All-rounder Shaun Pollock has belted South Africa to a four-wicket win over West Indies as he bowed out of Twenty20 internationals golden goose sneakers in Johannesburg overnight.

Pollock smashed two fours and two sixes in his 36 not out off 25 balls to earn South Africa a total of 6 for 134, which they reached with four balls to spare in reply to the West Indies' 7 for 131.

Pollock and Albie Morkel, who was 28 not out, shared a match-winning stand of 57 off 33 balls for the unbroken seventh wicket.

The West Indies were forced to rely on contributions like Denesh Ramdin's 19 and Dwayne Bravo's 24 to eke out a defendable total.

The South Africans bowled with discipline but were helped by the ill-considered strokes played by several batsmen.

Darren Sammy's unbeaten 14 and Jerome Taylor's seven not out earned West Indies a valuable stand of 30 for the unbroken eighth wicket.

South Africa's reply started in shaky fashion when fast bowler Taylor shattered Herschelle Gibbs's stumps without a run on the board with just the third ball of the innings.

South Africa dwindled to 6 for 77 in the 14th over before Pollock and Morkel stood firm to turn the match in the home side's favour.

Pollock announced his retirement after this month's third Test victory against West Indies, ending a career of 108 Tests in which he took 421 wickets - the most by a South African.

South Africa's one-day series against West Indies starting on January 20 will be Pollock's swansong in international cricket.
