. The Raiders traded a 5th round pick for the journeyman QB last offseason. Maybe they could get one back in another trade?Derek Carrier One of the first free agent signings, he was to be a hybrid tight end/wide receiver in Gruden’s offense. Seven catches for 67 yards and a touchdown isn’t really lighting things up. It certainly isn’t worth $1.7 million – his 2019 salary. Also figure, when they signed Darren Waller off the Ravens’ practice squad prior to week 14, he began contributing pretty much immediately. In his three games with the Raiders the 6-6, 255-pounder surpassed Carrier’s entire season receiving total with 6 catches on 6 targets for 75 yards, adding a 21-yard run on an end around. Meanwhile Carrier didn’t have a catch over those final three games.Keep an eye on...Kelechi OsemeleThis one may seem far-fetched. And I certainly don’t recommend it. When Osemele is good Reggie Nelson Jersey , he’s really good. And the Raiders aren’t exactly hurting for cap relief, with nearly $80 million in expected money available. That being said, Osemele is set to be the third highest paid guard in the league this season at $10.2 million. And he leaves behind no dead money should he be cut or traded. With two years left on his deal with the Raiders at the age of 30, he could command a nice return in a trade if someone is willing to either take on his salary, or give him a new contract. With the Raiders being in a rebuild, would it be at all surprising if they went with a younger, cheaper guard? Perhaps re-signing free agent Jon Feliciano? Perhaps they liked what they saw from in-season waiver claim Denzelle Good? Perhaps using one of their five draft picks in the top three rounds? Food for thought.See: Raiders 2019 free agent re-sign prioritiesFollow @LeviDamienRaiders add cornerback Antwuan Davis, waive/injured DB Tevin Mitchel With just a couple weeks left before the final cutdown day, the Raiders have made a roster move. They claimed cornerback Antwuan Davis off waivers from the Lions and waived injured safety Tevin Mitchel. The Raiders coaching staff got a good look at Davis a couple weeks ago as the Lions scrimmaged with the Raiders for two days before facing them in the preseason opener. The undrafted rookie out of Texas played in both of the Lions’ preseason games before being waived Monday. He had one tackle vs the Raiders in their first preseason game and another in the Lions’ second preseason game against the Giants.Davis played four seasons for the Longhorns, appearing in 23 games, totaling 50 tackles (40 solo) and two interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, a pass defended, and three forced fumbles. He will hope to make a quick impression in the Raiders final two preseason games against the Packers and Seahawks.Follow @LeviDamien

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh is turning to former Massachusetts head coach Mark Whipple to rejuvenate its offense. The Panthers hired Whipple as offensive coordinator on Monday. Whipple replaces Shawn Watson, who was fired earlier this month after the Panthers finished near the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference in nearly every major offensive category. Pitt finished 97th in the country in total offense, 93rd in scoring offense and 120th in passing offense.Whipple stepped down as head coach of the Minutemen last November after UMass went 4-8 in his fifth season. The 61-year-old is no stranger to Pittsburgh. He spent three years as the quarterbacks coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004-06 Mason Rudolph Jersey , where he mentored Ben Roethlisberger during Roethlisberger’s first seasons in the NFL.Whipple previously coached in the ACC at Miami. He was the Hurricanes’ offensive coordinator from 2009-10.

Case Keenum Jersey , it’s time for teams to publish their unofficial depth charts. Which also means it’s time for coaches to complain about publishing their unofficial depth charts.“Yeah, it’s early and I was forced to make it,” Washington coach Jay Gruden said regarding his team’s first depth chart, which lists Colt McCoy as the first-string quarterback. “I wouldn’t have made a depth chart right now; there’s no reason to, it’s silly. That’s for the media and for me to come up and answer these questions, but really that’s all it is. It’s words on a piece of paper, names on a piece of paper and an order that means nothing at this point.”Well, it means something at this poin. Unless the depth chart is randomly generated HaHa Clinton-Dix Jersey , it’s a snapshot of how the coach views his roster as the first exhibition game looms. At least Gruden admits that he made the depth chart. Plenty of teams simply delegate the task to the P.R. department, allowing the coach to sneer at the configuration of players as the product of people who don’t really know what’s going on.Far less meaningless will be the manner in which Gruden uses his quarterbacks during the preseason, from when guys play to how long they play to whether they even play, much will be revealed over the next few weeks as to the manner in which Gruden regards the men who play the most important position on the roster. Washington has both of its first-round picks under contract. The team announced that edge rusher Montez Sweat signed his rookie deal on Wednesday. He and quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who signed earlier this month along with seven other draft picks, signed four-year deals with a team option for a fifth season.Washington took Haskins with the 15th pick and then traded back into the first round to select Sweat at No. 26. Sweat was initially projected to go earlier by many analysts, but a diagnosis of a heart condition at the Scouting Combine reportedly led some teams to take him off the board.Another report just before the draft said Sweat may have been misdiagnosed and Sweat said he has a “normal heart” after being drafted. Washington obviously sided with Sweat’s view and head coach Jay Gruden said earlier this month that he expects the rookie will play a lot during the 2019 season.

ALAMEDA Gabe Jackson Jersey , Calif. (AP) former starting cornerback David Amerson in the first significant move since Jon Gruden took over as coach last month. The Raiders announced the move to cut ties with Amerson on Monday before his $5.5 million salary for 2018 would have been fully guaranteed later this week.Amerson was a revelation after being claimed off waivers from Washington by the Raiders early in the 2015 season. Amerson started 14 games for Oakland that year and set a franchise record with 26 passes defensed and added a career-high four interceptions. That play earned Amerson a four-year contract extension the following summer worth up to $38 million, but he never played to the level of that deal.Amerson’s play regressed in 2016 and he struggled mightily this past season as part of a secondary that became the first to fail to record any interceptions in the first 10 games of the season in NFL history.Amerson played only seven games before being sidelined by a foot injury for the rest of 2017. He allowed opponents to catch 23 of 31 passes thrown into his coverage area for 391 yards and four touchdowns. The 155.6 passer rating when targeting Amerson was the highest against any defender targeted at least 20 times, according to SportRadar.Amerson was originally a second-round pick by Washington in 2013. He has eight interceptions and 63 passes defensed in 68 career games. The Raiders still must make a decision on cornerback Sean Smith, who is owed $8.5 million for 2018 and might not be back. T.J. Carrie, who was the team’s most effective cornerback this past season, is eligible to be an unrestricted free agent next month.Oakland is counting on 2017 first-round pick Gareon Conley to be the starter next season at one cornerback spot. He played just two games as a rookie because of injuries.— No NFL player has ever generated 2,000 receiving yards in a single season. If Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper has his way Donald Penn Jersey , that will change in the NFL’s 100th season.Cooper tells #PFTPM in an interview that will be posted on Monday that his goal for his first full season in Dallas is 2,000 yards. His best season came in 2016, with 1,153 receiving yards. However, his 725 yards in nine games with Dallas last season after a trade from Oakland translates to 1,288 over the course of a full year. And that’s an impressive feat, given that he had to learn a new offense on the fly. Also impressive is the fact that Cooper had games of 180 yards and 217 yards last season. If he can do that more often Lee Smith Jersey , he can pile up a lot of yardage. He needs to average 125 per game to get to 2,000.Is that unrealistic? Sure. But an unrealistic goal sometimes pushes a player to achieve more than he ever would if the goal was more realistic. So if Cooper wants 2,000 yards but gets something like 1,500, that would still be a great year. For more from Cooper, subscribe to #PFTPM and get the full show as soon as it debuts.
